Hello, I am British, and we are experts at making really crispy roast potatoes. Normally, oil epuld be used, but here is a wy yi maje really crispy roast spids without any oil. First you MUST peal them. A nice medium potato cut in half and then boiled for 5 minutes. Then, immediately shake the heck out of the pan to rough up the spuds. Then put into an airfryer and cook, shaking at intervals at 200c / 409f until the potatoes are golden brown and very crispy. You can also oven cook and do the same shaking them up as you go. ❤
This is great thank you!! I think next time I will use big potatoes and peel them… and I definitely could’ve roughed up the edges even more. These are all great tips! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
What great ideas!! I love they are all quite quick and easy but not the usual sides that everyone always serves! I will definitely be making these this Christmas season ☺️😁
he crispy potatoes, roasted veggies, and butternut squash soup really add something special without taking up too much time. The date bites are a fun and tasty treat too.
All of these look great. Thanks for showing how prep the butternut squash. It can be hard to cut. Definitely making the soup and date dessert. I think the soup would be food topped with a few pumpkin seeds or roasted chickpeas.
You're welcome! Yea that was such a great tip, I'm glad someone in the community shared it. The soup would be excellent with some pumpkin seeds!! You could even roast the butternut squash seeds and use those. 😋😋
Another awesome video Maddie and the roast vegetables would make a good main meal served with roast potatoes and cranberry sauce as the side dishes. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞 Maddie & family (including her TH-cam family).
Definitely! I'm not sure the timing though. I would probably use the sauté function first for the aromatics (onion, garlic, ginger & herbs) and then add the squash & broth. I'm guessing 5 mins. high pressure for timing? It took about 30 minutes on the stovetop if that helps. 😊 I'd add the cashew cream when it's done and then blend!
My oldest kid brought roasted root veggies last year for Christmas. Potatoes, turnips, parsnips, beets, carrots, etc. Some onions and celery in there too. I don't remember any spices (doesn't need any) but some oregano or generic "Italian Herb Mix" doesn't hurt.
LOVE roasted veg - never thought to add the onions late! I've always wanted to try Virtual Vegans crispy potatoes! Looks like the butternut squash microwave trick worked for peeling?? Never tried that either, but I will now! Can you do recipes with fresh/frozen cranberries?? I have two bags haha
Right!? I had never done that either. Worked great! Yesss, the crispy potatoes had been on my list for so long. 😂 I think next time I'll use proper potatoes and peel them, and then more seasoning! Mine were slightly under seasoned so I think they needed more salt (or garlic powder? Nutritional yeast?! Something!). The microwave first for squash is a game changer too. 😃🙌 I looove cranberries! I am hoping our local store has the organic ones again this year. Usually I just do cranberry sauce and then use that in everything! (Oatmeal, drinks, in grain bowls, etc.) They're also good whole in baked oats! th-cam.com/video/DAgTkZZckwk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/users/shortsw3mNGOSqjr4
@@LetsEatPlantshonestly I felt the music was absolutely perfect. I barely noticed it. It was low in the background when you weren’t talking. Also you speak so clearly and lovely. Your editor is doing a fabulous job. Thank you.
@@karenmiller1105 Aww thank you Karen! Sometimes it may just need a tweak to make the volume the same across the video, but glad you didn't think it was a problem. 😊
OMG those date bites look amazing! At first glance, I thought they were caramel turtles. I suppose one could make a date caramel sauce to use for turtles, right? I might have to try that. Good tip regarding par boiling the potatoes, before baking them. Thanks, Maddie! I'm definitely going to check out your other Thanksgiving video, as well. What dishes are you most looking forward to, on Thanksgiving?
Yes they are so similar to turtles!! You could do pecans in these or make a date caramel sauce instead. 😋 Definitely excited to make some mashed potatoes and stuffing tomorrow. Really all the classics. 😄
@@LetsEatPlants I might have to try both methods and see which I like best 😋 I bet! Does your family gather around with you? I know that things are different in Canada, but that's nice that you're celebrating it for yourself. Enjoy! 😀
@ Thank you! Right now it’s just Q and baby girl and me, but I’ve been waiting for the right time to start traveling back to California to spend Thanksgiving with my family there. I think it would be nice to have that as an annual tradition. 🤗🤗 Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!!
Full disclosure... I didn't *love* the acorn squash with skin on. I ended up peeling it off as I was eating them. Q on the other hand... didn't even notice and said the veggies were great. 😂😂 Do with that info what you will. 😛

Aww yay! That sounds so lovely! 😃
@LetsEatPlants 😋
Yum those dishes look soo good. I might try those potatoes with polenta!! Such a good idea! Thx for the great content as always
Yay!! Definitely see my notes in the description box for them, as I thought they were just a bit under seasoned... but that's an easy fix!

Totally agree!! 🙌🙌
Maple syrup! Nice! I have a roasted sweet potato recipe with maple syrup and tarragon. A little basil doesn't hurt.
These were so good with the maple syrup! Can't believe I've never thought of using it instead of oil before. 😅
Thanks Maddie for such good recipes. I made the roasted vegetables and the salad and omg it was delicious. My family enjoyed the salad.
