    I made this exact recipe last night and it was incredible!! The marinade, the salsa, everything was fantastic. I added grilled peppers and onions and it was a total hit. Thanks so much for the video

    I used to avoid skirt and flank steaks for fear that these cuts are tough and difficult to work with. After watching this video, I tried your recipe, and my flank steak turned out perfectly! My grill is in need of repairs, so I prepared the dish on the stovetop using a cast iron skillet and avocado oil. Texture and flavor were so enjoyable! I intend to have this again soon. Thank you so much. You got me going in a good direction!

    OK...made this recipe. The marinade is simple and very tasty...but the salsa/guac is Amazing! My family is eating the leftovers as dip. I made 2 changes, doubled the Jalepeno in the salsa and added cumin in the marinade. Perfect for my pallet. No fresh tomatillo her in Florida...so used canned...which is good...because they are already soft...so no boiling required. This is a keeper, many thanks. And oh by the way...love your happy and cool delivery!!

    I'm from Texas and we use the skirt steak for fajita tacos. I moved here to southern Cali and couldn't find skirt steak. Even the main Hispanic store Villarta doesn't even carry it. Now that Walmart moved into Burbank, I can find it, thank God!! People here dont know about this amazing cut!! Plus you need to cut it against the grain so it pulls apart when you bit it.

    Apple cider vinegar say whaaaaaaa?!? Welli will try it as I have never heard of it lol.
    2oz paprika
    2oz chili powder
    2oz oregano
    2oz cumin
    4oz soy sauce
    1oz minced garlic
    1oz fresh ground pepper
    2 limes squeezed
    And 2 cups store bought orange juice
    Mix it all together to make the marinade and marinade the meat 24hrs in fridge then cut up cilantro and mince up onion toss it all on warm corn tortillas and boom taco's.

    Me encanto el marinado y agradezco que compartas tus conocimientos. Sin embargo, no es la receta de tacos callejeros; verás, el "secreto" de los tacos callejeros es precisamente poner la carne en la plancha a fuego máximo y sin agregar más que sal y limón al momento. Espero no te moleste mi comentario porque no es mi intención. Saludos cordiales.

    • @Spartankidoutdoors
      @Spartankidoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what temp you like your meat. Skirt steak still tastes amazing well done. So, that’s an internal temp of 160+. As for what temp you set your grill to, I would say 350 is a sweat spot but up to 400.

We just moved into a townhouse with a small kitchen and unfortunately I do not have a blender to make the salsa but I really want to try it. Could I still boil the ingredients and mash them up really well to make the salsa or should I skip it? 🥺 also, could I marinate them broil the meat in the oven? We haven’t been able to get a grill as of yet. This looks so delicious

    Hat's off to you for cooking your steak done! Bloody, rare meat is for wild animals....and for those who want foot long parasites living inside their body. I use to love traditional American style tacos until I tried "Street Style". Now I don't want anything else but Street tacos. Much healthier without a bunch of greasy meat, fried shell, and cheese and sour cream. Just lime, onions, and a lot of cilantro. Simple and delicious.

    What does cut against the grain mean? I'm learning how to cook so bare with me 😭 being an independent adulthood finally, I need to learn how to feed myself and husband. Thanks!

    • @Spartankidoutdoors
      @Spartankidoutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the grain is the direction the muscle fibers go. The best way to explain it is if you laid out spaghetti noodles in a straight line you want to cut across them ( against the grain) vs with the grain. If you cut meat following the grain you will get tougher, much more chewy meat. I hope this helps!

    A few tips. Acids like citric in lime, lemon, or orange juice or vinegar actually makes meats tougher. Next time make your marinade without either, add some worchestershire sauce or soy sauce (don't use any salt then) then marinade overnight. Add the vinegar and orange 1/2 hour before cooking. Using slices of citrus fruits for long marinades is also a bad idea, the white pith gets very bitter. Put a few slices in a cup of water, and chill overnight, now take a taste of the water the next day to see how bad it tastes.
    One last thing, always cut beef perpendicular to the grain, not with the grain as you did.

  • @lukeleonard3382
    @lukeleonard3382 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I’m going to be perfectly honest. I’m a little bewildered you’re using oranges. Now I’m of course going to try it.. however how much of that are we tasting here? I don’t exactly want to be feeling like I’m biting into an orange. I prefer my meat pulp free but I am going to give it a shot. Thank for the tip!

    Killer! I found some carne asada cause at the grocery store the other day and I will use that for salsa for now on. Had the lime flavor and the spice!
