I really liked the controller at Melbourne. He spoke very clearly and absolutely on point. I had a good mental picture what was going on just sitting here listening to him. Great flight Martin! Florida is always busy but fun. As always thanks for bringing us along with you.
Hi there Martin! Just moved to KCOI Merritt Island, joined the flight club here & EAA 724 - helped out at the Women In Aviation at KMEL 2 weeks ago, lot of smart people here, life is good, thanks for your distance mentorship over the years that has helped me a lot!!!!!!!!! Think I’ll finally pursue my commercial ticket now that things are falling into place. Cheers 🥂 Christine 🙋♀️
Great video, Martin! Love your custom check list! Every pilot should have one when possible. Your adherence to safety is commendable, safety compliments the joy of flying.
Really enjoying your videos, Martin. I'm coming to the USA soon to fly around the country and it's been invaluable watching you fly in U.S. airspace in such a professional way. Very helpful to build a picture of what to expect in terms of airspace, RTF, instrument procedures, etc. Thank you!
I'm glad I can help, and I hope you'll have a great time with many memorable flights here in the US! If your trip is such that it can include an overnight stay in Mason City, IA (KMCW) on the third Thursday of any month, you should plan to stop there for the monthly airport BBQ. Thank me later! - Martin
Really enjoyed the video, what I liked the most is you displayed what you were doing. Being a visual learner it was very helpful even though I still don't understand what's happening 😂.
Martin in my Lazy boy recovering from surgery. I really enjoyed this video, a lot more than usual. See you at the Beach Craft Bash in the Blue Grass👍❤️
Martin, met you a couple of years ago at AirVenture. Great, professional flight. I’m in Cape Coral right now. My friend from Naples and I flew from Naples to Marathon last week. He’s got a very nice Dakota. He wanted to fly up to Page this week to take me up again, but I’m with grandkids having a ball. Have a nice trip home.
Hallo Martin ,wieder ein schönes Video . Hier in Deutschland hat es fast drei Monate geregnet und wir konnten nicht viel fliegen aber es wird besser .Liebe Grüße Frank
I love that all these years your videos get even better, but you are still the same cool guy in them. Great channel mate. I was wondering do you use Foreflight?
Thanks for the great flight, Martin! Nice to see you in Florida! Cedar Rapids is way too cold this time of year! Flew to Buckeye this last weekend for the AOPA Fly In. Lots of fun! And, got the wife to go with me, too! She hadn't been in the airplane for a couple of years... We had a great time. Hope to see you this summer at Oshkosh. Rick in Tucson.
Hi Martin. Great video. On your departure brief I would suggest adding lower nose to maintain best glide speed. IMO If you have a total engine failure your airspeed is going to decrease rapidly if you don’t lower your nose. Just a reminder to self to watch your airspeed because there is going to be a startle factor if that would happen. Blue Skies!
Agreed - lowering the nose is important. I would add that this is a gerat argument against Vx/Vy climbs - keep the pitch attitude shallow if runway length, terrain and obstacles allow, and build some airspeed. That why you'll see me accelerate to 120 KIAS so soon right after take-off. - Martin
Fun flight. I rent from Paragon at Page in the winter and fly out of Flying Cloud in the summer. Flying in FL is a little different than the Midwest. If you get time fly to Key West - the views are amazing!

Your last two flights, FlySto has shown you landing 8' left of center. Is your rudder broken? 😂 I really enjoy riding with you, always a pleasure to follow along and learn!
Hi Martin, I subscribed just today, I like your professional flying, something for me to aim for! I have just purchased a 1978 A36, I was wondering what year yours is, the old panel layout seemed almost identical to mine. Very interesting video’s particularly interested in anything A36 currently of course, mine has a 520 almost running out of hours not sure about 550 upgrade though, looking forward to watching the video on your upgrade. My century 3 autopilot is in-operative as well so there’s another problem. Thanks for all your content enjoyed the one with Doug regarding engine failures after take off, great information!
My A36 is a 1978 model, too - so the similarity is no coincidence. The IO-550 is a great engine for this airframe, eliminating most concerns about take-off and climb performance, flying in the summer, and flying in the mountains. I've never met an A36 owner who did the upgrade and then later wished they hadn't. Regards, Martin
Hi. Martin, as always enjoying your videos. You by far have the best on screen graphics. Have you been to the Edison Ford museum at Fort Myers? Safe travels
Hi Mike - yes, I've been to the Edison and Fort museum in Fort Myers, but it was a while ago - maybe five years or so. What a beautiful estate! - Martin
Hi Martin. It's always good to get some time in the air with you. It helps me do some armchair flying to keep my brain in shape for flying my A36 out of KDYL. I noticed those nasty red "expired" tags on the taxi diagram on your iPad. Was there a download update missing on your EFB?
Thanks, Frank. I must have been missing some of the latest Jeppesen charts update. I have since purged all downloads and gotten a fresh data dump of everything, and it seems to be OK now. - Martin
Great video, Martin! I bought one of the Inogen Oxygen generators. I believe you said in your video you could charge it in the plane. I thought your Bonanza was 28 volt. In the instruction book it says 12-15 volt. Did you get an adapter or does 28 volt work? Thanks
Quick question: When on a visual approach, how do you know what altitude to set for your missed approach? You put 2000 in the FD in case of missed in this video. Thanks!
There is no published missed approach for a visual approach; thus there isn't a published missed approach altitude. If a real missed approach was necessary, Tower would issue instructions for heading and altitude. The published missed approach altitude is a good default value to have, though, in case of a lost-comm situation - it's a safe altitude to climb to if all else fails. - Martin
