    Subaru at least needs to offer the naturally aspirated 2.5. 30 more horse power with virtually the sand mpg. Don’t need a turbo, but the 2.5 that they put in the crosstrek would be sufficient.

    • @thor_4017

      2.5 engine is outdated. They could use the 2.4 from the brz. Maybe with a different tune.

    • @Shishizurui

      in 2013 the lack of the 2.5 is what made me go and buy an 08 impreza.

    • @mossmiller
      @mossmiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shishizurui I purchased the '13 and it was dog slow when new. But they do open up as you rack up the miles. With new exhaust, valve spring recall done, and new plugs, the car feels much faster. The newer ones are similar, but quieter on the highway.

    • @Feralsaurus
      @Feralsaurus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pre 2012 models offered the old EJ 2.5 Naturally Aspirated - rated for 176 HP and 176 Torque. I have a 2009 hatch and it pulls amazingly for what it is, definitely quicker than any Impreza 2012+ due to their engine (or lack of). The ZEV is great on gas though, and let's be honest this is not a performance car, the better the gas mileage the better!

    The cost of this car has gone up so much, it’s almost crazy. A new base Impreza STARTS at $25k, without any sort of dealer add ons. This car can easily go up to $30k+ now, especially if you opt for the RS.

      Subaru is like Apple. They suck you into the brand and make minimal changes each year. Not that it’s a bad thing, that’s what keeps the cars quality control extremely consistent. So when you go to buy your next Subaru, you’re already going to know what to expect.

    • @anthonys5581
      @anthonys5581 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I owned a 6 speed Crosstrek for 3 years and the engine was never a problem for me. The issue I had was with the transmission. The ratios for 1st and 2nd were annoying. Subaru designed the 2nd gear so you could hit 60mph without shifting into 3rd and that negatively impacted the usability of that gear at lower speeds. First gear was purposefully shortened to allow for better off-road use. The result was a transition between those two gears that never felt quite right and always annoyed me. I also own a 2007 STi which has a legendary 6-speed so maybe I’m just spoiled rotten.

    • @jamessimonds4458

      The premium comes with alloy wheels. The base has wheel covers. You want to get at least the premium level. I own a base 2018. I have lost 9 wheel covers. By the time you pay for list covers, you could have owned the alloy wheels. The 2.0 is a very weak engine. Subaru shoulda at least offer a naturally aspirated 2.5

      What to do with all that extra hp when you're not allowed to drive faster than 100km/h or 60mp/h in most of the world? My first car had 123hp and it was more hp than I needed. That Volvo 240 was quick. But handling was really poor. It felt almost like it wanted to flip in the corners when driving slightly above Normal speed limit. My current car, levorg has 170hp. I don't strictly need more on winter roads. Going 0-60mp/h on ice isn't significantly faster if you have 400hp on road legal winter tires.

      I agree Juan. I own a 2018 Impreza and it is slower than molasses. Subaru should off at least the 2.5 that they offer in the crosstrek. Not asking for a WRX. But 30 more horses would be an improvement.

      Just got one- it’s very nice with nice features but does feel a bit cheap with plastic feeling interior almost feels like driving a toy car and is very light (don’t recommend driving in high winds. Be prepared to pay a lot for warranties and things it adds a lot more to the price. Other than that I love it. Very good on gas- a lot of features. I recommend going cvt version and not using paddle shifters in cvt. Even though I do love it I think for $30,000 I could’ve found a more solid vehicle tbh.

      I've never driven new cars but I just leased a 22 impreza premium. It's a solid car - I don't do much driving since I work from home mainly, but it's comfortable and feels sporty enough. One odd thing is for iphones you won't get carplay unless a cable is physically plugged in (although the much more basic car connection works via bluetooth). Also no GPS built in. In general I think it's a great car and looks clean.
