I've been editng for almost 7 years and seeing the editing community getting toxic year by year is so saddening. I 100% agree with everything you've said! No one has the right to ever hate on any editor for the app or program they use because not everyone can afford a laptop? or even the app/ program itself ( even if cracked versions exist not everyone knows how it works) also it depends on the persons ability to use the app itself and getting creative at using it. i’ve been editing using capcut since i think 2021. i agree with everything here, its better to be a kind and humble editor even if you are small and a beginner to be rude. popularity can cause big, toxic egos. this video has opened my eyes a little, thank you
thank you so much for this, i never got the fact that if you used ae you are automatically better i have seen so many alightmotion, capcut or videostar editors make betters edits then some ppl do on ae, at the end of the day editing is something most of us do cause we like it, its our passion and something that brings us joy where are we putting someone down who is jus following their passion, i jus wish we could all jus cherish what we love and enjoy editing as a community
#1 I LOVE the editing on this video 😍 #2 This is so true, Why do some editors think they are famous and start blocking everyone once they get a paid editing app #3 I personally believe that all editors can acheive their greatest edit, its just that some apps make it easier than others (eg. After effects vs Capcut, or video star vs Alight Motion) NOW BEFORE YOU ATTACK ME IN THE REPLIES I say that it is harder to make an edit on capcut because there are limitations with the app (no 3d, no nulls etc.) That doesnt mean you cant do those things! I've seen countless editors such as my favorite @qolexe make the best edits youll ever seen. He gets creative by sometimes exporting the video multiple times to make the transitions he wants. However, if i wanted to make the same edit as him, I already have nulls to use, and it is as simple as clicking and dragging a little swirly line. Some apps even have nulls, like Alight motion; they can do the exact same thing as i can, but they dont have access to mattes, and 3d camera transforms. Video star has acess to these things.... See where im going? On my phone i have 1000 editing apps, and its confusing to use them once you start editing. Sometimes messing up a transition earlier down the line cant be fixable. Overall, I think that is easier to make edits on apps like After Effects, but that doesnt mean the edits on free editing apps can be bad. They can be sometimes even better. If you use multiple apps you could create an edit that is outstanding.
I see where you are going. Mobile editing apps have certain limitations and ae has a wider variety of effects. Making it easier to edit on there instead of switching between apps.
I would also like to add the short form factor of social media is the reason why velo & shake capcut edits get a lot of more hype compared to fully fleshed edits.
And I know it's kinda sad, i miss the 30+ sec fully fledged insta edits that told a story and were creative. It's just that these types of edits aren't holding people's attention and aren't a hit for the algorithm anymore unless you're already known in the community, i.e: lauren.
that's fair, but just remember there's toxicity in every community. I wouldn't let that be a reason to not follow your passion. there's plenty of good in the editing community, too :)
I was once a person who use to judge people's edits and i deeply regret that. I respect everyone's edits that put efforts in it. It's a shame we live in a society that mostly cares for themselves and do not think for others. I started editing like 8 months ago as i started on capcut then slowly shifted to alight. This video is the best documentary of editors, about most of this video is very relatable with the flops , the toxicity and others. As a small editor i was looked down upon and i am still am do this day , i chose to ignore it to be honest. The negativity can really change people a lot. I believe the overall message is people who put a lot of effort into their edits no matter the outcome should be respected for their efforts that allows editors to keep on pushing and improving. This is just an opinion thank you for this video.
This is literally why I’m friends with mostly small editors there just so kind and genuine and have potential but I honestly love big editors as well cus they always help me to want to edit more and try new things. But tbh my edit can take weeks if not a month or two depending on if I’m using presets. I do agree ppl need to understand that editing takes time and alot of our day. I could honestly go on with how much I agree with this video. But it would be so long. Just know if you are a small editor and need a friend or support I’m here for you! And all editors especially this video is very well don’t and I can tell your definitely gonna go place with ur talented! I hope you never quit cus your video is just what us editors need. 🩷🩷🩷
2:48 personally it depends, if you've blown up and you've got thousands of comments all at once (and most of these editors might either have school, work or just a life in general) they might not have time to reply to all. overall good video
I find any editing software is good if you enjoy it or what sort of challenge you want but you can't hate on other editors with not so much experience.
Great Video! I'm from another part of the editing community and I do agree the community is hella toxic. That being said the toxicity is what made a lot of the editors better, like the person in the video I used to get pissed when people called my videos stiff but once I started listening(it took a few months ngl). I started improving like crazy and started becoming a better editor but also the better I got the longer the videos took and the more unmotivated I felt making them, once I posted them they performed worse than my simpler edits. Talking to a lot of my friends about the main reason most editors quit and half the reason the community is as toxic as it is. The other half is from editing groups and editing units trying to have better members making them more and more selective, resulting in harder feedback. Personally, I'm fine with it because it helps me improve but it does hurt my ego. Oh also one more thing I've seen mobile editors do wayyy better than ae editors. Some of these editors quit like 2 years ago and are still better than me while as other editors on cap cut, Node Video, and alight are getting so good you can't tell they are mobile editors. The views do come mostly from super simple edits with some coming ultra complex ones, with that you'll get hate from better editors but then again at that point, you're probably editing for the algorithm. Anyway, I'm done yapping I just wrote this for the new editors so they kinda get how everything works and dont get demotivated.
If a big editor posts an edit which isn't their best work, they'll get so much praise while if a smaller editor posts something that isn't their best work, they'll get so much hate
@@PhinnyVFXokay? But I can spend like two and a half days on an edit not get good views, not get a lot of likes , and get not comments. I think mine is still good enough. So why can’t I get any praise?
Most reason most CapCut editors are hated is because they put zero effort and just go straight to templates. They wonder why they fall off when they get exposed.
this video showed a lot of controversial and hidden things within the editing community you don't see at first glance. this almost felt like a documentary and you depicted it very well.
I remember someone talking bad about my edit and it’s trash and I didn’t say anything and I just didn’t want to start drama but he/she was kind of right tho, and I’m very thankful for the person who stand up for me
this situation is much better in yt i believe i also agree with you with the line: "it doesn't matter what software you're using, it depends on how you use them"
Thanks for making a video about it. one detail I wanted to add is that many editors started editing with Capcut, and that when they started to hesitate with A and they start to make fun of the edit.g program they started with, it doesn't make sense. it's really repetitive and annoying to put "omg Capcut" there once, twice, but after a lot of videos it's really annoying. I really hope that people understand that they need to stop being toxic
I didn’t use ae or am until I managed to upgrade my skills. Started as a capcut editor, now I’m a am editor but soon going to shift to ae. Through this journey, the thing I got is uplifting my skills. That’s what this whole editing community should be about. Of course using ae or am wouldn’t make a you a legendary editor but it does have better options. Which however would be obviously based on your capability of editing and learning new things.
As someone who uses CapCut to edit my stuff (and I have used templates before learning how to do it on my own) I really find it sick how communities are now for 2024. I’m a casual editor and the talented ones need to give advice to help them not push them down.
Thank you so much I’ve discovered your channel today but I’m in love with it I’m also and editor you could say beginner all your points are valid I don’t have a pc so I don’t use ae but the some people do they are known as the best editor I’m not hating on ae editors but I’m hating on people that judge us by the app we use thanks Anna you’re awesome ❤ your style , this documentary it got me to the end of the video thanks ❤
i used to edit on apps before i switched to after effects so i have a lot of appreciation for apps editors because i’ve only been on ae for 4 and half years. it’s all a learning curve and editing should be fun for everyone. but i feel like learning after effects is pretty important if you want to turn editing into some sort of career (like me)
That's totally true, I'm the wis (who's the strongest) editor, i basically compare characters. When i was below 2K people always criticize me and my takes on characters even if those takes were correct but now that i got some subs and make few views people praise me on even my bad edits and dumb takes, so my point is not even editors but viewers judge people by subs too. Tbh wis editing community is damn good even 100k sub editors interact with fans and even show support for new editors by doing collabs with them.
i like to think of myself as an editing community grandpa because i made amvs here on youtube long before the whole editing community became big and long before editing apps became advanced. and honestely all i think about phone editors is that i am impressed by their good eye sight and patience. editing in after effects is cool and all that, but people who edit with apps i have mad respect for you.
The skilled editors being put on a pedestal is really true, as a ninjago WIS editor, it really didn't matter if you're nice, which lead to hate to this person who was less in skill compared to another editor, there was a discord server which is basically the center of Ninjago WIS, the skilled editors just basically bully irrelevant people and people will meat ride them.
I edit gaming videos and the editing comm is so cooked. everyone’s toxic and like you said, if you aren’t using a certain program you’re “bad” at editing in their eyes. when in reality I feel like these people just say that bc they have an ego and believe whatever app they personally use is the “best”. Editing should be fun and supportive, not a place to hate on others. even tho everyone start somewhere a lot of people tend to forget they were beginners as well
“ice cube!” hiii! as a capcut and alight motion editor agree, i get loads of hate on my main account just because i don’t use advanced editing apps, i know that i could do big things with better softwares, but i can’t afford them yet (and i know that a lot of people are in my position). i totally agree
this is so true bruh i have used every editing app mentioned or seen in this edit. I started editing in 2019 on Video Star in search to look for an app to make an intro for one of my olddd yt accounts but then i started TikTok in 2020 and started to edit using templates on this app called VivaCut. To be honest i just spammed a bunch of effects until i learned about goalsounds with his creative 3d style. I eventually moved onto Video Star full time in 2021 to 2022 where I learned how to use all these other editing softwares but After Effects really catapulted my TH-cam channel where i supposedly remade Lauren's Her or the Sun edit but I can not lie, I had just ended up using her project file because i didn't have the time to learn AE at this point. That ended up blowing up and I had actually taken effort to learn AE aswell as Alight Motion and all these various editing apps like Blurrr, Funimate due to my limitation of devices available to reach my full potential and as you said in your video, it isnt the program, its how you use it but apps like capcut have slowly gone downhill as most of the effects that used to be free are now pro and the software itself looks like a whole social media platform and messy in general focused on easy edits which degrades the actual use of it being an editing app but thats just my opinion no one will probably read this but i just wanted to say my opinion on this issue from someone that has used basically every editing app and program widely available. - shaun_vfx on youtube/seeshaun on tiktok :(
This is so real! I've been thinking that the editing community can be really toxic for so long, specially when i began editing. Of corse there are also many really nice people in the community, but as a beginner your edits will absolutely get hated.
My first editing app was Filmora and now i use Capcut.. i did try to learn After Effects, but then I don't know what I'm gonna do with it.. I'm so lost not knowing where to start
capcut is easy to use but there are so little effects with so little customization, and most effects cost money now, ive been using capcut for like a year but only for things shorts because there is absolutely no customization and the only upside is that it requires no effort and just more knowledge.
I'm quite new on ae and i'm still learning, I hope to grow and I have found non toxic communities. I like criticism and I am friends with many big editors
As a person who's a capcut editor in training,I have been made fun of cuz of the way I edit but atleast I'm trying,it's true there are alot of toxic editors out there-
this is an amazing video omg, you covered everything so well ive seen so much people (beginners especially) get lots of toxic comments and im so glad someone actually talked about it. you're rlly talented anf you have a great personality i hope u grow angel
Omg this is so real it actually makes me so mad because I’m not popular but I could make an edit I saw somewhere and I could see a TH-camr making it he exact same edit but because they used AE or smth their’s have blown up and they gain more subs quickly and honestly it makes me rlly mad because I put in the same amount of effort as they do but they end up getting more and it does hurt but I’m still trying and not giving up (Not hate guys I’m just speaking truth)
Thank you for this video, i hope every editor gets to see this because their is so much toxicity in the editing community. A app does not define if your a good or bad editor. TREAT PEOPLE, THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED! ❤❤
When I was a baby editor on 2020 using alight motion, I got attacked by those big accounts that uses AE .. that left me traumatized like I just edit bc I love it ... I've not totally moved on from it but now I'm 18 I just came back to editing still doing transition edits not getting that much attention but I'm happy with what I'm doing.. I think we should edit for our own satisfaction, others validation is just another thing.. edit bc you're passionate about it, that's when you'll also find the right ppl to be friends with
Capcut is not the same THE GREED IS TAKING OVER- everything is pro now and u get like 2 ads every second if u wanna export the video u can't u have to watch a ad like idk why they are doing this to capcut
As a mobile editor i know that many people who use my app (node video) are actually really good and can be as good if not better than top tier ae edits and also alright motion and capcut and much more many people Think that its bad if it isn’t ae which is completly wrong
Never saw it, never heard about it, never give a fuck about it, there are always people, who are trash talking in any situation, as an AE editor myself, I see it kinda logical, cause making edits is a competitive hobby, everyone wants to show off. Stay positive and calm
The style thing is exactly why i want to be different,my editing style isnt the same as your general edits,i dont use true colour(i dont even use ae) personally i think that all of us should respect us editors,i edit videos and i personally like them,i just wish i had more publicity

@@Icecubify im not an editor i just enjoy them very much and i can say before hand that i have subscribed to editors with low views and subs but insane potential so this biased hierachy doesn't sit with me well
i’ve been editing using capcut since i think 2021.
i agree with everything here, its better to be a kind and humble editor even if you are small and a beginner to be rude. popularity can cause big, toxic egos. this video has opened my eyes a little, thank you
I met so much good people in the editing community. Not everyone is bad…
this is such a true video, honestly so underrated. i hope this community can get back to what it once was
thank you so much for this, i never got the fact that if you used ae you are automatically better i have seen so many alightmotion, capcut or videostar editors make betters edits then some ppl do on ae, at the end of the day editing is something most of us do cause we like it, its our passion and something that brings us joy where are we putting someone down who is jus following their passion, i jus wish we could all jus cherish what we love and enjoy editing as a community
Best editing documental yet, nice job ❤
thank you!
#1 I LOVE the editing on this video 😍
#2 This is so true, Why do some editors think they are famous and start blocking everyone once they get a paid editing app
#3 I personally believe that all editors can acheive their greatest edit, its just that some apps make it easier than others (eg. After effects vs Capcut, or video star vs Alight Motion)
NOW BEFORE YOU ATTACK ME IN THE REPLIES
I say that it is harder to make an edit on capcut because there are limitations with the app (no 3d, no nulls etc.)
That doesnt mean you cant do those things!
As an editor I completely agree
I want to learn how to edit but I’m getting quite discouraged by the toxicity that I’ve been seeing in the community
that's fair, but just remember there's toxicity in every community. I wouldn't let that be a reason to not follow your passion. there's plenty of good in the editing community, too :)
@@Icecubify thank you for the reply, I will make sure to be positive. I hope your channel continues to grow, you have lots of talent!
LET HER COOK OMGGG. as an editor i agree with every statement that you said. keep it up!
OMGG DAMNNN THE INTRO GAME ME CHILLS, IT MADE ME WANNA WATCH MORE UR SO GOOD OMG!!
AAH THANK YOU SHAUN!
tysm for saying this more people need to see this you explained this so well I really hope more people see this
This is literally why I’m friends with mostly small editors there just so kind and genuine and have potential but I honestly love big editors as well cus they always help me to want to edit more and try new things. 🩷🩷🩷
thank you I’ve been in the editing community for almost 2 years and I’ve seen how it has change so much in good and toxic ways
HOLY YOUR UNDERRATED AF😭😭 this video def got me thinking the editings fire🙏🙏
2:48 personally it depends, if you've blown up and you've got thousands of comments all at once (and most of these editors might either have school, work or just a life in general) they might not have time to reply to all. overall good video
Thank you so much for addressing this issue! Please remember me when you're famous!!
i have rewatched this vid like 5 times in the span of 2 weeks and it never got old.👏
I find any editing software is good if you enjoy it or what sort of challenge you want but you can't hate on other editors with not so much experience.
True asf
Because the big editors post is prob still good enough to earn praise🤷🏾♂️
@@PhinnyVFXokay? But I can spend like two and a half days on an edit not get good views, not get a lot of likes , and get not comments. I think mine is still good enough. So why can’t I get any praise?
@@datsmeetrinnn.mytiaaa..amiyahh maybe…market better or smth
this channel is sooo underrated 🐐🔥
Most reason most CapCut editors are hated is because they put zero effort and just go straight to templates. They wonder why they fall off when they get exposed.
this video showed a lot of controversial and hidden things within the editing community you don't see at first glance. this almost felt like a documentary and you depicted it very well.
ice cube 🗣️🗣️
being fr the ending is so true like why can’t people just respect everyone smh🧍♀️
🧊🧊
As an editor, I 100% agree.
your words are amazing, simple but nicely put.
you just gained a subscriber btw
I remember someone talking bad about my edit and it’s trash and I didn’t say anything and I just didn’t want to start drama but he/she was kind of right tho, and I’m very thankful for the person who stand up for me
this situation is much better in yt i believe
i also agree with you with the line: "it doesn't matter what software you're using, it depends on how you use them"
Thanks for making a video about it.
one detail I wanted to add is that many editors started editing with Capcut, and that when they started to hesitate with A and they start to make fun of the edit.g program they started with, it doesn't make sense. it's really repetitive and annoying to put "omg Capcut" there once, twice, but after a lot of videos it's really annoying.
1:35 THIS IS SO TRUE! Beginner editors need motivation, not hate.
okay but your editing on this video ate
I'm so excited. I can't wait 2 more days 🤗
this is why i stopped making edits, I make long videos now and i find it way less toxic and more enjoyable+rewarding
The editing in this video is a w I want to edit like this also w video this has so Many good points on why it is toxic
THIS GOTTA GO VIRAL GOSH
Dude! This video is so great and your so underrated! This video itself is inspiring me, and I hate toxicity. Keep going!
I miss 2022 editing community… more active, less toxic, fun…
i used to edit on apps before i switched to after effects so i have a lot of appreciation for apps editors because i’ve only been on ae for 4 and half years.
it’s all a learning curve and editing should be fun for everyone. but i feel like learning after effects is pretty important if you want to turn editing into some sort of career (like me)
That's totally true, I'm the wis (who's the strongest) editor, i basically compare characters. When i was below 2K people always criticize me and my takes on characters even if those takes were correct but now that i got some subs and make few views people praise me on even my bad edits and dumb takes, so my point is not even editors but viewers judge people by subs too. Tbh wis editing community is damn good even 100k sub editors interact with fans and even show support for new editors by doing collabs with them.
i like to think of myself as an editing community grandpa because i made amvs here on youtube long before the whole editing community became big and long before editing apps became advanced. and honestely all i think about phone editors is that i am impressed by their good eye sight and patience. editing in after effects is cool and all that, but people who edit with apps i have mad respect for you.
i actually love how professional this video seems. u did a great job tysm for making this💗
The skilled editors being put on a pedestal is really true, as a ninjago WIS editor, it really didn't matter if you're nice, which lead to hate to this person who was less in skill compared to another editor, there was a discord server which is basically the center of Ninjago WIS, the skilled editors just basically bully irrelevant people and people will meat ride them.
The amount of times I’ve seen people saying ‘they didn’t even try’ or ‘that edit is so ugly’ is insane. No one deserves this. Stop it
ICE CUBEEE!!!
Thank you for making this video 😭🙏🏻 we need more people in the editing community to seriously see this!!
I edit gaming videos and the editing comm is so cooked. everyone’s toxic and like you said, if you aren’t using a certain program you’re “bad” at editing in their eyes. when in reality I feel like these people just say that bc they have an ego and believe whatever app they personally use is the “best”. Editing should be fun and supportive, not a place to hate on others. even tho everyone start somewhere a lot of people tend to forget they were beginners as well
I’m calling it Anna you will be one of those really popular editors like lauren etc watch
omg hello mystic and I HOPE maybe but probably not
@@Icecubify oh trust me you will
@@Icecubify I’m 100% serten trust me 😍
“ice cube!” hiii!
as a capcut and alight motion editor agree, i get loads of hate on my main account just because i don’t use advanced editing apps, i know that i could do big things with better softwares, but i can’t afford them yet (and i know that a lot of people are in my position). i totally agree
STOP I SAW UR MINECRAFT EDIT ON TIKTOK OMG YOUR SO TALENTED MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED WHEN I SAW IT
this is so true bruh i have used every editing app mentioned or seen in this edit.
- shaun_vfx on youtube/seeshaun on tiktok :(
Basically every editing app or program I can successfully make an edit on:
After Effects, Video Star, Alight Motion, Funimate, Blurrr & CapCut
This is so real! I've been thinking that the editing community can be really toxic for so long, specially when i began editing. Of corse there are also many really nice people in the community, but as a beginner your edits will absolutely get hated.
i respect all tbh i use capcut but i didnt know capcut is very hated..
this is so real
My first editing app was Filmora and now i use Capcut.. i did try to learn After Effects, but then I don't know what I'm gonna do with it.. I'm so lost not knowing where to start
This is why I try to go out of my way to never be rude or toxic with others.
capcut is easy to use but there are so little effects with so little customization, and most effects cost money now, ive been using capcut for like a year but only for things shorts because there is absolutely no customization and the only upside is that it requires no effort and just more knowledge.
a massive problem is that moving and changing length of clips on the timeline is annoying
I'm quite new on ae and i'm still learning, I hope to grow and I have found non toxic communities. I like criticism and I am friends with many big editors
As a person who's a capcut editor in training,I have been made fun of cuz of the way I edit but atleast I'm trying,it's true there are alot of toxic editors out there-
omg! i feel this as a capcut editor, people need to STOP being so toxic
this is an amazing video omg, you covered everything so well ive seen so much people (beginners especially) get lots of toxic comments and im so glad someone actually talked about it. you're rlly talented anf you have a great personality i hope u grow angel
Omg this is so real it actually makes me so mad because I’m not popular but I could make an edit I saw somewhere and I could see a TH-camr making it he exact same edit but because they used AE or smth their’s have blown up and they gain more subs quickly and honestly it makes me rlly mad because I put in the same amount of effort as they do but they end up getting more and it does hurt but I’m still trying and not giving up
(Not hate guys I’m just speaking truth)
I love your content so much, keep up the amazing work. ilyy
Man even still to this day just cuz these people who are “better” than me or have more followers think they are better yk
Idk who you are but I’m sending my support. Your voice is peaceful too. You’ll go far on this platform
3:49 nah this goes both ways, a lot of ae editors hate on capcut, but also a lot of capcut editors hate on ae
U can't judge the creativity by the software!! 🗣🗣
omg i loved this vid, ur so underrateddd
