Uber/Lyft can only pay everyone involved in the process of a ride from what the individual rider has paid.
If a rider is charged $100 for an airport ride and the driver receives $52 (52%) of that rider payment, then the remaining $48 (48%) of that rider payment is split between the insurance for the ride, the local taxes and fees, the airport flat fee, and Uber or Lyft. That is how the breakdown goes for an airport ride every time. Drivers can view this breakdown on the Uber driver website anytime after a ride is completed.
All rider payments not involving the city or the city/airport are split between the driver, the insurance for that ride, and Uber or Lyft; for a three-way split.
The drivers which are always interviewed in these videos are drivers which CHOOSE to accept city/airport rides and city rides. Therefore, the payments of their riders are split either four or five ways per completed ride. The rider payments are NEVER split only between Uber/Lyft and the driver; because the insurance for each ride has to be paid via the rider payment.
In the above example, (which just so happened to be an actual ride reported by a driver) the driver is receiving 52% of the $100. However, Uber is NOT receiving the remaining 48% of that $100.
Drivers want people to think that this is so.
In reality, the 48% of that $100 charge is split four ways for that airport ride. The insurance and the city and the airport always get their pay immediately from the rider payment; just as the driver and Uber or Lyft.

They don't pay UBER DRIVERS enough to do this job. Not even minimum wage. They have been getting away with this for too long. Unfair labor practices ! Long hours, wear and tear on your car, low or no tips that are taxed and low wages paid for fares that use up all your gas. Not worth it ! They don't even make minimum wage and have to pay for all the gas and insurance and car washes and wear and tear on their cars. And deal with crazy, cheap, complaining drunks all night. People scam their drivers out of paying them with phoney complaints and get them deactivated for false complaints so they get a free ride !

There are lots of desperate drivers that works for peanuts, that’s the problem, there’s no union among them, if drivers would turn off all the Uber apps , I’m sure things can change, but lots of desperate drivers go to work, and for this reason strikes don’t win , that’s my conclusion.

They should not be getting 50 percent when they are not the ones doing the work. 25 is reasonable especially because they find us the rides but they should not be getting 50. The apps will notice the yellow cabs coming back more and more in NYC. once they notice their fuck up, they'll change it. Might be too late cause many would leave the platform. Being too greedy will be your downfall. However, since there's a downward slope, they're just cashing in what's left before uber/lyft crash & the yellow cabs come back into major city areas. Apps will still b around for smaller suburban areas to benefit from tho.
