They made the aisles smaller, two carts used to be able to pass each other, and now they cannot. You also could get many varieties of items, now they are much the same. Your stores seem more like ours 20/30 years ago. "They" are making your country into consumer one too. You can get it now, but quality and variety will continue to deteriorate. But the average income is much lower in Russia than in the USA, so you have to look at their prices as a percentage of their disposable income. I think that's why Dan identifies many things that he says are too expensive.

    • @vivalarazausarmyvet4453
      @vivalarazausarmyvet4453 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dan himself said that half or less than half of Russians are car owners. Clearly they make less money than Americans do.

    • @thomasottvideos
      @thomasottvideos 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Actually, the cost of goods and services in Russia are relative to Russia's AVERAGE national income.
      The average national income in Russia is 1,240,000 RUB, which equals $14,000 in the USA. By comparison, the average annual income in the USA is $59,000 (5,200,000.00 RUB).
      So, when Dan calls out "cheap" prices in Russian stores, those prices "seem" to be a bargain by the USA's average annual income standards. By Russian economic standards, the prices are relatively expensive.
      The reality is that a $14,000 equivalent income in Russia doesn't go that far. So, that seemingly cheap $5.00 bottle of Russian liquor is similar to purchasing a $20.00 bottle of cheap liquor in the USA.
      In other words, all that glitters is not gold.

    Your English is amazing!!!! This store is great practice for English. People may say this product isn't good quality but not everyone has access to all of the food all over the world. We all do the best we can with what we have.

    Hello Dan! Peanuts are a not the word for every nut! The first kind you put in your cart for Sati were Cashew nuts, the 2nd were Almonds, good for the brain are called Walnuts and Peanuts are small little "nuts" but they are actually legumes like beans! So if you talk about any nut just say nuts not Peanuts okay :) Blessings to you and the family! PS try to find BASMATI or JASMIN rice both are asian rice and soooooo good!!

    Hello from Cincinnati Ohio!! The grocery store you showed us is comparable to our stores called Costco and Sam’s Club. They sell a lot of items in bulk. Your prices seem comparable to ours or even a little less. It’s interesting seeing how a lot of things in your country are like ours. We are all alike ! Love to you and your family ❤

    I’m not sure if it’s the same, but looks to me as if this might be a version of the French hyper market chain Auchan, which I remember from when I lived in France, the branches in the Paris area (I lived in Paris) were normally huge - cheap basic stuff, food and non-food items. Your videos are always very interesting. PS/ I’m from the UK.

    Dan, the green bowl that you said you liked. You called it “Mate” meaning the finish on the dish was not shiny and it’s “matte” pronounced like cat. Means dull finish. Big store yes I wonder about the quality of some of the items. Reminds me of COSTCO

    No Dan we have to read the ingredients for all of the products we buy and a good rule if it’s in a package it’s probably not good for you, the good foods are the ones not in packages. Also another tip is that good unpackaged foods are on the outer aisles around the grocery store the Center aisles are the places with all the packaged and processed foods. So we usually just walk the outer perimeter of the grocery store and shop for our produce, our fresh meat, our dairy products and then that’s it we stay away from packaged foods. We try to buy our produce in season because it’s cheaper but you can buy all kinds of produce year round now but that wasn’t always the case. But with imports from the USA and Mexico there are a lot of fresh fruit that comes year round. I very much enjoyed this video. God bless! 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁I think the exact same thing as you and I won’t use the checkouts where I have to do it myself I want to keep peoples jobs it’s the same here.
