Always enjoy the weekly penguin talk. Much more logical than most of the other sources. Thanks for doing these
Seems like Nylander had a bigger role in Columbus and thrived. Daniel Sprong did better when he left too. It happens sometimes.
Sorry I missed it live
*Zach Hyman. Transposed Michael Bunting and Zach Hyman
😂 I caught that and knew exactly what you did.
sound is going in and out for me. love the content!

Looks like those spots were weak wifi from the source software
@@NationalHockeyNow I'm going to chalk it up to my headphones. :) It seemed to be when you were speaking louder and it was like your setup was limiting the top end.
@@ppeder I thought so too-until I heard the lag. I’ll get it right.
Hellberg would good as the 3rd goalie again. Nice, big, steady when needed. They can play the type of D needed in front of an immobile big guy.
Check the freezer lol
If he’s available I hope the pens draft Cole Hutson. He’ll probably be gone though
are you drinking?
I'd buy Dan a drink. And his dog one too!
Realistically, how likely that Geno becomes a winger and how do you think he'd take it if he does?
Hey Dan. Too bad the slim jim was empty... The sound is good.. Maybe the best so far.
Always appreciate your thoughts and insight, even though typically watching a few days late. Go Pens
Martinook is the best that you mentioned. Like the age and the cost. That would be a nice line.
Day fucking one
Great goalie and person .
what about a left defenseman like Brenden Dillon or matt grezlcyk or sean walker? if they can move on from graves
Any rumors on any trades? Utah has 9 forwards and 0 defensmen on the NHL roster currently and is sitting at $44M right now. They definitely need some contracts to get to the cap floor.
Crosby, Rust, EK 65, Letang ,goalie and 14 Buntings !
Excellent
Keep up the great work
Love ya man!
Love the description about what physicality is, some people act like you're talking about a cavemen hitting some player over the head with his club. I'm always referring to exactly what you're getting it. Guys that use their body, what strength they possess, and a cool-headed aggression, to prevent the opposing team from just camping our net all game, blocking our goalies vision, getting rebound trash in our net, all game, night after night. In the playoffs especially you gotta bump these guys off the puck, off their game, off their position. Can't just chill there and stand next to them, hoping you can lift their stick or something at the perfect moment.
Should they not just trade away all their draft picks for the remaining years that Crosby is there? Need NHL proven players now, we don’t have time to develop players and waste Crosby’s last years. Then when Crosby retires we go back to developing players….maybe have a bad year and get a good chance at 1st round pick. Idk if it’s good that they went on that streak this year and lost this years 1st rd pick (although they would had chance at lottery draft being like 7th worst if they would kept losing), but now they have next years 1st rd pick instead of keeping this years cause deal was if they finished 12th or better they lose this years 1st rd, if they’d finish in bottom 11th or worse they would kept this years and gave up next years.
NO. can't trade away the future or you'll get what they had in the early 2000s. If you don't remember them, Dick Tarnstrum, a defenseman, lead the team in scoring with 62 points. They were the team other teams padded their stats against.
Hey Real DK, listen back to this, there are multiple points where there are mic issues...
Just realized DK squared for Pittsburgh Sports 😂
How is that physicality argument working out. We had jack johnson he was blamed for everything. Dragging down the rush. Gudbranson as well. Everyone was over the moon for jeff petry trade. Sorry but that trade was terrible and petry is playing sheltered 3rd pairing minutes in Detroit. So the physicality argument is ridiculous. You cant have it both ways. Either have speed and skill on the blueline or size and physicality with little speed and skill. This fan base goes back and fourth its redundant. Very few players have speed skill size and physicality on the blueline.
Booooooo!!!!! 😡
Two mill for Brossoit would be a bargain. Then dump Jarry and his contract and use the $3M difference to help sign a quality FA
Good luck BUNTS…miss ya in Toronto!❤
There’s a bigger problem with this team and it all starts from FSG. Absentee ownership is the biggest issue here. If you have Zero oversight from the top down you will never know what’s going on from the bottom up. Dubas has a terrible record for signings, look at Toronto. He’s the Cashman of the NHL, overpaying for people leaving their prime. Everyone wanted Dubas because of analytics, analytics are good when chemistry in the team produces before too. Look at the HBK line. Then, you all blame sully as being the issue. Sure he needs to change some things and let young players, play. Look at the cards he was dealt too. Now you have a GM, President, and whatever other self given occupation Kyle is giving himself to turn the Penguins into the Pittsburgh Maple Leafs. Mario was very involved and it worked well. FSG is an investment group, and this team’s failure surely seems like it’s owned by an investment group. But, you get what you ask for; Dubas EK65, Graves, Reilly Smith, etc… it’s really not that hard to see the issues here. Then you trade what we need, Jake Guentzel which is another topic. As for the team, 85% lack ambition. No drive. No heart. No grit. They cared when it was just too late. And that’s all outside of the players like Crosby Malkin Tanger Rust and Eller who brought it every game. Sully is a great coach, remove your emotions from your brain on that. Look at the team in 2016 and 2017, the pens wanted it more than anything. Crosby gave it his everything, other players did not. Haven’t you learned trading someone away from the team that you need? You get rid of sully, looking for another coach like sully. Rant over
Best player ever!!! aND Cute!!!!! Lmao
Hearing Mikey Johnston’s name again is like hearing fingers scratch a chalkboard. He was awful. “Trust the process”- HCMJ
i am not saying sullivan is a bad coach; he is a good coach. i just think the message is old. Scotty bowman, paul maurice, lindy ruff, laviolette, gallant have all changed addresses at some point. easier to remove the coach than 21 players. As for sullivan, 2 ownership groups, 3 GMs and turn over of the entire assistant coaching staff. the only position that hasnt changed is head coach. 21 games lost by 1 goal? led the league in games lost after leading heading into the 3rd period? led the league in short handed goals? dressing guys like harkins (0 goals in 53 games) over a # of other players?
I agree 100%
I can already forecast we’ll be back here a year from today lamenting how they missed the playoffs and what an over his head GM needs to do to fix it. There is no fixing this anytime soon. They had a great run.
Effeminate drama queen
Nearly everything went wrong this past season and they still nearly made it....Pens make the playoffs next season
Dubas is average GM constructing a team...Average GM's are a plenty...good coaches are few....Dubas spent over 6 mil on players that were fringe NHLers...hinostroza, nietto, pulijarvi, harkins, koppanen....I can list more....he got less than 10 goals and a bottom 6 that left too much on malkin and crosby's line. In comparison, he could have saved that 6 mil and if he liked Bunting, he could have signed him for 4.5...had some left over to get a fourth liner like Glendening.....or...what I thought....nyqvist, geekie, glendening.. That would have been: Crosby, Rust, Guentzel.......Malkin, Rakell, Smith/Geekie.....Eller, Nyqvist, Geekie........Glendening, O'Connor, Carter, Puustinen, Acciari .........tell me for the money he spent in the off season...that assembly there wouldn't have been more complete a line-up? He did the same in Toronto....was given 2 lines of good players by Hunter and Lameirello.....and could not put together a bottom 6. So I would rather he not go crazy and just bring his guys from Toronto or the Soo Greyhounds...and in the process get rid of a good coach.....I'd rather somehow he figure out how to construct a team.
3.45 mil he spent on bottom 6 signings (pullijarvi, bemstrom, harkins), hinostroza, nietto, koppanen in off season. That is 2.6 million.....6 mil in spending on 13th forwards from other teams.....For that amount if he liked Bunting, he could have spent 4.5 to get him. Add 2 mil for Geekie.... or you could have gone Nyqvist, Geekie, Glendening...for approx 6 mil. That would have given you Crosby, Rust, Guentzel......Malkin, Rakell, Smith.....Eller, Nyqvist, Geekie.....Acciari, Glendening, Carter....puustinen is your 13th forward.... The point is....the way Dubas constructs his team is average....and average GM's are a plenty....a good coach is not....they are hard to come by...just look at the number of teams that cycle through coaches
Matt Murray would probably be a disaster.
I'll take Sullivan over Dubas any day. Meaning I don't want Dubas' guy. His guy is someone he's had a relationship with who likely won't have the level for this team. Dubas isn't great team constructor easy to show over his 6 year career....6 years is his nil career and was given full power...what a not smart move by ownership.
Karlsson to Toronto for Mitch Marner and bring back Guentzel Pens will make playoffs for sure
Maybe Jarry since they need a goalie.
Nobody wanted Karlsson last summer why would anyone want him now? Toronto would wet themselves laughing at that trade
@@NESADDICT Maybe Edmonton will trade McDavid for malkin too!
@@scottconrad4719 ha wouldn’t that be a fever dream come true.
Toronto's powerplay needs help. Karlsson is awesome.@@scottconrad4719
I don't think it would be a good idea to get Marner. Pens need more toughness, not Marnerness.
Agreed. We don’t need our own version of the core 4….wait we have it already
mixed feelings....adding that skill level to the top 6 is an intoxicating thought....then i get a pit in my stomach thinking about him checking out in the playoffs...wilting under the least bit of pressure
Always love the trade suggestions . Why didn’t Dubas think of trading Jarry to Edm for McDavid and Draistle ?!? Ok ok…Get real, right ?? Ok , throw in a 7th with Jarry , if they eat some of McDavids salary . We can figure it out , why can’t Dubas? 🙄🤨🙄🤨🤬
Jarry might love to go there since he played juniors there. Idk bout nuthin but maybe they could get something. If oilers lose series then they might get desperate for another goaltender. Same for a few other teams (ie LA)
@@FlavorCountryUSA POiNT BEING …that market needs to stop running goalies outta town. Grew up being coached by NHLers Danny Gare , Mike Laughton and more . You got hammered with 50 faults of other players on any given goal against before you blame a goalie. That’s lost these days .
@@christopherweir6445 word
People, don’t yet understand what the Pens traded away, Crosby knows, this isn’t like trading a Sheary. Jake’s hockey IQ is more than people think, which I believe would have really shined apart from Sid….. when he retired… Don’t be surprised if you hear regularly out of Carolina, wow this guy looks a bit like Crosby, the way he sees the ice, play making ability with redirecting shots especially & passing. With not moving cost heavy players (Not EK) that will eventually be gone in the near future. With a pivotal Trade Deadline so important, not supporting the two most consistent behind Sid in both goalies probably getting rid of both, mismanagement of the team, and probably losing Crosby to Dubas’s action or inaction in a vote of no confidence. Not very likely, but it would be crazy if Sid went to Carolina, giving them a discount to play with Jake and win another championship. Should’ve only traded Jake for the sky, Bunting is alright but im tellin you, Jake downloaded Sid’s game, not like opponents watching tape or even playing beside him in the Olympics or All-Star game, but from Sid himself & the perspective of being not just under his wing, but being his actual wing. I think Jake continues to get better, how much better remains to be seen, but another championship for him is very possible this year. Pens lose. The Core loses, EK included & that just plain sucks. Dubas is an idiot…. Good analysis, great work 👍
No one from Toronto, no thank you
Nostril cam
Jeff Carter running the PP
PO Joseph is trash. Does not belong in the NHL.
You said you’d get a 2C (which I love and agree with). Would you move Malkin to 2-Wing or 3C? Was also disappointed to hear you’d save money next year to have the ability to take on bad contracts at the deadline to get 2025 picks. Can’t sell already. Buy whatever good players you can and go out swinging.
Bring in kav
He should've got fired in December, if that would've happened they would've made the playoffs
Jay Woodcroft
All of you couch coaches saying that Sully needs to go. I disagree 100%. It is not Sully's fault that Hextall fucked up the team. Sully used the pieces he had.
