    Before solder mask was readily available, we used clear nail polish to cover pcb repairs. It works quite well but gets some strange looks from customers when doing in home service.

    This video is so good at explaining how to think about trace repair. Have done a couple (amateur) but this just leveled me up tenfold!

    I never would have thought to use solder wick as a solder pad! Genius!

    Can you use nail polish to insulate exposed circuit connections? Are there any disadvantages or hazards? Thanks for the video you all did a brilliant job! Thanks

    Amazing video! I recently bought a pokemon pinball but i had battery leak, when i cleaned the battery acid the game just died on me, i think i broke one of those hole traces that go on the other side of the board, and im gaining experince to fix this :)

    Great video! Is there such a thing as a solderable UV cure resin? I'm thinking of a resin with a high percentage of fine powdered copper (tin, silver, lead, etc.) that once cured, could be abraded to remove the resin and expose the solder wettable metal. At this point, it would not have reliable electrical continuity. You could then lay a line of solder on top to create reliable continuity. I would like to have something like this to create traces as opposed to running enameled wire. A product like this could be used to prototype PCBs by hand or with a 3D printer.

    • @RetroSix
      @RetroSix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing I know of. Typically you just CNC or laser printer etch PCBs for home prototypes

    What type of microscope do you use in your videos ? Or which one do you recommend ? Can you get a good one for less than 50£ or between 50£ and 100£ ?

    • @RetroSix
      @RetroSix  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ones I use in video are thousands. The ones I use at work are AmScope about £300. Anything less and you will be limited to digital USB or monitor scopes and they are all about the same quality when your at that price range

    i have a Atari Lynx 2 that has a broken pad (it came off with the mosfet) of Q12 (the S 'left' side, so not the G side), to what pin do i have to connect the leg of the mosfet its 'S' side with a wire? - because there isnt any room to scrape of the green around it to fix the pad.

    Very nice, i did something like this to a gameboy color game a long time ago. It was the Super Mario Bros. Deluxe game. I had it in storage and one day i found all my old games and put the game in my GamBoy Color and turned it on, and nothing. Just a white screen. I was pretty sad because i put in alot of hours on that game, so i began to investigate the motherboard. Just above the pad contacts where the game pads connect to the pad contacts on the GameBoy there was a break on one of the copper trace. How that came to be, I have know idea because it looked like something scrached or scrape it there. The plastic would protect that part of the board but either way i just took some thin wire and my sodder, made the connection, turned it on and it works!
