You showed the A-4E landing, but not taking off. Do they launch OK, or do they have issues like the F-14? And did they fix the F-14 launching sideways off the cat?
When is it available? Sorry if its a dumb question. But i cant seem to get an answer. I have the steam version and bought it but later found out its not available yet. Maybe its a steam thing?
Do you have a line on the verdict about RIOs yet? If I the pilot own SC (which I do) can my RIO who doesn't own SC land with me on the new carriers, or will things glitch out? I've asked ED and nineline this before like months and he said he wasn't sure, so I was curious if you had a chance to encounter that

Absolutely correct I think they can make the adjustments and it should work, I think they simply need to get a salute function made for the a4 and it should be fine
Kick ass. I was hoping the A-4 wouldn't have any wonkiness due to being a mod. I really like that plane a lot, so it's nice to see it functioning with the new carriers.

The reason an A-4 can't be launched is due to the nose gear not being able to handle the stresses associated with a catapult launch, or as we Sailors call it, a cat shot. A device called a bridle was used to secure the aircraft to the shuttle (the piston that runs underneath the flight deck). A short extension was originally built on early Nimitz class carriers to catch the bridle so it wouldn't damage the bow when the shuttle reached the end of its run. Not sure about the Cat 3/4 issue, my guess is that if you have 2 Tomcats on Cat 3 and 4, launching the bird on Cat 3 first should alleviate the collision problem, as the launch points are offset, Cat 3 being angled and shorter relative to Cat 4. My other suggestion would be if you had to launch Tomcats in that area, keep 1 Tomcat in it's full 68° wing sweep if you have 2 birds ready to go on 3 and 4 until the first bird is launched, then extend the wings of the 2nd bird to the 20° sweep position for its launch.

Great video GS! Thanks. If you can, it'd be nice to see the AI taxiing aroung the carrier when crowded and see if they still hit other player/client aircrafts and statics like today.
Great video thank you. I don't get the whole elevator thing. The Pilots are never in the jets then, the ground crew move the jets around so i don't see the point and excitement at them doing what elevators do and going up and down. I would rather they fixed things like the runway lights not coming on.
These hull numbers make me feel old. I served on CV-63 and DDG-77. I've been watching alot of videos lately trying to get up and running with DCS. I keep avoiding all the "will this sink the carrier vids." I was the number one attack team leader for the Kitty Hawks flying squad. Maybe the folks that designed her know more about her than me and others that did the same job but they sure didn't have to live with it's realities. But most folks out there have no earthly clue what kind of abuse a carrier can actually take.
Maybe in terms of the Legacy Hornet, however, compared to the Super Hornet? Nah. The Super Hornet is way cooler than the F-14. The F-14 is too bulky of a fighter in my opinion.
And currently CVN 78 is the new larger Gerald Ford Class is operational and CVN 79 John F Kennedy is sitting in the water finishing production, and CVN 80 USS Enterprise is under production on the dock.
Thanks for making this. I was wondering what we would be getting for the full price of a module. Looks like it's texture updates, 3d model updates and a bunch of flight deck animations. I know this will sound rude and ungrateful to many (I apologize), but... is that it?! Is there any point to this? Any reason why this isn't just a free update to the core game? Yeah, I know, it cost money to make and they want to make it back, but... really... for _textures_ , 3d models and the privilege of getting to issue a virtual command to salute your flight director?! If this were a racing sim, it would equate to asking the full price of a game for putting in pit crew animations and maybe dropping people onto the grandstands... as awesome and comprehensive as the flight deck animations are, I have no idea how they can be asking full price. I understand that kind of money for a full aircraft with missions, avionics, weapon systems, etc... but this?!
This game is amazing... been at it for a week now, got a rift s coming soon, cant wait! You bums gotta get your priority’s straight, screw paying a couple bills and get u a new pc!!! :p
Hey G/S. Thanks for testing out the Skyhawk. I downloaded it a few weeks ago but only installed it now and was wondering why it kept on exploding on touch-down. Cap over at GR mentioned that it can't land on a carrier anymore but it seems they fixed that with the Supercarrier - so appreciate you showing us. Perhaps it's incentive by ED for players to buy the Supercarrier, i.e. an added bonus is that MODS can land on it? Keep up the great work.
Does the new Kuznetsov model have a version with the old deck color? My understanding is the lighter-colored deck is actually really recent. It would be nice to have a version that represents the correct era we intend to set our missions.
I like it, would like to have it but do not "37 euro" like it. So I guess I wil add it to my wishlist for the next steam sale! Nice video and good comparison, thanks!
@@Allwin-lz6yj I've heard many people recommend the F-18 as the best first module. I ended up getting the F-18 as my first plane too and I have to agree. it's very easy to fly, but it has a lot of depth with its weapon systems, avionics, etc, it can do everything from interception to precision strikes, and on top of that you get an aircraft capable of carrier operations. Hey mate, awesome video, a question though about your camera shots like where you are sitting static on the ground or flying slowly above it, are you using the f11 camera for that? And if so, how do you find the carrier, is there a way to somehow spawn the camera somewhere or do you actually need to fly around and try and find it yourself
hey man, F9 to switch to ship camera, set the camera where you want it, then Lctrl F11 to get free cam, use mouse and mouse wheel to move camera around from there, use trackir to look around as the camera moves.
Hello! Nice video! I would like to ask about performance. Obviously the SC looks a lot nicer than our Stennis. Does it come with a frame rate hit as well? Thanks!
I've enjoyed your videos for a while, and appreciate your comments on the new ship. I do have a question though, and maybe you'll have to go to ED for this. When you set up AI aircraft to land on the carrier, they move to the rear parking area, make a turn and then back up into the space to make room for other aircraft landing. There's currently no capability for player aircraft to do a pushback onto the side of the ship once they land. Will the new carrier have the ability to push a plane backwards, or does that have to be modeled as part of the aircraft itself? Thanks!
The main difference is one is unfinished, and will never be finished probably, and the other not so unfinished, and will no doubt take years to maybe finish. :) Saved you 9mins 50sec GS.
Hey, I have just downloaded DCS:Supercarrier from steam which resulted to be DCS World plus SU-33 including some russian carriers operations. I was expecting the hornet, is that a separate module? How do you get the american carriers listed in this video? Thanks!
F35C takes off and lands just like any other carrier plane, the F35B is the VSTOL variant and usually only flies aboard LHA/LHD class ships like the Tarawa
Still contemplating this - I love the idea of it, but not sure how much I'd use it during early access. I'm brand spanking new to DCS still learning the F18. Should I wait?
I mean it'll eventually go on sale, and we don't know how it'll release. It could be perfectly fine, it could be riddled with bugs. My opinion, but the F-18 will serve you well for a while even without supercarrier.
I myself mostly main the F-16CM (Falcon 4.0 being my main time sink in the day), but at 55% off with the 50% off sale and readily available 10% off codes (FIGHTERPILOT, MAGZTV, MOVER, GRIMREAPERS), I pulled the trigger on it being $22 in total since I did get the Hornet before the F-16 was announced. Edit: I did try to see if Growling Sidewinder had his own promo code, but I can't seem to find one on any videos or Twitter, but if one is available I'm happy to edit his in here instead of the others).
You should grab it with one of the promo codes spyder just mentioned, it will surely add to the immersion, and for $22 it's a steal. Waiting just makes it more expensive in the end and you won't have it meanwhile. Don't expect it to be on sale 50% off too soon. You'd still have the Hornet Owners bonus though which was 20% off IIRC.
Can the Supercarrier handle helicopters? Can it handle AI helicopters? I've tried doing helicopters with the current Stennis in the editor and the helicopters will land on the deck, but then they just sit there and interfere with flight operations. It's a minor thing, but I was just wondering.
Growling, how do you even get so many aircrafts to spawn on the old Stennis? I could get as much as 9 before they start spawning within each other on the same spawn point (excluding spawning on catapults)
Is it possible to download and play DCS on the new PS5? And if so do you think based on the recent specs released for the PS5 that DCS would operate VERY GOOD, GOOD, or POORLY on the PS5?
Looks nice. The decks of the new carriers are disappointing though. It looks like a rendered grey wall, not a real metal structure. Other metal surfaces in DCS are so convincingly rendered, but the decks of those carriers just don't look real to me. Its almost like its done at a lower resolution. The deck crew look awesome.
How does this affect performance? I'm on an older machine (AMD FX4130, 8GB RAM, nVidia 960GTX) and I already have performance issues with DCS sometimes when there's too much stuff going on. Yes, I know I need to upgrade my system at some point. But it sounds like we're talking about a lot more polygons and high-res textures for these carriers, and it looks great, but I worry that if I get this, it might be all but unusable.
You could try throwing in another 8GB and a 1060 6G or 1660 if you can't afford getting a completely new decent rig. That should get you a nice performance boost still with that CPU which might take some overclocking as well.
Rainbow Dash Mmm, in my opinion, it's better to use not less than a 1080 with at least 8GB (if you can 11GB) and 32 GB of RAM to have good details, but especially to have good frame rate. I have 16 GB of RAM DDR4 and a GTX MSI 1060 with 6 GB and i have to turned off some details to have always 60 fps. Sometimes, in bad weather conditions, my frame rate drop to 30 fps, especially when i look the ground or fly over the cities. It's very annoying. DCS want really good requirements.
Not possible to interact with it if you don't own the module. However, those who don't own it will still be able to join the server if it is placed on the map.
It’s absolutely beautiful . I need to put 2.5.6 OpenBeta on my machine too. I’m new and I’m running the 2.5 Stable Version. It’s only available for Open Beta right? Thx man 👍🏻
WOnder if you gonna take a frame rate hit with all these new features etc. I bought it to support the dev team but looking at this I think I might actually want to play with this.
In the new admiral kuznetsov I can't get arrested by the cables But in the old I can I just don't want to see the lock on 1.1 graphic kuznetsov but I have to bcuz the plane doesn't catch the cable

Why isn't the Kuznetsov on fire? This is highly unrealistic. DICE please!

Not to mention the long list of fired Captains. Thus the nickname...Kutsnutsoff.....
there should also be a fleet tug standing by to tow it when it breaksdown......

I use to be stationed and work on the flight deck on the TR. I’m so pumped to check this out. Great video
I'm gonna be honest, i think its amazing and really cool, but its way too expensive for the things you get (my opinion)
This has definitely stepped up the fidelity of the simulation! Great job on the cinematic space too!
The old Stennis even had working elevators too. I don’t know we never got it as a real function for players.
because they realized they could charge for it.
So the A-4E mod can catch a wire, very nice. But can it actually hook the catapult and take off again?
nope, it will need adjustments to be able to do that. i'm sure the modders will work on it once they have access to the super carrier
It's not as cut and dry like that and it's pretty disingenuous to reduce something people are pretty passionate about into one liners.
Super vidéo Thank tou
Good comparison!
Hey, I have just downloaded DCS:Supercarrier from steam which resulted to be DCS World plus SU-33 including some russian carriers operations. I was expecting the hornet, is that a separate module? How do you get the american carriers listed in this video? Thanks!
Can we have the F-35C taking off and landing vertically on the new US carriers?
Does new Burke contribute to datalink data?
Can the Supercarrier handle helicopters? Can it handle AI helicopters? I've tried doing helicopters with the current Stennis in the editor and the helicopters will land on the deck, but then they just sit there and interfere with flight operations.
It's a minor thing, but I was just wondering.
hey thanks
Growling, how do you even get so many aircrafts to spawn on the old Stennis? I could get as much as 9 before they start spawning within each other on the same spawn point (excluding spawning on catapults)
Is it possible to download and play DCS on the new PS5? And if so do you think based on the recent specs released for the PS5 that DCS would operate VERY GOOD, GOOD, or POORLY on the PS5?
With most of ths already said, is the Stennis getting upgraded too? I mean not as in a high fidelity model per se, but graphics wise.
I haven’t seen or heard anything about the stennis getting an upgrade of any kind. I could be wrong but I haven’t heard anything
@@GrowlingSidewinder Thats what I thought, but was hoping there would be. Oh well.
Hey gs, i installed dcs on my potato pc. Tried flying the p 51 but my potato pc turned to french fries. 😔😔😔
😩😩😩😩😩😆😆😆🙃
Same happened with my HP Notebook
so the A-4 can land on the new carrier, but can it hook up to the catapult and launch too?
no it can not, it can still launch off it, but not with the cat.
Thumbs up! 👍
How do you find Performance/FPS compared to CVN 74?
I wasnt to see a 1 winged F-14 get launched on the Carrier!!!
Is it compulsory for everyone to have supercarrier in multiplayer??
Or is it possible that a single guy can host it and other guys can play with it,,
Not possible to interact with it if you don't own the module. However, those who don't own it will still be able to join the server if it is placed on the map.
@@crash4857 it would REALLY suck if a server decided to include the new Stennis and not the old one...
Great Dude..like it..so is Playable this Module..?
sort of, it just adds a lot of realism to the carrier.
It’s absolutely beautiful . I need to put 2.5.6 OpenBeta on my machine too. I’m new and I’m running the 2.5 Stable Version. It’s only available for Open Beta right? Thx man 👍🏻
Not available on 2.5.6 yet - only to selected content creator types, for now
is it worth buying the super carrier module when you dont own the F/18 module? tnx
Maybe if you have the f14, but if not then probably no tbh.
WOnder if you gonna take a frame rate hit with all these new features etc. I bought it to support the dev team but looking at this I think I might actually want to play with this.
In the new admiral kuznetsov I can't get arrested by the cables
But in the old I can I just don't want to see the lock on 1.1 graphic kuznetsov but I have to bcuz the plane doesn't catch the cable
