This doesn't make any sense. The whole appeal of gig work is that you can work when you want whenever you want. Demanding to be treated like a salaried employee goes against this. How convenient it is for this to happen when there is a bill they're trying to pass next month regarding gig work. This seems all too fabricated to strip down the freedom of gig work so the government can get its fair share.

The biggest complaint is that they are taking 70% of our fares they overcharge the passangers and pay pennies to drivers. We went from making $300 and $400 a day to making now $100 and $150 a day without expenses. The new CEOs aggressively cut our promotions and pay more then 5 times in less then 5 years and continues to do things to harm drivers every year and their incomes every by giving now our passangers to yellow taxis and to self driving cars. Now they are scamming us charging us 20k a year on commercial insurance fees when this policies only cost between 3k to 6k a year. They don't provide us with a car and not benefits and want to make more money then us drivers who are putting out cars and covering all the expenses of this company including their taxes every year which is very abusive they should be taking 10% to 20% of our fares and have raise their percentage year by year to now 70% taking away all the money from drivers and passangers.

For riders who are not aware, although Lyft and Uber fares are still high. They are taking up to 55-60 percent of fares. For instance, you might pay a surge fare of $90.00, but the driver will get around $30, and $60 goes to Uber and Lyft. They also trick desperate drivers by renting them cars, basically forcing them to slave rates to make the weekly payment on their car rental.

Lyft won't give me my 2023 tax summary unless I agree to their terms to not sue or receive money from a class action lawsuit. Also, they are taking 70% of the fares because of their" external fees". These fees require us to pay for their business expenses and promotions. We have our own external fees to do this job which is why we need to make $25.00 an hour like we used too. Now we are making negative amounts of money because of our expenses and them taking 70%. It's not like we can bill them our external fees for our business, but they can charge us for theirs...we are not self employed obviously

the fare should be 2 dollars a mile from the restaurant, this would make tipping optional, the way it is now it is required. Will they lose business from non tippers? sure but this would make it overall more solid for the customers and drivers alike. Every order would be doable, every customer would get their food as fast as everyone else. Ordering something 15 miles away and trying to pay the driver 3 dollars should not even be possible.

7 years ago i could drive 8 hours make about 250 avg. Spend about 40 in gas and drive about 180 miles total. Yesterday I drove 10.5 hours made $350 put almost 400 miles on my vehicle and used up a full tank of gas. Today it's going to cost me $80 to refuel. My car needs an oil change $120 full synthetic will probably work because can't afford these expenses on the 46% current take home rate after company takes 24% right off the top then another 30% off of the remaining $76 of the fare. Thats not even close to drivers earning 70%. In the LA market airport rides from lax seem to be the only fares that are being paid out at a normal 70% to drivers pay scale. All other rides are coming in around 30% to drivers. For example a ride from lax going 35 miles might pay $45 but a ride from the same drop off area back to lax is pricing in at $20 to $25. But lyft is still charging 3x more on those rides to passengers. Easy way to fix this is a fixed driver pay rate 1.50 per mile and .25 cents a minute. Based on whatever information the passenger puts in for pick up and drop off locations. You won't need surge pricing and on the lyft passenger side they then can charge them whatever rate tbey want. If a ride is 10 miles and with LA traffic could take up to an hour. Estimate $15 for time and $15 for miles. Total for driver $30 and lyft or uber can charge passengers 100 drivers won't care. But that same trip under the current rate of pay is about $13 and passengers are being charged about $40 that same ride with no traffic would take 20 minutes and a driver would make about $20 and lyft again could charge whatever rate they want to appease their bottom line and drivers would pick up the passengers in shorter waiting times because all rides would be profitable for drivers and they wouldn't pass up on the current underpaid rides that are currently being offered under the rideshare algorithms.

Uber - $650 million profit, $1.7 billion to stockholders. Not a company really, an investment tool by a group of investment firms, using a 3rd party customer service diversion to issues.
Will not be transparent on tips, especially pre-tips. Tips customer thinks is going to driver may not be reaching driver.

They are charging $90 to riders and giving the driver $28 of it. That's ridiculous! Drivers can't pay rent and fix their car at the same time, in many cities. It forces drivers to rent a car, which eats into the driver profit margins even further. STAND UP! We the 300!

That's double-billing for insurance that's already covering the driver...at a high rate with higher deductibles! Rip off. The rate per hour being quoted is wrong, it’s not $30. Uber and Lyft is calculating time from pickup to drop off. Yesterday I made $111 over 12 trips, 200 miles. Uber says I drove 4 hr 29 m or $24 an hour but I worked 8 hours or $13 an hour. IN addition cost per mile is .65, actual fare per mile only covered .55. A fair an honest rate should be 1.25 a mile, which would have paid me $250 or $31 for 8 hours. I am striking in Greenville, Spartenbarg and Anderson market.

for anyone that thinks rideshare drivers are employed these companies.
Rideshare drivers are contracted by logistical technology companies.
being a contractor means filling out a 1099 tax form.
What is the 1099 form for?
A 1099 form shows non-employment income, such as income earned by freelancers
    and independent contractors.
On the other hand, a W-2 shows the annual wages or employment income that a taxpayer earned from
a particular employer during the tax year.
keep in mind, drivers expenses are...
    Fuel
    Tires
    Engine maintenance
    Rideshare insurance coverage (Extra Cost)
    Car Wash Exterior/Interior
Risk during each contract offered by rideshare companies
    Violent rider
    Vomiting
    Exterior/Interior repairs
    insurance fraud
    Defamation
Drivers aren't doing this because they feel like it, otherwise these rideshare companies will continue to abuse them all!

Here, let me help. As a passenger, you pay Uber $10 for a ride. The driver of that ride gets about $3-$4. and some change if they are lucky. The REST goes to Uber for "fees" that Uber continues to manufacture out of thin air. Things like "app maintenance" are paid by the driver in the reduced compensation. No one asked for a "living wage" just that the bulk of the money goes to the driver actually doing the work instead of the executive sitting in an office. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @therzais1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@joelhernandez8679the meter are there for a reason they measure time and distance Uber and Lyft actually did make the meter disappear out of thin air now they have upfront fairs which measure only how profitable the trip is for the company while the drivers are left with just enough to pay for gas passengers can feel like they are being ripped off but it cost a lot of money to keep a car running plus the driver has to make a living

Fr what about the liabilty your forced to incur as a driver, not like a cab driver thats not using their own car, and the rentals are $400- -595 a week with insurance, how are you supposed to make money if you have to constantly replace tires from potgokes, or if a rider breaks your car, by accident or on purpose, its on you, uber does not help or compensate lost eages due to have to have your vehicle in the shop, and further more, if your under investigation and your account is blocked for a week but restored because they find you did nothing wrong, thats just a week of lost wages, it is hard af to make anything worth while, tbh i just do it to rent a car until i can get another one
Would be cool too if they helped ppl creat an llc so they can buy a car om a buisness loan, but again all on the driver and what they can afford

What will happen the day after the protest? They will continue to use the same apps they’re griping about. Meanwhile, the newbie driver will capitalize from the increased demands, and look at it as the “best thing since sliced bread”. That’s the reality of gig work.
It’s okay to formulate the same group that’s protesting and create your own ride sharing app. Is that not an option?

    • @chris.coffin

That is only an option if you have billions to invest and I think the point is to bring attention to it he issues and give these companies bad publicity which they deserve their stocks are at an all time high meanwhile the drivers are making less if you did ride share you will understand how low the pay is

How much are we supposed to get paid each market is different you should go to your local legislator and you can’t work for $.61 a mile you should’ve been boycotting from day one if you were getting paid $.61 a mile you should’ve never signed up for the platform we get $1.38 a mile too many drivers they’ll be plenty of drivers to pick people up people work for peanuts

It's absolutely pointless for anyone to do this because it's a very, very small number of people doing this while most drivers are still gonna continue to work for literally NOTHING and they love that crap so yeah, good luck with that because as long as they keep working then it's not gonna affect Uber or door dash and like oh dude said, all they gotta do is deactivate you for no reason just because they want to and then you don't have that app and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it and good luck getting back on. I stopped doing all these apps awhile back after running them for years and people, you aren't making money yet you're just working for free and tearing up your car which most people deliver with the 1 and only car they've. Smh, it's all set up to make them greedy bastards all the money and nothing for the hard working folks that make it even possible to begin with so STOP working for these stupid apps and go start your own business, TH-cam channel or go try to find a way better paying job, OH WAIT!!! My bad I forgot for a second that we live in corrupt ass America where greedy corporations only care about money and profit and where there are LITERALLY so many new homeless people and families forced to live on the streets and nobody cares until eventually it will all collapse and them VERY own people that did this become homeless themselves and it's COMING SOON!! You don't wanna be anyone left when shit hits the fan that does have money because at that point, you're the target for EVERYONE and people just won't care anymore therefore your little money and bank accounts will mean literally NOTHING!!!! If people can earn it and earn an honest living then they'll straight up TAKE IT BY FORCE and people will do anything to survive, think I'm joking and especially when they've kids and families to feed, they're all homeless and can't make any money while freezing outside or burning up,UHHHH HELL NAH AND JUST WATCH!!!!

A strike isn’t pointless. It is never pointless. Just because you didn’t get every single driver on planet earth to strike. Doesn’t make it pointless. You saw the newcast right ? You saw cnn , nbc news , Reuters , news nation , Disney blogs , multiple other media pick up the story and report it. ,……. Yet you said it was pointless ,? The point was given.
