When we were created in God's eyes,He CHOSE that we humans would have freedom to choose all things. From evil to Devine, He chose that we could know it all. So, watching you create a NAS from very old computer parts was good to watch.....and it works. My oldest son has installed a ceiling to floor computer rack full of various equipment. I admire how he has done this without a degree in computer engineering and has purchased everything online from local sellers at very reasonable prices. He has even hosted his NAS on the internet which I use watching movies. He also produces web pages doing it the old fashioned way without using a web production program. He has produced a web site for a local school and this has led to other orders from other schools. Very proud of him I am.

I put together my first PC from bad boars and a dead power supply that I repaired, in the late '80s. I had repaired over 100 Commodore VIC20 and C64 computers in my home shop, before that. I was buying dead C64 for $25 and selling them for $125 as fast as I could repair them. I could usually only fix five, in three hours. because my shop wasn't well equipped.
20 years later, I worked on an embedded controller board for a kU band communications system for the ISS.
I had a blind ham radio friend who learned to assemle a PC without help. and instal the software.
Most of the job is mechanical, and common sense. I did notice that he didn't use any anti static protection when handling the boards.
I am not trying to put down what he did, I'm just saying that you can learn the needed skills. I worked at several Electronics factories that built PC boards in house. Most assembly was performed by women who had never seen a soldering iron, but a week later they did excellent work. A desire and reasonable dexterity are your basic tools.
I did NASA qualified soldering, so I did most of my rework at my last real job, rather than send it to rework and wait to get it back. skills, learned over time, built on my building a radio on my eighth birthday, 64 years ago.

That's how my family built a computer in USSR. Only parts had to be smuggled in and they were all fried. There is no way in the world we'd be able to afford functioning components for an IBM compatible. Everything had to be resoldered. Had to make our own case at a factory. We even cut our own heatsinks out of aluminum blocks. Only thing we couldn't fix or find replacement for was the Dallas clock chip with a sealed battery. BIOS had to be configure during each bootup, but I got so used to it, I didn't even pay attention to the process. Computer was an absolute miracle, but good luck finding software for it before internet in a country surrounded by an information wall. Programs were as hard to find as the parts.

Impressive. Love from Oregon. I don't use google. I use Brave and have been happy with it for nearly a year now. I was able to find the labelle movie and watched part of it til i realized what you meant. I get it.. in usa we have something many do not know about.. it's called, The Wayback Machine. YOu can find nearly any document, letter, movie etc that has been removed by the government. They have been getting smarter and have been removing some things from there as well. TY for sharing this with us. Oh and i lvoed the trip to see the Ostrich's. We have owls in our backyard and squirrels, rabbits -nature. I feel birds and squirrels dried black oil sunflower seeds. I enjoy watching them eat.

Cool compilation, there's something satisfying of slapping together a second hand rig. I like how you treated the solid chunk bomb proof CPU like it's a family heirloom but had the CPU socket on the motherboard which is the actual delicate spot uncovered the entire time.
