I understand the subject of the video was specific to vertical mice; however, if you have wrist and shoulder repetitive stress injuries I’d recommend switching from a mouse where you move your arm to ‘trackball’ mouse - MX Ergo by Logitech is the one I’ve found work the best for me but as with switching to a ergonomic keyboard with thumb clusters (kinesis advantage 360 or a custom Crone are the ones I always recommend) the key comes down to optimizing for thumb-use over wrist / arm movement! Also typically as your thumbs are meant for a larger portion of fine-motor movements it’s less strain pretty much right away. Overall great video and review process and if you are a knowledge worker that spends the bulk of your time on a computer it is totally worth investing in an ergonomic setup for yourself. The time and energy you put in today to reducing as much of the repetitive stress on your body will pay for itself very quickly in my experience.
Absolutely loved this video and wish you came out sooner. I had to do a lot of research on my own 4 months ago when I needed to replace my mouse, and came to the same top choice with the Logitech vertical. I love the dang thing and it can take a drop or in my case several off my desk. Keep up the great content!
The big issue with the expensive Logitech models is their click switches are cheap shit. Their warranty is for one year, which you should get out of it, but starting somewhere around month 14 -16 you're likely to have your "left click" switch start double-clutching and messing things up. It's a well-documented problem with them and you can try to replace the switch, but it's a lot of little parts moving and de-soldering and soldering is also involved. The switch is around $10, but a good soldering station is around the price of a new mouse.
I bought the Lift and MX a while back after breaking a ligament on my wrist and spending months in pain using a trackpad. Ended keeping the Lift, which I still used today. The MX was more comfortable, but its size is more difficult to take it outside. Furthermore, for the price difference, I decided to keep the Lift. The wrist healed after surgery, however, I still use the Lift, and now prefer it over any other regular mouse or trackpad.
Another entertaining and informative video thank you, for me I recommend the logitech mx ergo advanced wireless trackball mouse, has a bit of a learning curve but solved my wrist pain problem :)
Over time these might cause pain in the joint that connects your thumb to your hand. If that happens, you might want to look at a large trackball like the CST L-Trac
Great video, I love that you mentioned the inclination angle, sometimes it's hard to find. I have an Evoluent D and I love the inclination and the middle button to close tabs, but it's heavy, so I'm gonna try the Logitech Lift next to switch it up from time to time.
Avoid white Logitech products as they seem to discolor and wear off quickly. Mouse discolored within days (chemical reaction, not dirt). Multiple keyboard keys wore off within 18 months. No such issues with the black models, which are great.
Interestingly, I've had quite the opposite experience. My last mouse was a Logitech Lift and I can't get enough of it. I even have one Logitech mouse bought in 2012 and it still looks more or less the same (and works the same). In my opinion, Logitech's higher-end mice are some of the best quality mice on the market. For keyboards, I prefer brands like Epomaker, Kiiboom, Keychron. Logitech doesn't exactly make the highest quality keyboards. I still have the Z5500 speakers from Logitech, bought sometime in 2008. I still actively use them and they work almost like new. (Only the display backlighting is not as strong as the new ones). Which Logitech mouse do you have a problem with?
I've just recently stopped buying Logitech mice as well. They make the most attractive looking mice out of the box, but in the past several years they insist on wrapping everything in this rubber plastic that turns into a gummy mess after several months of use. I have a MX Vertical and I feel like I have to wash my hands after touching it. This is only after a year and a half of use. That's unacceptable to me. I expect a mouse to work AT LEAST 3 years. I still have a G400 bought before they started going so hard on the Apple-like, planned obsolesce route and it still feels just fine. Conveniently the plastic will always degrade well after all the amazon reviews and review sites give it 5 stars and move on. Logitech is garbage tier for me now (at least the mice are).
I use both your number 1 and number 2 pick. Prefer number one because of hand size, it’s a big difference. And it made a difference in my comfort levels within a week!
"Mices," love it. Woot has a couple of Logitech's on sale this month, I'm feeling tempted because I have their other devices that all work with their Options+ software.
Something not many people might consider, but I HIGHLY recommend a Wacom tablet in replacement of a mouse. I purchased one of the about 15 years go to use for digital art and and realized it did not aggravate my hand and wrist pain when I used it exclusively in place of a mouse. You hold it just like a pen.
Best review on Vertical Mice. You forgot to review the HP 920 Vertical Mouse, it is similar to the Logitech Lift but a bit larger. It includes a wrist rest and tracks on glass :)
Great information again buddy been enjoying your reviews! Woah I just bought one last week! I was contemplating in getting the Logitech MX Vertical, but in the end went for a UGREEN Vertical Ergonomic 4000DPI. I didn’t want to pay something more expensive without trying it for long usage plus i wanted to test if my wrist would prefer it to my Magic Mouse which died on me! Got to say I am liking it now even from the get go of usage as it feels at easy using git for long hours. My wrist loves me more these days hahaha 😂
Those rubbery coatings on a lot of mouse are actually a huge disadvantage. Every product I've owned with that type of coating will eventually wear off and become ugly.
I bought a Logitech Lift after watching this video, and truthfully it's broken on me in around 6 months. Seems the mechanical buttons under the fingers began chattering and working incorrectly
Man, I was looking for a real person video to test wireless mice and you popped up. Was not expecting such an entertaining & funny presentation, Bravo! Also, you cute pup stole the show by doing absolutely nothing. Well researched and insightful, cheers.
I own MX vertical for like 3 years now and I'm disappointed that this is the best it gets when it comes to vertical mice. Scrollwheel feels very cheap and the shape not that comfortable. I'm waiting for MX vertical with the build quality and feel of a MX master, but I guess it's not happening anytime soon.
Been using the MX Vertical and the matching keyboard for a few years. Love it! I really like the one button tap to tab between desktop, laptop, computer. It was so worth it. Maybe I need a lift though for travel? 🤔
Note for the Logitech ones: Medium and large hands are 17,5+ cm from base of your hand to tip of middle finger. Logitech themselv also compare it to 3 credit cards long. Your hand smaller then 3 credit cards > get the lift Your hand bigger then 3 credit cards > get the MX Vertical
Thankyou so much for this, i love my gaming mouse so much so it was duanting to go ergo and didnt know where to star but my wrist has been hurting sooooo much T_T i had to take the leap and this review helped so much
I've used two Logitech MX vertical and were great for my larger hand. but they both ended up with a same problem. Left click had become unstable often one click became double-click and dragging was interrupted. I googled it and it seems like it's a known issue on micro switch. It seems like it's happening quite often.
I liked the Logitech Mx Vertical but the lacking support for Logi Bolt made me switch to the Logitech Lift. It’s pretty small but I got used to it and I’m really happy with it. For Gaming a different Mouse and you’re all set.
You should test the Contour Unimouse. It's really good, besides the fact that you can't map a middle click to the middle button. It scores high in all of the areas you mentioned as your preferences. OH, one last thing... The mouse can be both traditional and verticle, so you can adjust the angle to your desired sweet spot. You can also change the thumb grip. How you missed this mouse is amazing.
I'm using a logitech lift and I love it, but I found this video because I'm looking for a new mouse. Left click is starting to go out on me. I looked up a disassembly video and its super complicated.
You should have checked out the UGreen Vertical Mouse. AA batteries, dongle or bluetooth, supports Mac and Windows with toggle. 57 degree angle, good grip. All for just $22.
I’d also mention that the MX vertical doesn’t have silent clicks like the lift does. I have the lift but it’s a bit small. I want to get the MX but I hate the loud clicks.
Going to try the ProtoArc EM11 to help with my DQS; used the link in your video. Thanks for the recommendation. Ironically the DQS is partly because I use an old Logitech LX3 corded optical mouse that is ambidextrous but, because of that, has terrible ergonomics that cause one's thumb to pinch more. Because of that and price point, I couldn't consider giving Logitech another sale.
Please could you consider testing trackball mice - no one is doing them as a legally blind person I use a trackball because otherwise I need a huge mouse surface to navigate with magnification. I’m shopping for a new one.
Thanks for the reviews. I've decided to avoid any mouse with the rubber surface, I have had a few in the past that started to 'sweat' so I don't know if it's the new type of material, or what. Plastic is fine by me.
For Evoluent 4 macOS users. Don't waste your time trying. Just buy Steer Mouse software. It will be handy for other mouses you use. The change in experience is tremendous. Sadly, the best design has the worst materials possible. But the key is the angle and lightness of the mouse. If you are still frustrated by it, just buy Kensington Expert Trackball and call it a day:)
What are you talking about? I have a Kensington vertical mouse and a Logitech Lift. And both thumb buttons (back, forward) on my macbook air 2020 work out-of-the-box.
I have been using the vertical MX for over a year and I started to have pain in my thumbs. Using the left click and right click actualy push the mouse if you don't use your thumb to stabilize it and after a few months, my thumb pain appeared. I think this is also due to the fact that I have a method of claw grip to use my mouse.
Tested few vertical mice, found the best is thumb ball mouse. Unfortunately there is no left hand version in the market. I ended up with track ball. Kensington is good, except they do not have driver for Linux. I had to write my own script to configure it.
Ty. Co-incidentally i'm also considering the Protoarc & MX as well, so this video was perfect for me. The only thing i'd like to know is if the Protoarc's RGB is customizable using something like Signal RGB
Hi, my employer bought me a DXT mouse 2 wireless version from a company called Ergonomics. I have contacted the company to no avail. The mouse came with a dongle that needed to be paired before I am able to use it. £108 down & 2 months later I am still unable to use it. My employers IT dept asked if there is a driver or software needed to be able to complete the pairing. Would you be able to advise me please. Also if a driver/software is needed which one should be purchased. Thank you in advance
Best for dealing with wrist pain? Assumed to my smaller current mouse. I have big hands. Considering the logitech mx vertical advanced Any other advice you can give? Thanks for the video
Really wish that productivity mice had onboard memory to save mouse button mapping and macros. I really hate that so many mice require software to unlock all the capabilities of the mouse, especially when I'm not able to download software on my work computer.
Hi, I`m suffering of hand pain ( rest, clicking finger), I have try alot of mouse products the last one was MAX Virtical from Logitech this mouse is very good for the rest but its buttons have high resistance during clicking which cuased a harmful pain for my figner advice e please, Which one is virtical with low resistance clicking buttons ? thanks in advanve Sir
I'm on my 3rd MX Vertical. The buttons wear out way too fast, as does the scroll wheel. Of course, it is still the best option, else I wouldn't keep buying it, just it lacks in certain obvious areas.
the logitech lift is nice to use, but the click stops working after a few months. it's happened to me twice, and other reviewers experience the same. sad.
you seem to know a lot about apple. im looking for my 1st iphone. coming over from android. whats the most durable case, that works well with the magsafe, or has one built in thats very durable. ive been with the otter box defender for years. thanks
He's got tons of case reviews, but myself I like esr, especially if you after going to use magsafe. They're magnets are the strongest I've tried. I'm all esr when it comes to magsafe and my phone's is pristine, even when I dropped it on a grocery store floor face down last week because I'm an idiot.
watched your video with the hope that there is something else but Logi MX vertical. I have that one since 2-3 years and it looks absolutely gross. The soft touch material is literally melting and disintegrating. I've had Logitech mice for decades and some I used for 5-6 years, never did I see poor quality as on this MX vertical in terms of durability of materials used. I came across many users on reddit who are experiencing same exact problem. I'm hoping they update this design soon. Thanks for the video.
Have been using the Vertical MX Advanced for a few years now, removes strain from wrist completely, but in my case lead to tension on the ulnar nerve in some way. Now I have something like a Cubital tunnel syndrome, where my pinky and ring finger both go numb and the whole hand hurts in the morning and through the day. Have to do specific ulnar nerve exercises to make it better. The mouse might be too big for me in the end :( also the rubber coating wears off, especially on the buttons in kind of a nasty blotchy way.
@@Gary320 I ended up going to the doctor and drinking neural meds and sleeping in two braces. I put away the vertical mouse entirely, and instead bought a cheapest pen mouse that works from tripe a’s, a small cheap wired trackball for the thumb and also use a costly big trackball but im sure you dont need to overpay because ffs the buttons on it suck so bad and the only thing good on it is the ball itself. I use all the tools in a combo, where as soon as I feel my hand getting tired, I switch to something different. Yes the brain was having a hard time first, but its amazing how easy it is to get precise with cheap tools. I can play minecraft, typeset, use SolidWorks, Illustrator Photoshop and Indesign. I constantly position the hand differently and sometimes move the task to the left hand if needed entirely. So far it has been much better!
I want to use the MX vertical on Mac, but I cannot get over the fact that Logi Options+ requires the INPUT MONITORING permission. Third party software being able to monitor all keystrokes is a major security leak. Furthermore, the source code is proprietary and Logitech gives very little information on why input monitoring is necessary. I just cannot use this software.
Probably you had to include top end Delux M618XSD vertiacal mouse instead of lower class Delux you presented. This is very good mouse that i use for almost two years, I'd say its better than the logitech ones. It have oled screen with data for battery, connection and DPI selected status, best feature for me is having horizontal thumb wheel, DPI up to 4000, wired/wireless + bluetooth connections, led lights ....
Recently got the Lift and MX Vertical, and I would advise you to stay away from the Vertical. I don't know how it's possible, but whoever made the Lift had zero communication with the Vertical (team or solo). I'm assuming the Lift must be newer because it's just better all around; the Vertical feels like it should cost $25 (instead of 100). My hands are too big for the Lift, but I would much rather use it than the Vertical.
this dog is so focused on his master's speech that it looks like an old physics teacher
Ikr. Its all i can see 😆
haha! what's the breed of this dog? I want one :)
I was waiting for him to pet it at least once and interact with it... I felt sorry for it as it was left alone during the video.
He’s gonna get some treats at the end of the
I'm a huge vertical mouse fan, nice to see someone actually review them
Just how big are you?
Came for the mouse, stayed for the dog.

Thanks for this video! It saved me literal HOURS scrolling Amazon reviews and Monty is just an absolute delight, bless him!

I have this issue with my current logitech lift, ive been using it for just over a year
You know about any alternative with better switches?
Well, at least the warranty in Spain now is of 3 years minimum.
I have the same issue with mutliple of my Logitech mice
Logitech is overpriced garbage. They are practicaly monopolists and spend millions on marketing. This is their main strategy.
Holy timely video, Aaron. I’ve been in the market for one of these.
Only guy I trust with the reviews
dude this review was exactly what I wanted to know about vertical mice. great work
Great to see new products being reviewed

by far the highest quality review on this topic i could find. thank you sir
Who else is hoping Aaron takes on the challenge of finding the best keyboards for wrist pain next? ⌨🙌⌨
Great video, I love that you mentioned the inclination angle, sometimes it's hard to find. I have an Evoluent D and I love the inclination and the middle button to close tabs, but it's heavy, so I'm gonna try the Logitech Lift next to switch it up from time to time.

“Monty” is your first and most loyal subscriber! The way he pays attention ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I use both your number 1 and number 2 pick. Prefer number one because of hand size, it’s a big difference. And it made a difference in my comfort levels within a week!
Mices? Double plural?
I've been using a similar version of #4 since moving to WFH and it's amazing. Mine doesn't have RGB, which is great and it only cost $20.
"Mices," love it.
Woot has a couple of Logitech's on sale this month, I'm feeling tempted because I have their other devices that all work with their Options+ software.

thanks. it is clear, concise and fun to watch.
What was this video about? I just look at the dog and how cute he looks with his tie, so smart!
Those rubbery coatings on a lot of mouse are actually a huge disadvantage. Every product I've owned with that type of coating will eventually wear off and become ugly.
big fan of the quality of testing/reviews!!
Perfect timing. I’ve been planning to pick one up!
I don’t need a mouse……..I’m just here for Monty 👍
I bought a Logitech Lift after watching this video, and truthfully it's broken on me in around 6 months. Seems the mechanical buttons under the fingers began chattering and working incorrectly
Man, I was looking for a real person video to test wireless mice and you popped up. Was not expecting such an entertaining & funny presentation, Bravo! Also, you cute pup stole the show by doing absolutely nothing. Well researched and insightful, cheers.
I've considered getting a vertical mouse for a while now but I think I would miss the scroll wheels from my MX Master too much.
the dog looking at you for the whole video actually is hilarious
The logitech MX vertical has a switch problem that messes up the left click after a few months of use.
I own MX vertical for like 3 years now and I'm disappointed that this is the best it gets when it comes to vertical mice. Scrollwheel feels very cheap and the shape not that comfortable. I'm waiting for MX vertical with the build quality and feel of a MX master, but I guess it's not happening anytime soon.
omg your intro was less than 5 seconds! thank you!!!
Been using the MX Vertical and the matching keyboard for a few years. Love it! I really like the one button tap to tab between desktop, laptop, computer. It was so worth it. Maybe I need a lift though for travel? 🤔
Your dog and my dog could be brother and sister! So sweet those schnausers!
Note for the Logitech ones: Medium and large hands are 17,5+ cm from base of your hand to tip of middle finger. Logitech themselv also compare it to 3 credit cards long.
Your hand smaller then 3 credit cards > get the lift
Your hand bigger then 3 credit cards > get the MX Vertical
Great video…. Thank you! I deal with hand arthritis and this video was extremely helpful
Thankyou so much for this, i love my gaming mouse so much so it was duanting to go ergo and didnt know where to star but my wrist has been hurting sooooo much T_T i had to take the leap and this review helped so much
Great video, any suggestions for a gaming mouse

same. did you find a good alternate mouse?
great review, to the point! the angle on the kensington looks interesting to me, afraid that jumping to 57 degrees may be uncomfortable
thank you. very informative and detailed
Why would I get something FOR wrist pain? I'd prefer something AGAINST wrist pain please.
😂 you know what he means
Fool of April man
Yes! Why would I want a medicine for allergies? I don’t like allergies so I’m patiently waiting for a medicine against allergies to hit the market.
Thanks Dad! 🤦 😂
🥁
Hi, helpful review, here is a question: why did you choose Logitech mx vertical on top over Protoarc em11. Thanks.
I liked the Logitech Mx Vertical but the lacking support for Logi Bolt made me switch to the Logitech Lift.
It’s pretty small but I got used to it and I’m really happy with it.
For Gaming a different Mouse and you’re all set.
Kinda offtopic but what would you recommend for a very thin case for Iphone SE? Doesn't matter what material or color it is
Thanks for the review. It was helpful.
Thank you so SO much for your video, I already ordered my new 🐁
You should test the Contour Unimouse.
If one is wireless sensitive, can you use the usb cord all the time and turn off the bluetooth?
3:22 great vidéo but, picking mouse up from table to readjust can occurs but it's a bad habits, you are supposed to glide the mouse lol
why not the evoluent 4 but the D version one
I'm using a logitech lift and I love it, but I found this video because I'm looking for a new mouse. Left click is starting to go out on me. I looked up a disassembly video and its super complicated.
The Logitech Lift is my Goldilocks. Quiet, fast scroller, and fits my hand PERFECTLY. I appreciate the slightly smaller design.
Because of that and price point, I couldn't consider giving Logitech another sale.
two questions. does the MX work on glass, and are the clicks silent? Thank you sir and Monty.
Please could you consider testing trackball mice - no one is doing them as a legally blind person I use a trackball because otherwise I need a huge mouse surface to navigate with magnification. I’m shopping for a new one.
the first vertical mouse, is it ergonomic ??
Can't figure out how to tturn off the lights on delux deluxe
Thanks for the reviews. I've decided to avoid any mouse with the rubber surface, I have had a few in the past that started to 'sweat' so I don't know if it's the new type of material, or what. Plastic is fine by me.

Im making up my mind for the ProtoArc, is it any good for bigger hands like the MX Vertical?
So the Lenovo go cork vertical mouse, was it bad?
have you tested zelotes f-26c? i'm thinking of getting one😅
Do any of these have left handed versions?
ProtoArc Model EM13 is a left handed mouse however I don't have knowledge about it other than that it exists.
The Logitech Lift Vertical mouse does have a left handed option however it's different than the MX version.
Hi, my employer bought me a DXT mouse 2 wireless version from a company called Ergonomics. I have contacted the company to no avail. The mouse came with a dongle that needed to be paired before I am able to use it. £108 down & 2 months later I am still unable to use it. #1 has a speed scroll mode too! I think the top button switches the modes.
For FCPX how does it compare to the Logitech MX?
I love these kinds of mice. I rarely use a pc but when I do my wrist always hurts after like 2 minutes unless I’m using a vertical mouse
Best for dealing with wrist pain? Assumed to my smaller current mouse. I have big hands. Considering the logitech mx vertical advanced
Any other advice you can give? Thanks for the video
I have 20cm long hands and both MX Vertical and Ugreen Vertical are like 1cm too short to rest whole palms on them.
Really wish that productivity mice had onboard memory to save mouse button mapping and macros. I really hate that so many mice require software to unlock all the capabilities of the mouse, especially when I'm not able to download software on my work computer.
where can i get a mouse tht got the same design as protoarc em11??
can you add links for US customers? i would love to support
Hi, I`m suffering of hand pain ( rest, clicking finger), I have try alot of mouse products
the last one was MAX Virtical from Logitech
this mouse is very good for the rest but its buttons have high resistance during clicking which cuased a harmful pain for my figner
advice e please,
Which one is virtical with low resistance clicking buttons ?
thanks in advanve Sir
That dog was like "Could you please stop rambling and feed me?" 😁🤘
do you know what the difference is between mx vertical and mx vertical advanced besides the first one being 20 dollars more lol
I'm on my 3rd MX Vertical. The buttons wear out way too fast, as does the scroll wheel. Of course, it is still the best option, else I wouldn't keep buying it, just it lacks in certain obvious areas.
the logitech lift is nice to use, but the click stops working after a few months. it's happened to me twice, and other reviewers experience the same. sad.
Wow how much do you spend to do this tests I Love this video 😊 I am a mouse pain suffer user for long time ago
Logitech MX Vertical purchased! Let's see how I get on.
you seem to know a lot about apple. im looking for my 1st iphone. coming over from android. whats the most durable case, that works well with the magsafe, or has one built in thats very durable. ive been with the otter box defender for years.
Did you end up buying a new mouse that helps? Im having the same issue right now.
Is that dog real or a robot ? Scarily stoic still 😮😂
I’ve been using a Logitech lift on my Mac’s without any Logitech software and the side (forward/back) buttons work correctly.
Wow. All that testing really did a number on your biceps.
My hands are too big for the Lift, but I would much rather use it than the Vertical.
nice video thanks!!
what was the degrees on the ProtoArc EM11 Wireless Ergonomic Mouse?
