Sebastian and Pierre took the cake with flying colours imo. Clean, simple and not overcrowded with clutter and eye burning colours. They had simple colour palettes, especially Pierre with the 60-30-10 colour rule with the red, grey and blue. And also had smooth uncluttered animations that showed only essential visuals that correlated with what was being said, and nothing in excess, which is great. Also chances of an epileptic attack with them was a lower risk lol. Love it.
This proved we need to learn graphic designing before video editing "Most of the mistakes he highlighted related to graphic designing typography & Hierarchy"
Thank you!!! this is what i have oberved myself. "Make every scene as beautiful a well-designers poster" So i begin from that. Beautifying each scene first then animating.
Going from graphic designing to video editing. It felt like half of the things I needed to know where already done for me. Knowing what makes a good design is also true in video editing.
Ngl, but these edits were amazing. Although, I felt as if some edits were judged a bit more harsh than the others and there was a little bit of bias (esp at the end). I also noticed that, the edits (from the halfway to the end) had a higher chance of being placed higher than the edits (from start to the halfway).
I totally understand that! I always try to be as least harsh as possible. But giving feedback while trying to bring value, but also not being too harsh is something that I struggle with. As for the order, I decide of course the order I watch them so in that sense there's always some bias.
Style wise I really enjoy Alexandra’s work the most. It was clean and not too distracting (no retention editing) it really supported what was being said, whilst being engaging, clean and well done. She was first place for me ✨
Great video Tom, glad to see one of the contestants using an AI scene recreated in one of my tutorials😉. Anyway, a lot of great and talented editors participating, which is always nice to see. Keep crushing it people🔥
@@TomsProject im not part of the creator club, hoping to join soon, but did they pick up these skills inside the community? would love to see a breakdown of Pierre and Sebastian's style tbh
This video was awesome and inspiring, really good stuff for my creative juices!! I hope in the future you won't drop videos to lower tiers just because another video is the same tier, I believe there can be more than one A and S tier video. Dropping peoples videos a tier down feels unfair to them. Maybe to rank the order of best to worse in each tier, you could adjust which spot they are on in each given slot! Best of luck, can't wait for the next challenge!
wahhhh? Pierre is definitely S-tier. Awesome video. But honestly, i thing Pierre showed creativity and versitility 100% But we all have different opinions i guess
This is really Good stuff.👍👍 I'm not really an Editor but I love Editing from time to time and I must say that I really saw different styles 😲 I must say they all did a great Job. Something I've learnt about Editing is that sometimes Less is More Just in case I'd love to participate in something like this if it ever comes up again 😀😊
A Suggestion, When you are reacting on such competetion kindly wear a different or different color of outfit, beacuse at many point it was could not distinguish either it the edited video or ,it is from current one, 🙂 peace
Hey tom two thing. It would be nice if you could make a short/longer vid of how overlays are used at the end of a project to spice the look of the final project. I think something like that would be important and not talked bout enough. Also, would be nice if you could recreate some of the things that you showcased with these editors in this video as to how they did it.
Hi Tom. Super big fan of your work. I am an aspiring video editor. I aim to someday participate in such a contest..Where could I find the raw footage for practice?
Really glad to hear that! Yeah it’s always difficult since not everyone can win. But I try to make it as valuable as possible for everyone including people watching!
For Jansons, at 20:40-20:41, for overwhelmed representation, you could had used crowd passing by and when stuck words come, they diseaper kind of. (Just idea shared which i had) Top 3 are well deserved
A bit hard to explain in a comment but there's multiple ways to do it. In my opinion the easiest is to first make the words pop up one by one. You can use the type writer preset and adjust that from characters to words. And then just animate the positon every time a word appears.
Hey super cool video. I was wondering if you do "MOBILE editing competitions"? If you do, I'd be glad to compete. I don't have a PC so can't compete in these ones unfortunately. Thank you. I hope you’ll reply.
@@TomsProject You can bounce light off wall and use a c stand to drape a 4/4 silent cloth at 1/2 stop of diffusion and it will look very soft. $100 fix
How do I participate in the editor battle with a 500 dollar prize? I'm very confident in my editing skills. is the prize editor competition only available once a month? And how do you choose the editors who will participate in the 500 dollar battle?
Anyone in the pro community can join. It’s every month, some months only 6 people participate. So the chances of winning at least something is quite high.
