    2 things...
    1. Seeing this raw footage makes me appreciate all the work that goes into editing a final product.
    2. This view is so great for learning. From listening to all atc communications, watching power management and the ability to maintain your orientation to the airport through continuous video.
    Thanks so much for sharing!

      Thanks, Matt. Do you have a device that shows 8K? Biggest monitor I have is better than 4K, but not 8K. And the file sizes and encoding times for this project where insane.
      Take care!

    I did enjoy this. I love full length uncut stuff. Very informative. I also love your lead-in and on-the-ground stuff, so I cheated a bit and watched the start and end of the other video, then came back here to watch the flight. :-)

    Well done Martin,
    Excellent job of synching 8 cameras to perfection. Seems you got bounced around a lot on this trip.
    Very interesting format, not your usual voice over and very well done.
    Looking forward to riding along with the new engine and prop.
    Thanks for sharing.

      I'm excited about the new engine and prop, for sure.
      Yes, quite bumpy that day - I probably could have found smoother air by climbing more, but it just wasn't worth it on this very short flight.

    Love your videos and have followed for quite some time, but this 8 tile video was too busy for me for an entire flight. Did like the full real time aspect. Good luck with the new power! Exciting time!

    Wow, Martin! I love the full-flight video. I love the feeling it gives of being up in the air - even when I can't be. I'll watch as many of these as you produce. Period. That said, I also find quite a lot of value from your shorter vids with the voiceovers. You have an awful lot to share and if you're requesting votes (shorter w/vo vs. longer w/o vo) put my vote in the BOTH column, please. Thanks much and am looking forward to that return trip with the bigger engine. Congrats on that , btw.

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback, Jeff - 'both' is probably not something I'll be able to do on a routine basis, but maybe for a few special flights every now and then.

    Martin, Hollywood is on the line and they want to borrow your equipment to shoot a major motion picture. Oh, and by the way, they also want you to narrate and edit it. Fantastic video! Stay safe and good luck with the engine swap out. Taka care!

      You'll see the same general picture, Scotty - but imagine for each pixel on your screen, there are 16 pixels in the original video. With the right kind of device, you can actually see all the gauges and read the iPad screen.

    great camera work.
    Do you ever use the in-climb "multiple leans to a post-takeoff EGT" technique to reduce fuel flow and increase climb rate? From what i see on your engine monitor you have a lot of CHT headroom...
    Thanks for sharing the video.

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do use the EGT target method in the climb, and think I did so on that flight as well. It's my standard procedure in the climb.
      And having lots of CHT headroom is a good thing in my book. 😁

    I agree with everyone above.. love the full flight nature of this, and the camera work. Is it actually easier to produce? Less editing? Flight question for you - You requested a block altitude along the way instead of a guess for your final ALT: What are the pros/cons of asking for a block?

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Bart. In a way, it is less work - less editing, that is - because there are no cuts. But the humungous amounts of data and files sizes make this hard to manage, even on a relatively fast computer. The final video compression took almost three days - not something I'll do on a regular basis, at least not in 8K.

    Loved the full video compared to the short one! Why is your yoke squeaking when moving up and down? I'd be worried about that!!!

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The yoke was a loaner which I had in the Bonanza for my commercial training and checkride. It's actually being removed as we speak, i.e. my single (throw-over) yoke is going back in. Should be less "squeaky".

    Martin, greetings from Colombia. How do you manage to use the cameras for long flights? How do you make the batteries last so long?

    • @martinpauly
      @martinpauly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carlos. I don't. I have a USB cable connected to a battery or power supply so the cameras keep running. GoPros are nice overall, but battery life is not good with them.
