    Blackpool over 30 years ago, I don't come very often now and I only live in nearby Preston. Not been in the tower for nearly 20 years and never been to the zoo. I have fond memories of going to the Pleasure Beach on a wet day for stockingfeet fun in the Fun House and swimming in the Derby Baths. These were my favourite buildings in Blackpool that no longer exist and were sadly not rebuilt.

      So sad ,it was magical as kid ,I was here in 89 ,9 years old. The arcades were brilliant, 2ps won you great prizes. I loved the worry dolls you could buy on the markets for a pound and the mini pianos you could actually play songs on for penny's. I went to Blackpool again around 10 years ago and took my son who was 5 at the time,so so sad,the hole magic had gone ,it was full of homeless, unkept. Anything and everything cost stupid prices and the arcades hit me the worse 😢 it didn't matter how much money you put in ,you won nothing or crap. Watching this made me remember the great times I had with my gran here ,gone forever 💔miss them times, the old Blackpool, and my gran ,treasured memories ❤

    Best memories of my life... I was 14 when that video was made... Went every year since I was 2.... 20 years since I've been. Before we could afford the plane we used to travel by Sealink from Dublin..train from Holyhead to crewe to Preston... The excitement of who could be the first to see the Tower in between kirkam and Poulton... Blackie was a pure dream the first 15 days of August...

      Lovely to see Blackpool from 34 years ago. Am amazed to see all the people on lower walk near the go cart place at the Cliffs, if you go there now on a hot summer's day, you would be lucky to see one or two people. Lovely to see the old trams, running up and down the Promenade, some are now part of the Heritage Trams but most are not. Great to see the Pleasure Beach before the Big One. I first came to Blackpool on a day trip from London on 5 November weekend sometime in the 90s, I think the year the Big One was built. Came again the following year. Started coming on holidays in the 00s because my partner's family live here. Moved here August 23. I love looking at old fotos and videos of Blackpool, thank you. Xxx

    I was a week away from my 13th birthday when this video was shot. Might be a case of looking through rose tinyed specs, but the world just seemed a much better place back then.
    Had some great times at blackpool, on what we ised to call 'Sunday School trips'. We must of gone on one, roughly the same time as this was shot, as i can remember the trams with Jimmy Cricket on the side.

    So much character back in those days. It felt like being in another world a million miles away from home. A proper seaside town with unique shops and attractions. These days its lost its soul and apart from the sea, tower and pleasure beach its got very little to offer. Even the trams these days are modern junk with no character.

    • @55DEGREESNORTH68
      @55DEGREESNORTH68  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree about the trams but unfortunately they had no option to upgrade them for modern times it’s still good they run the heritage trams though

  • @Embracing01
    @Embracing01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    When Blackpool's trams looked like Blackpool's trams the ones we where familiar with. Now the trams look like they could be from any other town and city in the country and even the world, all soulless like something straight out of a dystopian futuristic film set in the year 2030 or something. All deliberate IMO to destroy the town's identity, nothing to do with modernising and making things more practical. Alot of those motors would be worth a few bob today, particular those Ford Escorts. The money some of those fetch today is ridiculous.
    Mighty White, when did that go out of fashion?. Haven't seen that for years. I bet that would be too PC today with all this diversity crap going on. When you visit the Pleasure Beach and not have to go for all this security nonsense being treated like a slave and having your belongings checked. We are having our freedoms taken away more and more these days, and just look at the world now with all this Covid nonsense. Love that Pet Shops Boys song in the background playing, proper days of good music (I think Domino Dancing was a few years old at that time). Walk around Pleasure Beach today and it'll be Nikki Minaj or some other crap.

      Totally agree about the trams used to love the old ones when I was a kid when you look back now the 80s was a hell of a decade you could just walk into the pleasure beach. I also agree when you look at the cars and think what some would be worth now

    • @Embracing01
      @Embracing01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@55DEGREESNORTH68 Some of the cars from that era shouldn't be worth the money they seem to fetch, I think the nostalgia factor is to reason for that. Even the other attractions you can't just walk into these days because of all the fear mongering of "terrorism".
