Pleasantly surprised you reacted on these doowop songs. I love doowop music for decades. It was a huge hit in the US in 1956 and one of the standard classic doowop songs. Check out the Solitaires, the Cadillacs and the Moonglows ('sincerely'), the finest harmonies of the fifties.

In the rock era, which began in 1955, these guys had just 2 top 40 hit singles. This song hit #24 in Sept. 1956. Their 2nd & final hit was called To The Aisle & it landed at #25 in August 1957. They continued to release new singles into 1962, but never again got any higher than #69 & that was a song called Miss Fine, but it was released by the other name they recorded under.... The New Yorkers.

1956! The music of my parents generation. Those dance moves reminded me of Motown too. I'm not aware of any other hits from The Satins, but you're on the right path with The Penguins "Earth Angel". Here is an incomplete list of classic songs with similar a vibe from back then which you may or may not have already heard: The Flamingos "I Only Have Eyes For You", Gene Chandler "Duke Of Earl", Dion & The Belmonts "I Wonder Why", Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", The Marcels "Blue Moon", The Platters "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", The Skyliners "Since I Dont Have You", Johnny Mathis "Chances Are", The Monotones "The Book Of Love", The Cleftones "Heart And Soul", The Chantels "Maybe", The Crests "Sixteen Candles", The Dells "Oh What A Night", Little Anthony "Tears On My Pillow", The Cadillacs "Speedo", Johnny Ace "Pledging My Love", Donnie Elbert "What Can I Do", Paul Anka "Put Your Head On My Shoulder", The Chords "Sh-Boom", Richie Valens "Donna", Clyde McPhatter & The Drifters "Money Honey" ...

An oldies radio station in NY used to annually play their Top 500 songs of all time. Year after year, "In The Still Of The Night" was #1. I still have the 1972 and 1977 lists. "To The Aisle" was their other US R&B chart top 10 hit.

Harri, the singers of the mid 50's to 1964 were the ones I grew up listening to and dancing to at "the lake". Once the English "invasion" came in, this type of music/singers kinda fell by the wayside. Don't get me wrong, I was a big Beatles fan and actually saw the Rolling Stones when the first came to the States. But the music of the 50s and early 60's is still the music I listen to the most. Those Oldies but Goldies are the best by far.

Boyz II Men did a rendition of this song too. And in fact they somehow keep that doo-wop going too. I mean, listen to the intro of “Motownphilly” and tell me that’s not at least influenced by doo-wop.

There are so many old doo wop and R&B ballads to react to, you’ll be busy for months. As for the syncro moves, Jerry Butler “The Iceman” claims the Cadillacs were the first to start this trend. Check these guys out- Ben E. King & the Drifters, Sam Cooke, Temptations, Isley Brothers, Impressions, Miracles, Four Tops, Supremes, Chantels, Jimmy Ruffin, Fats Domino, Marcels, Orioles, Frankie Lymon, Otis Redding, Gladys Knight, Mary Wells, Marvin Gaye, Jr. Walker, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, the Cleftones, the Volumes, Shep and the Limelites, the Chords, the Heartbeats, Percy Sledge, Clyde McPhatter, Righteous Brothers, the Jive Five, Maurice Williams, the Duprees, the Crests, the Rivieras, Stevie Wonder…I’ll think of more later.

Dion sang my favorite Doo-wop tunes. I'm 5th in family of 6 kids. My three older sisters listened to this music, so I a fan of "Happy Days" music. One sister was a big R&B fan. My earliest year were engulfed with old time Country Western music. Of course, we all watched the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I was only 7 but I understood their draw. Thanks for post Harri! Loving the direction you're in right now. Lot more music than Guitar Rock.

River of Dreams is the song by Billy Joel. You might want to look into some of the oldies shows put together by TJ Lubinsky for PBS. He was a beast at getting the original artists from the 50's and 60's back together to perform!! One of the biggest ones was called Doo Wop 50.

The next time you circle back to Linda Ronstadt, I would listen to and watch this video of Linda recording Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a Clown" live in a studio. And wait for Linda's utter cuteness as she locks eyes with the camera when the song is done. She sure melts my heart.
