@Yo Mama Knives. Hey man. I purchased some Flytanium CF Basket Weave Crossfade scales for my Bugout. I like the design of the carbon fiber, but there is like ZERO gloss to the scales. They almost look like tree bark. On top of that, the black isn’t deep at all… they look almost gray and chalky. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the scales so that they have a deep black, but still keep the texture (or at least SOME texture)? I saw a video of a guy suggesting bugging with headlight hazexremover, followed up with MacGuire’s Tech Wax. His results were a smooth, deep black scale. My concern would be that the wax will get crusty over time and I’d lose the texture, which is pretty important when handling a knife. In a perfect world, I’d get my Flytanium scales to look more like Benchmade’s CF on the 535-3 Bugout. Any tips you have are appreciated. Thanks!
Side note: At the end of your video, you said CF is very brittle. Am I better off going with G10 if I want a lightweight scale? I’m looking to have an alternative to the aluminum scales on my 535-4 Bugout. Thanks again!

Hey Jason, thanks for the comment. For the first part, I'd return the scales if you don't like them. You really won't be able to finish them easily, no way I can think of. The lack of gloss is ok though imo, meaning there is less epoxy and more of the fiber.
For a lightweight, I actually like the steel to be as corrosion resistent as pissible, if that's with cf or g10 handles I'm happy. Lightweights go with me hiking and in the summers here. I'd only worry cosmetically if the cf dropped, I do drop knives but not often thankfully. The Spyderco Manix 2 lw, Buck Vantage and now Sprint line, Benchmade bugout, spyderco delica, these have been my go to for lw folders.
