My cousin lost both her front teeth on the Water Chute back in the mid-80's. The sudden brake at the end, with no seatbelts, forced her head straight into the handrail at the front. The ride operators didn't even bat at eyelid! The 80's were wild! lol
If you didn’t sing to her for the rest of her life, all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, as we did to my brother when he had a similar accident at school, then you weren’t any form of cousin. 😂😂😂
Loved the Canadian Monster. Water chute think the last in the country.Loved the Whip my Mum used to take my Brother and I on the ride mid 60's.Rode the Turtle Chase many a time. Happy Days.
I was only able to ride Truma Towers the once but i do remember it fondly. Was crazy, is that blackpool took nearly 10 years to demolish it after its last ride. 😮
I used to tell my friends about a haunted house at Blackpool Pleasure Beach where you sat at a dining room table at the end that spun and gargoyles spat water at you, they thought I'd dreamt it. Your video just made my day!!!!!!
Wow. I remember most of these. How old am I?!! 🤣🤣 One of my all-time favourites was the "Wild Mouse" rollercoaster. Why did they get rid of that? The Wild Mouse was truly truly fabulous! 🤔
Probably as old as me! 🤣 The Wild Mouse was one of my favourites too. Check out my original Blackpool Lost Rides video. The reason for removal isn’t really known, but probably a combination of increased maintenance and safety concerns.
I loved the hip bruising Rainbow Ride. Esp on quieter days when you could sit on your own in the seats and they would crank the speed up and let the ride last longer. The air time was insane!!
Wow, that brought back some childhood memories from the 70's. One ride comes to mind, mainly because at the time it seemed so sketchy, was a ride where you sat on a horse which went round a course on a single rail. I think there were two rails side by side, and there were long drops if for some reason you fell off. I'd like to see footage of that to see if it was as I remember.
Thank you! That’s why I do it, I love looking back at the history of parks and unlocking old memories. It may have seemed sketchy, but it’s still there! The ride you are thinking of is Steeplechase. You can still ride it today!
I hope there's a museum at Blackpool for all the rides from the earliest to recent as the fair rides are part of our history thanks for sharing this video.
Great video and nice to bring back some memories. 🙂 One thing you didn't mention about The Whip is that each car had a pedal in it that operated a brake and allowed the rider to control the severity of the whipping around the ends. I remember my dad getting it down to a fine art and flinging us all over the place.
@@CoasterConnections Didn't the Whip have a manual brake? You'd slow your car down just before the whip part which made your car go faster around the end. I lived in Blackpool in the early 80s so I got to ride a few of these.
I could have sworn Magic Mountain popped up at Southport Pleasureland in 2024. We definitely went on something incredibly similar for the first time there but I've checked the site today and there is no mention of this attraction for 2025.
Such a massive shame how the Town & Park have declined, some new hotels and tram stations falls waaaay short on what Blackpool really needs. Sad times.
Wow where on earth did you get that footage of the Rainbow from? There's hardly any video footage of that ride anywhere? Only pictures. Blackpool definitely needs to get that ride back. It was absolutely stunning.
This is fabulous! I lost my watch on Monster in 1994. Did anyone come across it? 🤣 Was never aware that it had been there that long. Tokaydu Express was great. You could feel the G force when it went into that bend
If they ever close the train ride then I'm done with Blackpool. It's a ride I went on with my dad alot as a kid. Last time we rode on it was literally a month before he was taken from us.
It was a mandatory to go on monster as soon as you came on in the park. First you had to go on Noah’s Ark actually and then monster. Tore it down for the PlayStation ice blast thing
They did indeed replace it with Playstation/Ice Blast. There are some monster rides still around if you know where to look. I rode some recently in the U.S. and they are still fun!
Trauma Towers, The Goldmine and the Dawn Of Time Ride (in the tower building) were my favourite rides in Blackpool that are no longer there. To be honest they've made a right pigs ear of both the Pleasure Beach and Tower World. They're nowhere near as good as I remember through the 1980s and 1990s. Too expensive now run down and run by an American company.
I’m sure that the workers on Trauma Towers would dread the school trips as we would get somewhat rowdy on it. I say we, I actually mean the rest of the people in my year, I was a saint.
@@CoasterConnections the worst/best thing that happened on one of the trips was being evaced off Valhalla opening year. We got loads of extra ride tokens. For the good stuff too.
@@CoasterConnections I remember my first ride on The Big One and my dad paid cash (a fiver if I remember correctly, it was 30 years ago. Yes I feel ancient). The Turtle Chase, The Water Chute and The Whip were my fave rides. I miss them.
I only ever rode the Water Chute. If I knew what I know now I would have made sure I experienced EVERYTHING!
I miss Truma Towers and I just heard problems with "River Caves" (My favourite childhood ride). I hope it survives and reopens!
I don’t think I would ever recover from that! I miss the Wild Mouse but I think I would cry if River Caves closed!
I have a piece of wild mouse that I bought from the gift shop by Valhalla last year! And trauma towers was one of my faves!!
River caves was still closed last week. No work being done on it that was visible. Looks like it’s up for the chop.

I miss so many rides from years ago if they aren't careful it will lose its appeal

These out of date fairgrounds should be removed to replace industrial parks to boost local economy.
Pleasure beach has so much history, but does need to stay relevant. Although I’m not sure it’s the best location for an industrial park.
