Last year my brother got the inside of his wrist cut clean by a skate blade, luckily it missed anything important and only cut some tendons and nerves. This was below beer league pickup hockey. Shit can happen on the ice and I find it crazy that after we've seen stuff like this so many times before there still aren't any rules or regulations for proper safety equipment. As far as I know this is the only time someone's gotten killed from a cut like that, but I'm sure there any hundreds that have come close not just in the nhl but across the world. One is enough. Make the changes. Thoughts and prayers go out to Adam's friends, family, and teammates. RIP

If you believe this wasn't on purpose you need to pick up as many lottery tickets as you can possibly afford. It’s a consequence of reckless plays by a player and fact skates have blades. Adam Johnson neck was not cut on purpose and it’s messed up that everyone is saying it was. Adam’s death was a tragedy. Petgrave made a very reckless play that will haunt him for the rest of this life. But Petgrave didn’t mean to slice Adams neck Period. Anyone who says otherwise is just looking for someone to blame because they can’t understand the concept of a freak accident. Johnson’s team even publicly described the event as a freak accident.
