    Isn't there a can of spray that loosens the gunk?Have seen such a can on youtube.

    That was very informative , this is like a pcv valve on a old Holden red motor but more advanced for diesels ?

    Not too hard to pull the intake manifold off a Triton. But the crap that is in it is another matter. It requires soaking overnight in some pretty harsh chemicals and then attacking it with a 3000psi pressure washer, then you may have to do the job all over again, honestly it can be that bad..
    So you don't recommend paying $200 bucks for a spray can of snake oil to clean it?? But the sales guy said it was the latest wonderful " liquid ceramic polymer" with added "magnetic turbo scrub power lather technology" that would get into to every void in the manifold, remove all soot buildup and get it spotlessly clean. You only need to buy eight cans of it as well.
    But he did say that in some rare cases, extra cans may need to be purchased, especially if your engine has more than a Three cylinders.

    So many dramas the customer has to put up with; eventual DPF failure, regeneration cycles not performing as should, choking up the inlet manifold.
    Petrol and Diesel direct injection I thought was wonderful; more power and torque, less fuel consumption and emissions. I've now come to realise that carbon will form on the top of the inlet valves and there is virtually nothing you can do. Putting fuel additives in will do nothing as the fuel is not going past the intake valves. So much for saving money especially on a diesel.
    Still, if it wasn't for small businesses as above the consumer would absolutely up shit creek. I think these engine designers should be made to produce an engine that is reliable for 300,000 without undoing an extra bolt apart from the normal service routine which does not include cleaning DPFs, intakes, EGRs etc. If an filter is required in the PCV system, then design it with reusable filter screens etc easily accessible and tested under all load conditions to be very effective at taking out oil vapor before it is released back into the engine.
    If the engine cannot do 300,000 without a minor overhaul of components then it is not "fit for purpose" and that engine should be banned from this country.
    I know, I know, I can all hear you saying that it is not the engine designers fault, and I do agree to a point. The emission regulations make these bolt on fixes necessary. Yes, but they are not good enough obviously.
    The customer has no way of knowing a reliable engine from another. I'm starting to wonder if I should be going back to the mechanical fuel injection days, using a bit of Decarboniser with every tankful to keep the valves clean via port injection.

    Thanks for the videos on this it's really helped in understanding why my ute is not having so many problems. Does the spray stuff work as thats all the Mitsubishi dealership offered up here in Brissy. Also can I ask how much would be a reasonable cost to do a full clean on a Triton 3.2 MN?

      Mitsubishi Capalaba offer a egr & inlet manifold clean for $396 best to get it done with a service.

    I like the video's that are presented here, i am planning to do maintenance to my Triton which feels like it has ALOT of performance that only lasts 1-2 weeks and then the car runs sluggish for a little while then it suddenly kicks in again, and gains 200-600 revs instantaneously.
    I am planing a Manifold clean, Exhaust upgrade and downgrade installing 1-2 resonators on a 2.5 inch pipe, Turbo check and clean as well as planning to install a inter-cooler.
    Some days the car runs at the specified temperature, and other days it runs half way. If it climbs higher then that, i stop the car as soon as i can, see if i can idle it cool, and if not shut it down.
    I am on my P's and the car's has potential according to the way it drives everywhere. I am gearing up every 2-3 seconds give or take.
    And the power on the car has made me accidentally do burnouts, so i let the car idle rather then give it throttle while i am taking off in forwards or reverse.

    How bad would a MY20 2.4L MR Triton with 18,000ks be? I didn't install my provent oil separator till then. Is it worth cleaning out the intercooler and intake, or should be good for now?

    Hi my 2015 has just lost power its no longer able to acellerate or even hold speed in top gear going up a hill that i drive up every day it used to be able to tow a boat up and hold speed now it is slowing down unloaded. has done 20,500km air filters still clean

    it doesn't going to fast
    i check it in the electronic and they said that there is no problem with the motor and the check engine light doesn't light
    put i now that the normal engines acceleration after 2rpm it goes to fast
    put mine doesn't go like that so what should i do

      It’s not enough but if the engines clean already then that’s fine but once ur car starts choking for air it’s all over

    Mitshubishi montero 2.5 turbo diesel,I encounter check engine light, I try scan using obd2, it's come with P0089 error, I already change suction control valve but still has check engine light, when I start the engine with 1000 rpm, it's goes normal, but in idle with 650 rpm, check engine will appear and limp mode of my engine, please help me diagnose this problem, thanks

    Hi, I have a (for me atleast) tricky problem with my L200 -02. Im from Sweden so I can´t bring it to your shop sadly.... The symptoms are that it sometimes, when I have driven shorter and slower runs starts to run bad below 2200rpm, it sounds like the turbo spools up and down and it smells diesel.... So almost no power and rough running... Over 2200rpm it runs fine... Then if I turn of the engine and start again it runs fine for a while... Feels like it is some selenoid or something

      Sounds like dirty fuel and need new filters. A pre filter to keep water out of fuel, you can drain the water out if the bowl shows water. Do you have an oil catch can? A must for these cars.

      u drvie slowly everyday tht why so many carbon black smoke I recommended u to drive fast sometimes to rwmove black smoke

    Mate You are educating people just how to spend about 2000$ in Your shop....sorry but for general diesel owners ( non business vehicles ) blanking plates chips and diy have to do!!!!! Government should step in to stop this ripoff on every car designed to die.... But they love they GST hahaha we are not blind.

      +joelyboyblue Yeah pretty much. Their all warm and fuzzy because of a wanky system that owners have to fix. The irony is I bet greenies who own a turbo diesel would get the EGR blocked off as well.
