The traces are very narrow on the power supply board I'm fixing - continunity check is essential to make sure that any solder hasn't bridged the gap between traces. I've managed to do it, but a very rough repair - I've scrapped off the green to reveal copper about 2 inches from the capacitor hole and put a new capacitor in and used most of it's length on the positive side to stretch over to the copper and soldered it. Done a similar job with another capacitor. Probably not safe with all that bare metal showing but I'll order some solder mask and cover it up at some point. Loved your video thanks!

Great video very informative. I was just wandering if I can fix any kind of board? I have a pc motherboard that got scratched a little and effected 2 lines that connect the CPU to the motherboard chip. They are very close to each other and are very small, do you think I should try to fix it myself or take it to a specialist?
Did you ground your KSGER? Need to do some repairs and I'm trying to find what I need to get. I scratched the solder mask of a trace just a little but enough to expose the trace, is it worth to try and fix it? It's an hairline scratch.
Test it with a multimeter in continuity mode either side of the scratch. If it beeps, it's not the trace. if no beep, it's probably worth fixing? And the KSGER stations do need grounding if they're the metal one.
@@NewRetroRepair Cheers, yeah I'll probably get the metal one, already sourced a metal eyelet and earth wire. My multimeter is missing the probes but I looked with a magnifying lenses and the trace is not damaged just the solder mask, I'll probably do what you did here, I thought fixing the solder mask would be more difficult than it actually is.
@@farben_ You definitely want to get some probes either way. You can pick a set up for cheap. It's ALWAYS good to test suspicious looking parts/traces.
Can I send a Peugeot 205 gti car stereo it has a couple of traces broken where someone has tried to cut through solder to decode stereo Obviously pay you well to do it kind regards Gerry

Yes and no. Copper tape adhesive will melt when it gets hot and adhesive isn't conductive. Conductive adhesive copper tape is trash. You're better off using a jumper wire.
@@NewRetroRepair i have this double sided conductive adhesive copper foil tape it says it melts at 1000c and the ps4 dosnet get hot like that im only using a small piece for like 2 tracers
@@NewRetroRepair if you know where the emi hdmi filters are on a ps4 slim thats where im gonna use the tape at i dont think itll melt because why would it get like supper hot in that area
@@Arzful because you need to solder to the copper tape to make an electrical connection. I'd strongly recommend you get your PS4 repaired by an experienced technician. Copper tape is not suitable for rebuilding damaged traces on a PS4 HDMI port or the area surrounding it.
@@NewRetroRepair dang i thought the tape was already already electrical jus had to stick it on didnt kno u have to solder it to make a electrical connection

I take a wire and hammer it into a flat strip and add green solder mask. Makes a more professional looking repair.
What size copper jumper?

If you've never done it before take it to a reputable repair shop. At a minimum you'd need a good soldering iron and microscope.
@@NewRetroRepair What kind of microscope would you recommend?
