- The editing community is a place filled with toxicity, and there's no escaping it. In this video I talk about what problems the editing community can face and how to solve them.
This was insane.
If you're reading this far in the description, comment 'ice cube' and I'll reply to you!
This video took me almost a month to make, so I would really appreciate it if you liked, commented and subscribed :)

Do you think Capcut is a good editing app for transition edits? Reply below!
If u know how to use it
@@Molix-Editz yh but either way it does look choppy
@@Icecubify if you know how to use it , but it's So Much BETTER if u have pro version in desktop
I do transitions in capcut, they’re not the best. but it’s very enjoyable and very easy!
i dont think its good for transitions.
Your videos are so underrated can’t wait to see you grow 😍
THANK YOU SMMM!! 1.3M subs is crazy :O, congrats on that!
nah the fact that anyone doesn’t see this is crazy lol
Omggggg how has no one seen thisss I love your editsss
AEDEVIII !!!!!
He's here 😮
as a capcut editor, i’ve seen so many editors that don’t use ae, make so many amazing edits. using ae doesn’t automatically make u amazing.
fr.
I use CapCut and video star but TikTok doesn’t give me views but editors who use AE gets views
i love Ae and adobe premiere pro for editing capcut is just for captions
@@Messaoud02 true the app itsekf aint rlly meant for that i used to use capcut
this! capcut and ae are both amazing but i often see people talk about capcut users like they dont have talent 😔
As an editor who’s been editing since CapCut popular in 2020, I agree with all of this. An editing app does not define the editor themself in any way. I recently moved over to CapCut Pro and I saw less hate comments. Sure, I removed all of them but there was a good amount of criticism. And not the good kind. I would love to see this in a longer longer video. You’re kinda giving the “Visual Venture” type vibe if you know who he is. I love this video and I think every editor (no matter the App) should be aware of this.
I agree kettle
Fr tho kettle
I use Canva to edit, which isnt a software, its a website, and not the best for edits, and i edit on my laptop/computer, and i cant use Capcut, AE, Etc, and i hate using Canva.
So true kettle!
HELLO MOTHER
The Lauren part! I was always sad for the editors who use her style and got completely ignored. No one compliments them, just bragging about Lauren all over there.
who is she and how can i see her style of editing. and what can i learn for her edits? if you know let me know:)
@@totalgamer9945 She’s a famous editor. Her style mostly involves 3D transitions type edits. Her famous edit was that green pill (or something like that) edit. You can search her up
When I first started editing I felt this way, it was hard and seeing how small channels got treated or how they got ignored while the bigger channels were idolized. This is wrong, everyone deserves respect, whether they have 20 subs, 2,000 subs, or 200,000. Everyone starts somewhere and the fact that people are toxic in the editing community when it’s supposed to be fun just sucks. Editors should feel safe and support each other while making and posting stuff they enjoy, yes, the publicity is nice but seeing that people enjoy what you make, the editor enjoying making edits of their favorite fandoms and celebrities is what it should be about, not subs and likes. Thank you for this video it’s amazing
I deal with tons of hate everyday sometimes I want to quit but I keep going so thank you for sharing this.
i'm so happy someone's finally talking/making a video about this. these things needed to be talked about. you did an AMAZING job at explaining how the editing community can be SO toxic. I can tell you're going to grow really fast, you're so underrated
:,))))) thank you so much! I'm really happy a lot of people relate and can see where I'm coming from. and yea, there's not many videos like this! looking forward to growing :))
@@Icecubify I rlly hope you grow as much as possible!!
the last phrase you said "treat people, how you want to be treated" is SO real. if you want people to comment on your edits then you gotta comment on people's edits first so they comment back on yours. by treating people the same way you want to be treated you'll get the treatment you want. i realized this when i started commenting wayyy more on people's edits. such a good video
thank you! I think it's very important to show interest and appreciation to other editors, because then you'll get that praise right back at you. whereas if you spread hate, you're more likely to get hate back.
yes! my rule of thumb is always to strive to be the nicest and kindest in any group

I swear. I've been an editor for 5+ years and I had to jump multiple channels because I was getting unnecessary hate. I've started to notice the constant drama around the community too. I am honestly not surprised. I stopped posting edits on my channel and if this keeps up I will probably quit editing now. It's just not worth it anymore..
I want to learn how to edit but I’m getting quite discouraged by the toxicity that I’ve been seeing in the community
that's fair, but just remember there's toxicity in every community. I wouldn't let that be a reason to not follow your passion. there's plenty of good in the editing community, too :)
@@Icecubify thank you for the reply, I will make sure to be positive. I hope your channel continues to grow, you have lots of talent!
Thank you for opening my eyes to fully realise why some people decide to just be toxic instead of giving constructive criticism. It all makes so much sense now :O!!
nAH
jit got me focused like its a movie
very dramatic but that was the vibe I was going for hahahah
@@Icecubify nailed it.
@@Icecubify im not an editor i just enjoy them very much and i can say before hand that i have subscribed to editors with low views and subs but insane potential so this biased hierachy doesn't sit with me well
using your platform and skills to create awareness within a community where the superficial or trendy is valued more than authenticity or passion is SUCH a superior move, because people use that metric to give """justified hate""" to others who are just... doing what they love or trying to improve. this was needed !!
THANKS FOR SPEAKING UP ABT THIS⭐️💞
thank you so much for speaking up about this 🙏 i've noticed this too much that people who edit on after effects are instantly seen as "superior" and there is no room left for the beginners to emerge as the "talented ones" among the community. Plus the way you talked about constructive criticism , i totally agree with that. Nowadays constructive criticism is nothing but just straight up hate which can make the other person who's receiving it hate himself/herself's edits which is totally wrong and shouldn't be done. I appreciate you so much for making this eye-opening video🙏
Heavy on the lauren, i went on a undercover acc and people KEEPS calling me lauren when i lit revealed that i wasnt. They’re DESPERATE to be in a video.
And i do agree the editing comm is toxic as hell. People think that theres a app that is inferior, thibk yhat they solo, mostly the shakes editors theyre so toxic for no reasons.
You are UNDERRATED and deserve more views ❤ i hope this blows up!
thank you I’ve been in the editing community for almost 2 years and I’ve seen how it has change so much in good and toxic ways
I've seen your videos on my FYP before and always watched them here and there. But this, this is so incredibly well made and needs more attention! You've said everything that I've been thinking, honestly. You're so underrated as well, I wish you all the best with your journey ♡
awww thank you so much🫶🫶😭
this video showed a lot of controversial and hidden things within the editing community you don't see at first glance. this almost felt like a documentary and you depicted it very well.
tysm for saying this more people need to see this you explained this so well I really hope more people see this
Best editing documental yet, nice job ❤
thank you!
thank you so much for this, i never got the fact that if you used ae you are automatically better i have seen so many alightmotion, capcut or videostar editors make betters edits then some ppl do on ae, at the end of the day editing is something most of us do cause we like it, its our passion and something that brings us joy where are we putting someone down who is jus following their passion, i jus wish we could all jus cherish what we love and enjoy editing as a community
im so happy someone has the Audicity to post this u ate girl. I did a vid like this a while ago and got a lot of hate so had to take it down. I relate sm to this, like this happens to me all the time and I need ti hide the them from my channel bc if not they keep on hating, im not a big editor, but I work hard on my edits just to make ppl an entertainment source! Bc my goal is not mainly to get subs or likes bc Ik its gonna flop
this channel is sooo underrated 🐐🔥
this situation is much better in yt i believe
i also agree with you with the line: "it doesn't matter what software you're using, it depends on how you use them"
okay but your editing on this video ate
i manifest for this video to go viral so people can see you’re spitting out STRAIGHT FACTS 🗣️🗣️🗣️
omg! i feel this as a capcut editor, people need to STOP being so toxic
LET HER COOK OMGGG. as an editor i agree with every statement that you said. keep it up!
THIS GOTTA GO VIRAL GOSH
HOLY YOUR UNDERRATED AF😭😭 this video def got me thinking the editings fire🙏🙏
i’ve been editing using capcut since i think 2021.
i agree with everything here, its better to be a kind and humble editor even if you are small and a beginner to be rude. popularity can cause big, toxic egos. this video has opened my eyes a little, thank you
Girl u ate with this
OMGG DAMNNN THE INTRO GAME ME CHILLS, IT MADE ME WANNA WATCH MORE UR SO GOOD OMG!!
AAH THANK YOU SHAUN!
At this point I must say that as an editor I'm really very lucky. When I started editing I didn't had editor friends on youtube, I don't even knew we can make friends here. Gradually I focused on a single fandom which was Miraculous. By making edits of this fandom I gained so many editor friends who are very very supportive. As a person I'm also very supportive and friendly. That's why I got so many friends here.
I don't even get to use any of the mentioned apps, I use Vivacut. [we need to purchase ae, am is hard to me, vediostar, capcut, is not available in my country]
Anyways the last line is so true 'Treat others, how you want to be treated'
I can say this from my experience
THIS IS ACTUALLY AMAZING
I've been editng for almost 7 years and seeing the editing community getting toxic year by year is so saddening. I 100% agree with everything you've said! No one has the right to ever hate on any editor for the app or program they use because not everyone can afford a laptop? or even the app/ program itself ( even if cracked versions exist not everyone knows how it works) also it depends on the persons ability to use the app itself and getting creative at using it. But Ima be honest here there are many undderated editors out there that no one appreciates their work which is so unfair tbh it's like everyone is really not giving a chance for beginner/ small editors to grow and get recognized more... giving all the hype to "big editors" when literally 50% of them are seriously so toxic and fake. Also let's just not talk about how templates literally are taking over real edits.. I miss how supportive and fair the editing community used to be in 2019-2022 everyone was so lovely and genuinely enjoyed editing, making friends, help eachother in editing and even help eachother grow, when now all they do is keep on stealing/ leaking people's editing resources and create drama and be rude for no reason.
i actually love how professional this video seems. u did a great job tysm for making this💗
I was once a person who use to judge people's edits and i deeply regret that. I respect everyone's edits that put efforts in it. It's a shame we live in a society that mostly cares for themselves and do not think for others. I started editing like 8 months ago as i started on capcut then slowly shifted to alight. This video is the best documentary of editors, about most of this video is very relatable with the flops , the toxicity and others. As a small editor i was looked down upon and i am still am do this day , i chose to ignore it to be honest. The negativity can really change people a lot. I believe the overall message is people who put a lot of effort into their edits no matter the outcome should be respected for their efforts that allows editors to keep on pushing and improving. This is just an opinion thank you for this video.
This is so real! I've been thinking that the editing community can be really toxic for so long, specially when i began editing. Of corse there are also many really nice people in the community, but as a beginner your edits will absolutely get hated.
I would also like to add the short form factor of social media is the reason why velo & shake capcut edits get a lot of more hype compared to fully fleshed edits.
And I know it's kinda sad, i miss the 30+ sec fully fledged insta edits that told a story and were creative. It's just that these types of edits aren't holding people's attention and aren't a hit for the algorithm anymore unless you're already known in the community, i.e: lauren.
this is so real
I'm so excited. I can't wait 2 more days 🤗
ANNA THIS IS SO GOOD
TY FOR SPEAKING UP < WE LOVE YOU GIRL
Thanks for making a video about it.
one detail I wanted to add is that many editors started editing with Capcut, and that when they started to hesitate with A and they start to make fun of the edit.g program they started with, it doesn't make sense. it's really repetitive and annoying to put "omg Capcut" there once, twice, but after a lot of videos it's really annoying.
I really hope that people understand that they need to stop being toxic
UNDERRATED AHH 🔥🙏
I didn’t use ae or am until I managed to upgrade my skills. Started as a capcut editor, now I’m a am editor but soon going to shift to ae. Through this journey, the thing I got is uplifting my skills. That’s what this whole editing community should be about. Of course using ae or am wouldn’t make a you a legendary editor but it does have better options. Which however would be obviously based on your capability of editing and learning new things.
ICE CUBEEE!!!
Thank you for making this video 😭🙏🏻 we need more people in the editing community to seriously see this!!
I love your content so much, keep up the amazing work. ilyy
If a big editor posts an edit which isn't their best work, they'll get so much praise while if a smaller editor posts something that isn't their best work, they'll get so much hate
True asf
Because the big editors post is prob still good enough to earn praise🤷🏾♂️
@@PhinnyVFXokay? But I can spend like two and a half days on an edit not get good views, not get a lot of likes , and get not comments. I think mine is still good enough. So why can’t I get any praise?

Perfect explanation!
Great Video! I'm from another part of the editing community and I do agree the community is hella toxic. That being said the toxicity is what made a lot of the editors better, like the person in the video I used to get pissed when people called my videos stiff but once I started listening(it took a few months ngl). I started improving like crazy and started becoming a better editor but also the better I got the longer the videos took and the more unmotivated I felt making them, once I posted them they performed worse than my simpler edits. Talking to a lot of my friends about the main reason most editors quit and half the reason the community is as toxic as it is. The other half is from editing groups and editing units trying to have better members making them more and more selective, resulting in harder feedback. Personally, I'm fine with it because it helps me improve but it does hurt my ego. Oh also one more thing I've seen mobile editors do wayyy better than ae editors. Some of these editors quit like 2 years ago and are still better than me while as other editors on cap cut, Node Video, and alight are getting so good you can't tell they are mobile editors. The views do come mostly from super simple edits with some coming ultra complex ones, with that you'll get hate from better editors but then again at that point, you're probably editing for the algorithm. Anyway, I'm done yapping I just wrote this for the new editors so they kinda get how everything works and dont get demotivated.
Wow this is so good, keep it up 🔥🔥
Ty TH-cam for recommending this video to me 🙏🙏🙏
As an editor I completely agree
Thanks for making this video , cant wait to see you grow more
Thank you so much I’ve discovered your channel today but I’m in love with it I’m also and editor you could say beginner all your points are valid I don’t have a pc so I don’t use ae but the some people do they are known as the best editor I’m not hating on ae editors but I’m hating on people that judge us by the app we use thanks Anna you’re awesome ❤ your style , this documentary it got me to the end of the video thanks ❤
GREAT video Anna!
This is why I try to go out of my way to never be rude or toxic with others.
I remember someone talking bad about my edit and it’s trash and I didn’t say anything and I just didn’t want to start drama but he/she was kind of right tho, and I’m very thankful for the person who stand up for me
Ppl also need to think abt the fact that ae costs money, and many ppl aren’t willing to pay that fee for an editing software
if were being real most people who use ae crack it: the main reason people dont have access to ae is being on mobile
@@nonimaginary its really expensive too and I use CapCut desktop to edit bc I’m not willing to pay that much money for an editing software cs I dont have enough money
STOP I SAW UR MINECRAFT EDIT ON TIKTOK OMG YOUR SO TALENTED MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED WHEN I SAW IT
As an editor, I 100% agree.
THE LAST PHRASE IT'S SO REAL GIRL, FACTS, I don't have much to say, just that I am an AE editor who has been in this for more than 6 years, and some of my best friends on the Tiktok platform are Capcut editors, with this I don't mean that AE ones are bad I also have very good friends from that program, I simply think that we should support each other, giving help and constructive criticism to the new ones, because once upon a time we were all beginners and I don't think we would have liked to be treated badly.
5:37 i love the little videostar icon while ur using ae 😂
this is an amazing video omg, you covered everything so well ive seen so much people (beginners especially) get lots of toxic comments and im so glad someone actually talked about it. you're rlly talented anf you have a great personality i hope u grow angel
Great video 🙌🏽
2:48 personally it depends, if you've blown up and you've got thousands of comments all at once (and most of these editors might either have school, work or just a life in general) they might not have time to reply to all. overall good video
Why is this so real🙏🏽
Idk who you are but I’m sending my support. Your voice is peaceful too. You’ll go far on this platform
wow. the video sooo good 😍 new sub
The editing in this video is a w I want to edit like this also w video this has so Many good points on why it is toxic
THIS VIDEO IS SO WELL MADE OMG NEW SUBSCRIBER
as a small editor i’ve honestly never seen the toxic side of the editing community, but of course there are the toxicity in every community
The amount of times I’ve seen people saying ‘they didn’t even try’ or ‘that edit is so ugly’ is insane. No one deserves this. Stop it
me hoping onto youtube to find a clip for an edit i’m making only to find this video and now i’m low key terrified to edit
1:35 THIS IS SO TRUE! Beginner editors need motivation, not hate.
i’ve been using capcut lately and it’s not as basic as it used to be tbh. u can make rlly good shake and velocity edits. i’ve used funimate for like 2 yrs and i rlly love the 3d transition edits u can make w it, but tbh i like both the same
Cannot wait to see you grow! I’ve been subscribed to you since 300 subs ❤
OG!
as an editor ive been ignored by so many big editors. when i see other big editors commenting on theirs they reply/heart their comment. its genuinely so sad to see ppl hate on ppls edits too cuz theres no point in hate on edits.
This is why a love it as a blunt and harsh human
As an editor of capcut and upgraded to after effects i agree, i have a friend of mine that uses capcut and he had a friend who upgraded to after effects and then the after effect editor started to hate the capcut editor (i hope the editing community be more kindly after this video)
We all gotta be kind
underrated af
W video
I feel like it can really easily end up being mostly negative and another thing is that just because you don’t make it in to that standard doesn’t mean you’re an objectively
“bad” editor or that you should do something different to be better, if we were to give you feedback it would be based on our subjective opinions and we feel like that doesn’t make sense as an editor shouldn’t edit in a specific way just because someone else thinks it would be better like that!
Great vid, very relatable keep it up.
I use Capcut Pc but I might never be able to edit on Ae cause my pc doen't support it and I can't afford a new one so I will try and be as good as I possibly can be on Capcut.
omg fr tysm for making this vid, ppl need to stop being toxic to beginners (just because they’re new to the community 🥲) and biased towards different editing platforms, just because a new editor uses ae and/or makes good edits doesn’t mean they’re undercover😭
btw ice cube 😁😁
YOU DESERVE A SUB ✨✨
This video is amazing
1:45 idk if i agree with that 100%, what I’ve seen, if youre kind and a beginner editor, people are generally very supportive. Its when people steal edits, use templates, or put others down for the app they’re using that people are then rude to them
I miss 2022 editing community… more active, less toxic, fun…
My first editing app was Filmora and now i use Capcut.. i did try to learn After Effects, but then I don't know what I'm gonna do with it.. I'm so lost not knowing where to start
I started to learn editing like 3 jears ago and still learning but I've noticed on reddit and tiktok how people react to simple questions from beginners and I was literally disgusted.. Many many talented people are still in the shadows of social media and are genuinely skilled and engage with their community. I hope this never changes with the 'curse' of fame. All in all I think editors animators and all of em should work together since we have the same goal and should never gatekeep shit. But why just why hate on a Beginner? I refused to post shit till now cuz im fucking scared to do so and couldn't cope with the hate or their so called 'constructive criticism'
imma be fr this video is sooo good! :) I'm sure you're gonna be big some day
You really need more subscribers
I'm quite new on ae and i'm still learning, I hope to grow and I have found non toxic communities. I like criticism and I am friends with many big editors
