@@markpugh6808 it has. It should have ended there. I have to admit it. Kevin Feige needs to do some clean up or be replaced. They ruined Marvel Studios. These people that are coming to make these movies. They need to get out of the business
Awesome review dude. In my very meaningless opinion, I think the biggest issue is that Marvel (movies) went from being produced by a studio to a corporation. A studio needs good actors, directors with a vision, so on...they need to make movies. A corporation, in this case Disney, make products. Products created in a board room, looking at numbers on a PowerPoint, it's soulless.
Man the cope with this movie on the forums I frequent is so strong, it almost seems cultish. People can like what they like, but seriously guys; sometimes a movie is bad and you just have to accept it.
Pretty much. These people pretend to be kind and tolerant, but the minute you express an opinion they disagree with, they will attack you like a rabid dog.
maybe because yall never actually provide real examples of such projects being bad. You always just use broad statements like “poor writing” poor, acting” without actually pinpointing what that is, and that’s because you guys don’t actually know what’s wrong with the movie. You simply don’t want them to succeed because: diversity. Most “criticisms” aren’t even actual criticisms and are more just what people would have preferred to have seen instead.
Yeah, I noticed this too on Marvel and Star Wars sites. They basically just simp for whatever content is produced now because "they like marvel" or "they like star wars". No criticism is allowed, just toxic positivity. Their defense of everything is "it is fun!!!" No matter if it isn't or it bombs or is critically lampooned. They don't care. It exists and watching crap is better than nothing. They basically think if they are super positive, they can somehow will it to success. The reason for this is they are leftists and hate that people discovered their agenda and what Disney is doing. They know the criticism of their far left politics in movies has mainstreamed, so their whole goal is to shout it down and act like everything is great!! They are trying to shut all criticism down over their political beliefs. It is NOT based on actual facts or the quality of any particular movie.
Just like how Secret Invasion introduced the MCU's version of Perfect Cell, The Marvels film has officially made Carol Danvers into the MCU's Vegeta. If the intense gravitational force and heat of the Sun can't even burn her armor off ( thanks Marvel, for not even giving us a flustered Carol), there is nothing in the MCU that could stop her, save for a Black Hole, and the most that would do is trap her for all eternity.
What I don't get is why Carol, Monica, and Kamala even swap places when their powers are used when none of them even have the same powers. Carol got her powers from a Tesseract-powered engine accident, Monica got her powers from being in the Hex for too long, and Kamala got hers from her mutant DNA. Yeah, the movie says that they're all light-based, but it doesn't really explain how and why the glowing wall did this to them.
Man, I love your reviews. Pithy, blunt but erudite, and presented with that rapid-fire way you have. Someone wrote on here that he/she is a cat person. So am I, and and I'm fed up with jerka**es exploiting cats to try to be "cute" or "wacky" and "goofy."
Got to love how the marketing and activist were saying that "this movie is not for you" but now the movie is bombing, media is blaming "incels" for the fail. No one is even asking why the OTHER half the world's population isn't supporting this film.
As I was watching the evacuation scene from the skrulls planet, Kamala wanted to save them, but Captain Marvel told her they can't, I said "This is it! This is the movie" A fan meets her hero and disappointed her by not trying hard enough, but Captain Marvel also teaches her that reality is not always rainbows and flowers and you gotta make tough decisions in life and as a superhero. But then they moved on to the next crap. A good movie was there between Ms and Captain Marvel. The other lady served no purpose. I would exclude her.
That could not carry this dumpster fire. Also that troupe has been overused. That alone was not sufficient in of itself. Though I do agree it is a good one, its not enough
I like how to make a "wacky" and "silly" film Disney specifically hired a director whose previous movies were about as hilarious as pancreatic cancer. The list of things working against this production has been biblically long. It's kind of impressive even, really.
@@ajclements4627 I feel like he will definitely make it better, but I feel like the age of superhero films is drawing close to an end. I'm not saying that they can't be successful at the box office, but I doubt we're going to have avenger level success anymore.
I tapped out after Doctor Strange 2 and definitely quit after She Hulk. That broke me entirely. Kevin Feige needs to clean house and start fresh. None of these movies and hows have been worth watching. They keep trying to earn the views of an audience that doesn't like this material.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Disney will never make a better X-Men movie than Days of Future Past. They may never make another good movie at this rate
they didn't even make that. Fox did. Disney and Marvel can't continue at this rate. The movies and shows are severely low quality. I quit big time after She Hulk episode 1. Marvel need to take a break from making any movie and restructure the entire division. These movies are just garbage can fillers.
@@handsomedubbledee I know Fox released Days of Future Past. I'm saying that the X-Men are in dire straits now that Disney / Marvel Studios is running everything. In hindsight, I wish actual filmmakers like James Cameron got together and bought 20th Century Fox instead
@@LukeLovesRose I feel you. You are right. But that would have never happened. They don't want the smaller people on the food chain to own any part of the studio system. They want people they can control creatively. At this point, I have no faith in anything Marvel related. I am tapped out with them. I haven't seen a Marvel movie since Doctor Strange 2. That was it for me
I think you are wrong about a reset being difficult. They should shoot some new post credit scenes for Deadpool 3 in which he hunts down and kills off the MSheU - SheHulk, Sylvie, Captain Marvel and the two nobody diversity hires, Ironheart, Kate Bishop, acassie Laing, Valerie etc. True to Deadpool's character. Cue huge cheering in cinemas. Reset complete.
You know in the future when white people are a minority class in USA, don't scream diversity matters when majority black audiences prefer black actors and to spend money on other ethnic groups. See South aafrican whites crying about not being labeled African because they're a minority there hence don't get representation
The weird thing is that this would be a tribute to the deadpool killogy in which deadpool literally kills the entire marvel universe. It terrfied me how he just took everyone out. Like he killed Thor. Doom. Tony. Luke Cage. Punisher. Guys that can take on armies and they just died....
Marvel’s basic assignment for Captain Marvel movies is : “Pretty blonde in spandex jumping around and punching people.” If you fail to make money from men specifically in such an endeavor you have failed spectacularly.
_Love and Thunder_ is a very low bar to cross. _Love and Thunder_ felt like three entirely different storylines trying to occupy the same movie, a movie that couldn't decide which mood it was actually going for and the forced "humour" simply being cringeworthy in how tone-deaf it was.
So if I'm getting this right, this movie's similar to the classic comedy movie Spaceballs, Iman Vellani out-acts even an Oscar-winning actress, *and* it has kittens in it? sounds like a must-watch!
Thorias deserves so many more subs. Your reviews are such gold! As far as the female villain, South Park addressed that. Take Ronan out, make him a woman, and make him gay.
Yeah, it's pretty ironic that they did exactly what South Park just roasted Disney for doing. They have so much egg on their face over this, it's ridiculous.
When the film turned into a song and dance number half way through I walked out. Worst movie ever. The Marvel franchise has been nuked with this movie.
Captain Marvel suffers from the old Rule of Par: when she's fighting a guy or a city-sized space ship, she might as well have an S on her chest--heck, she should have two S's on her chest. She is invincible. However, Put her up against a Kree foot soldier who happens to be female and, guess what?? All that power gone. She is, at best, on par with the woman she's fighting. She could be fighting Jennifer Garner's Peppermint and get totally thrashed by that ice cream-swilling little cherub. That's the Rule of Par--women are always on par with each other. It's been around for a long time, you just didn't see it very often.
it's amazing how much Marvel is trying to push MS or caption Marvel for the last 2 decades in the comics they have had series runes that have been canceled and restarted multiple times and the sales are just some of the lowest in the comics today and that of the already declining comics sales Marvel is determined to make these characters THE NEW THING even though for the last 20 years the advances have been completely rejecting them
actually, Ms. Marvel has been very popular in the comics. Her first comic run only got canceled because of an event that put a pause in all comics to focus on that one event. The second run was just a continuation of the first run, which ended, because that simply where the writer wanted to end the story.
That is arrogance. When someone believes they have much more skill to make a good product than they actually do. A good businessman would stop after first attempt. These people... They kept shoving Brie in our faces.
For reasons that simply don't make sense to me, the MCU was in a hurry to skip over the last sixty years of classic stories and adapt the modern titles that simply don't sell.
Why is it, that Hollywood thinks POC equals alien? I'm getting sick of earth skin-tones on aliens, especially the ones with canonical skin-tones. Kree are mostly blue. All Tamaraneans are orange (DC's Titans). If you're gonna do a "space" story, let's see differently evolved species of intelligent beings. Not planet Bollywood.
To be fair, none of the heroes in the Marvel universe ever feel like they are in danger. They all seem completely invincible, which drains the action and fight scenes of any real tension.
You know they could've solved the whole OP Captain Marvel problem if they just brought Rouge in the movie to accidentally drains Carols powers. Im tired of waiting on the x Men. They should've just ended after endgame and spent these last few years doing X Men and F4 movies instead.
I agree, the only way to save Carol as a character is by putting her in a coma. Then again,I dont even want 80´s Rogue in modern day, they would absolutely ruin her.
Or honestly just making a villain that's worth a damn. Captain Marvel isn't really OP honestly, not by comic standards. She's basically Supergirl. Any half decent writer should be able to come up with something to challenge her. She feels OP because her main villains all suck. she fought against was some dude with the Kree, and apparently in the Marvels, now it's some woman with the Kree. So it's basically Superman takes on Hans Gruber and there's zero tension because the villain is no challenge. The hero feels like a bully instead of an actual hero because the entire plot is cleaning up minor threats. Full power Thanos still beat Captain Marvel. And honestly I feel like they could do something interesting storywise with her, if they put her against some real opposition. She'd actually be a great character to use to showcase how badass Kang is, if they had him kick her ass. Instead they have Kang lose to ants.
Careful what you wish for. They'll probably do something like omg Carol is so awesome her awesomeness gave me the ability to fly just by looking at her
Well, it looks like the X-men won't be introduced until Secret Wars converges 616 with another universe. Also, the Rogue story doesn't work if Captain Marvel is never allowed to weak, and when the character is completely defined by how powerful she is, I don't see that ever happening.
Certified cat person here, I’m known as “Cat Daddy” this movie is an insult to all my people, cat ladies, cat daddies and cat mommies..This movie would have been better if they got rid of the 3 main human actors and just kept the kitties.
I personally think that the cats scene where they swallow up the entire station to the tune of "Memories" from Cats is some sort of tone deaf cliche in making Captain Marvel movies at this point because they did the same thing in the first movie when they used "Just A Girl" from No Doubt during that fight scene.
I've heard that the movie was surprisingly a-political--or at least, not as political as something like She-Hulk, so...I assume the movie cut out a lot of cringy activism with feminist and racial politics, since the screenings went terribly.
What can suddenly grant ability in the Marvel universe? Mutation. What does one of the negabands do? It unlocks the ability of it's mutant wearer. What is Ms. Marvel? A mutant. The reason for her rapid gain of physical prowess is due to the unlocking/triggering of mutant abilities by the negaband. Well, that is at least viable within the context of the MCU with the information available. Since the MCU can often be at odds with the source material, who knows if it makes sense for the actual character from the comics.
The writers have no idea how folding space works.(there's no vacuum when to points connect) They could have explained the sun going out by having the kree defend themselves from enemies using a weapon that syhpons the energy from their sun. The movie is full of things that look cool but makes no sense.
A 15 year old girl, who is able to easily fight and defeat MULTIPLE highly trained, armed, adult male soldiers of a violent millitary centric civilization. That's hilarious.
The only way that's believeable is if she had home advantage. The Korean and Vietnam War proved that with home advantage no matter how advanced your weapons are, you can lose. George Lucas understood that with the Ewoks. Home advantage.
Also I forgot to mention, Kree are far more durable and exponentially stronger than humans...or at least they were shown to be in previous mcu installments and the comics.
Marvel is pathologically incapable of noticing the irony in using Valkyrie to attract audiences. From a plot standpoint, Carol, who let the Skrulls down big time, is entrusting them to a beer-guzzling, slave-driving deserter.
The Focus of this movie should have been Danvers training both Monica and Kamala about being a superhero. Monica, getting over her past and learning how to control her light abilities; while Kamala learns how to NOT rely on her powers and prepare for the harsh reality of being a superhero. On the subject of Kamala, they should have made her heavily dependent on her powers. Using her stretch limbs to just flail around, no precision or technique just mindless flailing and spamming energy blasts. A good tactic against standard threats but useless against enemies like the Kree. Which will also lean in to the switching gimmick as Kamala is the one to suffer the most due to her relying on her abilities heavily. Heck, Tony Stark himself wasn't a great fighter and just used his suit/prediction AI to fight Steve Rogers and Thanos. So you can have Kamala being a crappy fighter but due to her ingenuity, can utilize her powers and the switching Gimmick to come out on top (assuming they didn't do this as I am not gonna spend $20 on a movie I am certain doesn't do what I described)
Ahhh, when the fan can conquer a better movie than the studio that actually made it. I love it. But they don't listen to the fans because they think they are above them. But it's the fans that bring them prestige. They are going to feel it. The Marvels is the beginning of Marvel's declie
He is so right. I am fully done with marvel and done with disney subscription no more marvel for me. This movie tops the garbage in my trashcan in my kitchen.
This is why i dislike the marvels. I am a major Marvel fan. They took the decades of rich history of Ms. Marvel who becomes Capt. Marvel to honor her mentor Mar-vel. (A male) They Ignored all of the history the comics created from her. Our amazing African American Marvel who held the title and her powers was all Light based. AGAIN ignoring all her history in comics she has for over a decade. Then the young Ms.Marvel which is a Inhuman NOT a mutant or some fancy bracelet powered kid..A third time ignoring all the comic history.. As a Comic reader from decades of reading these characters I am mad that the MCU/Disney ignored the history of these women and made them a dumpster 🔥. The writers a open Male Hating Feminist hired by Disney/Marvel. SO here is my RANT: Note just my opinion..👌 "Disney has turned every movie after End Game into 💩. No one is doing anything right. It is like some cash grab and screw the story. And more movies are being written as feminist leads and not anything to do with comic book Characters rich history of the decades that started in the 60s to now. NOT ONE of these writers has done any research of character history. ZERO NOTHING.. It is all on what sounds politically correct, race swapping, and feminist roles.. This is all on Disney and Marvel taking the history of characters "FANS" love and 💩 canning the source of the characters for some politically bull💩 and feminist agenda. BOTH Marvel/Disney and DC/WB's are doing this in a epic dumpster 🔥 just to make quick 💰💰💰.. Why even bother going to the movies anymore😤. And for god sake stop turning every red head in the MCU into a different race🤬. It is so easy to just open a dang comic book and read their history and use it and have a actor be that character without ruining the history of a character that has been around for decades. And yes i am pointing the finger at Disney. The company that is ruining Walt Disney's dreams and the history he made." Okay Opinion Done..🤟
Great review, you obviously understand the material better than the movie's writers. Haven't seen the past few Marvel movies and dropped Disney+ years ago, this is not the way.
🤡🤡🤣🤣🤣. Yeah, make a movie nobody wants, with diverse strong female characters nobody cares about or know, directed by a no-name diverse director that doesn't know or care for the franchise and you get yourself this incredible flop. Thanks Disney, keep the good woke...ohh sorry, work 👍👍🤣🤣🤣
You know, the MCU might, ironically, be the best thing that ever happened to Ms Marvel. Yes, it's obvious that neither the comics, the show or the movies know what to actually do with her, and ALL of the 'plots' that involve her are COMPLETELY nonsensical but you have to admit the actress portraying her, Iman Vellani, is at least a good actress and brings 'some' likability to the character - same with America Chaves and Xochitl Gomez, actually. Seriously, say what you want about their appearances in the MCU, they were not the worst parts of those projects - they were fairly decent. Now if only we could start working on giving them actual good material to work with, proper character arcs and actually good plotlines. ... It's never going to happen, is it?
" Iman Vellani, is at least a good actress and brings 'some' likability to the character" She's terrific I agree - I thought all of the cast in Ms Marvel were excellent in fact. I liked them enormously. I loved the style of the series. But its downfall was the lack of any real threats, and any real mission statement for the character. When we should have been having a villain looming large, we had plots that included Someone stealing shoes from the local Moque foyer... I'd like them to have a second series, one where they fix the problems in content and pace, and give this cast another chance to really bed in and maybe develop a fanbase. But with Disney and Marvel it's all about churning out 'content', not quality....
This movie is a perfect storm of complete garbage. Every single aspect was flawed or deficient. It didn't even look that it was going to be watchable at any point in it's production.
You forgot 2 more things that make the plot useless: - the Race Gender Swapped rWoman The Accuser is looking for the both bracelets and when she finally gets them, she explodes. - How the hell the Race Gender Swapped rWoman The Accuser gets to have Rhonan the Accuser's "hammer" when it was destroyed in the first Guardians movie?
I just saw this the other night. You are spot on with your critique, Thorias. I don't think you mentioned Kate Bishop specifically, but that was kind of weird, even if it was a little funny (the scene), Here's the tiny silver lining that can be made into a star's wardrobe: The maturity and growth of Miss Vellani's Ms. Marvel character. If we assume that it will be a few years before any "Young Avengers" movie is produced, that gives her time to mature physically. She can then become mature as a super-hero, as a young woman in her role. She can rid herself of the doe-eyed fan-girl and solidify herself as Ms. Marvel. If the next writers get this right, they will be sure to give her a more serious and authoritative presence. She should be working out with the best physical trainers and fight coordinators in the business. This young lady has incredible talent; the camera loves her. I wish her well.
They have her assembling a team...a kid assembling a team of young adults (parent permission slips aside) on whose government budget, working for whom, to fight whom, and apparently their parents are all like sure you can put our kids in danger on the daily...
Great review. I’ll never see this movie (or Capt. Marvel 1) because the writing was clearly on the wall for who it was aimed at and it wasn’t me, but I enjoy listening to you explain how terrible it was. It’ll be interesting to see how much money Disney has to lose before they realize that pissing off your core audience and then insulting them for abandoning you isn’t a very good business strategy.
The annoying thing is I’ve allways liked Kamala Kahn her powers are interesting her style is unique and her personality is very appealing. Issue is she’s bogged down by being a fan girl for one of the least interesting heroes in the fandom, being a discount Xman, and being written by people who are way more interested in family drama stuff than being an actual superhero.
Kamala was always a self insert fever dream for Sana Amanat that's why there's that whole depiction you're talking about. Sana barely had a years experience in the comic industry, working for then NYC based Virgin Comics, which was at the time, also only a year vin, created by writer Deepak Chopra and Virgin Records owner Richard Branson. The idea was to make comics based off West and East Asian folklore, so naturally Deepak was diversity hiring. This was also right around the time Marvel had already been purchased by Disney for three years and Carol Danvers aka Ms Marvel, had gotten a feminist rebranding as she took over the Captain Marvel moniker. Also Miles Morales had just been a year old in creation. When Virgin Comics went quickly under, Richard Branson broke free from it and Deepak moved from NYC to CA and rebranded it as Liquid Comics, Sana was suddenly out of a job and now woke Marvel came poaching her to join Marvel, even surprisingly giving her a high position in the company when she herself even questioned why. The. 2 years later Kamala was created. Originality meant to be a Mutant, she was tossed in as an Inhuman because of the whole bitter rivalry of Marvel's Ike Perlmutter not wanting to give Fox any promotions of their X-Men movies through their comic division. So instead we got Inhumans through comics, Agents of Shield show and that awful mini show. Hell even that awful Marvels Avengers game later. Mind you don't forget X-Men were missing in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite game. So yeah Kamala was always hindered to be a Carol Stan because at that time they were trying to rebrand and push Carol hard in the comics to eventually streamline her into the MCU but no one liked her as her comics had to be rebooted several times over (and still do), and even Kamala had struggled because of that. So it's ironic how Deepak's original plan was to make original characters based off mythology and yet the first thing Marvel has Sana do when hired, is make a derivative character that is a Stan of a derivative character idolizing and living in her shadow. Just like Miles Morales. And Kate Bishop And later Ironheart And what they did to Sam Wilson Just showing Marvel and Disney are creatively bankrupt
@@budgiecat9039what’s wrong with that? Spider man iron man and even captain marvel are bound to generate fanboys and fangirls…and GASP…some of them may even be not white and not male! Oh the horror!
Captain Marvel has a lot of potential as a character, if they actually explored the fact that she, in the comics at least, is a borderline villain character. The whole "Batman is a fascist" thing really could apply to her as she is so ludicrously powerful and routinely makes decisions that are for the cosmic good, but which are absolutely atrocious for pretty much everyone involved. The fact that they thought such a character should be in a wacky, slapstick hijinks movie does the character so little credit. Instead she should be a character study in hubris and the fact that she is operating on a morality level akin to a person surrounded by insects.

To think, Disney happily spent $275 million on this, under the complete belief they could recoup at the cinema box office. Just goes to show their arrogance is truly astronomical.

She was the best part of the show. Iman Vellani has something special. It's just that Marvel has made her look inferior. Put her in something else, I could see her becoming great like Jenna Ortega did
This movie is the result of a long series of terrible decisions Marvel tried to curb way too late, like trying to stop a half ton snowball after it’s already most of the way down the hill. It’s not so much that they didn’t see this movie would fail, but rather they didn’t have a choice but to get out of the way or get crushed beneath.

Not always a bad thing, but in this case it is.
Yup. Just like James Gunn. Marvel was dumb to give him up.

Exactly, try being a Disney SW fan with a different opinion, the whole thread attacks you.
maybe because yall never actually provide real examples of such projects being bad.
@@bobross1829 LMAOOO what agenda 😂😂
Just like how Secret Invasion introduced the MCU's version of Perfect Cell, The Marvels film has officially made Carol Danvers into the MCU's Vegeta. If the intense gravitational force and heat of the Sun can't even burn her armor off ( thanks Marvel, for not even giving us a flustered Carol), there is nothing in the MCU that could stop her, save for a Black Hole, and the most that would do is trap her for all eternity.
She can fly FTL and survive hits from the Power and Reality Stone so a Black Hole will be nothing to her.
You mean Jiren.
Until it spits her out in disgust
XD
Black Hole Power!!!
Put her in Undead Unluck and shed be dead in minutes.
Disney Marvel writing
And does this mean that they're the only 3 beings in the universe who have light-based powers? That seems... unlikely.
Not only that Carol kept using her powers by flying putting Kamala in danger, Kamala can't fly and she would be falling back down to earth 😅🤣😂

You mean you don't like "black girl magic?" Who can "see light"-whatever that means... How racist! (Sarcasm)
That could not carry this dumpster fire. Also that troupe has been overused. That alone was not sufficient in of itself. Though I do agree it is a good one, its not enough
Is anyone really surprised by this?
I like how to make a "wacky" and "silly" film Disney specifically hired a director whose previous movies were about as hilarious as pancreatic cancer.
The list of things working against this production has been biblically long. It's kind of impressive even, really.
You mean the "Candyman" remake wasn't a barrel of laughs???
Well, Marvel wanted a female director. I guess, Nia Dacosta's gender was the only qualification they cared about.

Captain Marvel suffers from the old Rule of Par: when she's fighting a guy or a city-sized space ship, she might as well have an S on her chest--heck, she should have two S's on her chest. She is invincible.
However,
Put her up against a Kree foot soldier who happens to be female and, guess what?? All that power gone. She is, at best, on par with the woman she's fighting. She could be fighting Jennifer Garner's Peppermint and get totally thrashed by that ice cream-swilling little cherub.
That's the Rule of Par--women are always on par with each other. It's been around for a long time, you just didn't see it very often.
Brie's 'acting' has always been questionable to me. I hear the little kid in Room ran circles around her in terms of acting as well.

Only thing more painful than this movie, is the disney shills who defend and like this.
All this nonsense started once Stan Lee passed away.
it's amazing how much Marvel is trying to push MS or caption Marvel for the last 2 decades in the comics they have had series runes that have been canceled and restarted multiple times and the sales are just some of the lowest in the comics today and that of the already declining comics sales
Marvel is determined to make these characters THE NEW THING even though for the last 20 years the advances have been completely rejecting them
Because everybody moved on to manga. Manga isn't having this problem
actually, Ms.
They all seem completely invincible, which drains the action and fight scenes of any real tension.
did u watch iron man?
You know they could've solved the whole OP Captain Marvel problem if they just brought Rouge in the movie to accidentally drains Carols powers. Im tired of waiting on the x Men. They should've just ended after endgame and spent these last few years doing X Men and F4 movies instead.
They can only make X-Men and Fantastic Four movies after 2025
I agree, the only way to save Carol as a character is by putting her in a coma.
Nerdrotic's review on this just came out and now we have this.

Like I said, they learned all the wrong lessons from the first movie.

At least Valkyrie was a fun character when she was a beer-guzzling, slave-driving deserter. She's been a walking sleeping pill since then.
Definitely doesn't work out like that since Kamala's powers aren't stretchy or giant fists anymore, she's like a green lantern.

" Iman Vellani, is at least a good actress and brings 'some' likability to the character"
She's terrific I agree - I thought all of the cast in Ms Marvel were excellent in fact.
I suppose. But it starts with having good source material to adapt. And for those particular characters that... could be a problem.
This movie is a perfect storm of complete garbage. Every single aspect was flawed or deficient. It didn't even look that it was going to be watchable at any point in it's production.

- How the hell the Race Gender Swapped rWoman The Accuser gets to have Rhonan the Accuser's "hammer" when it was destroyed in the first Guardians movie?
I just saw this the other night. You are spot on with your critique, Thorias. I don't think you mentioned Kate Bishop specifically, but that was kind of weird, even if it was a little funny (the scene), Here's the tiny silver lining that can be made into a star's wardrobe:
The maturity and growth of Miss Vellani's Ms.
Everyone and their mom saw this flop was coming from a mile away.
Great review. I’ll never see this movie (or Capt. It’ll be interesting to see how much money Disney has to lose before they realize that pissing off your core audience and then insulting them for abandoning you isn’t a very good business strategy.
The cat thing actually makes sense. Take this movie and throw it in the litterbox.
Facts
She was more likeable in the Avengers game 😂
And Kate Bishop
And later Ironheart
And what they did to Sam Wilson

Captain Marvel has a lot of potential as a character, if they actually explored the fact that she, in the comics at least, is a borderline villain character. The whole "Batman is a fascist" thing really could apply to her as she is so ludicrously powerful and routinely makes decisions that are for the cosmic good, but which are absolutely atrocious for pretty much everyone involved.
The fact that they thought such a character should be in a wacky, slapstick hijinks movie does the character so little credit. Instead she should be a character study in hubris and the fact that she is operating on a morality level akin to a person surrounded by insects.
Making a movie like that would require nuance and intelligence though. Marvel is short on both right now.
This is The Greatest Film of All Time. The First Time a Woman Lead an Action Film. The First Time a Woman Lead a Super Hero Movie. With a Wonderful Meaningful plot about Identity.
😅😅😅😅
SO, THEY PUT 3 CHICKS IN IT & MADE IT SUPER-LAME, , (So, are the Cats also super-gay}?🏳🌈
I've been waiting for his opinion on this marvel movie
They can't or just won't learn. How in the hell can any studio lose hundreds or millions on one flop after the next? And these idiots just keep doubling down and making more of the same crap.
Why couldn’t this movie be about rouge.
Yeah about her comatizing Captain Marvel! Now I'd pay to see that
The Rogue story doesn't work if Captain Marvel is never allowed to look weak.
The only time a wooden actor was out-acted by the plucky kid actor and it actually worked as a premise was Last Action Hero. Could you imagine how much better this film would’ve been if this film went that route?
Doesn’t the Kree empire have multiple planets? Why not just move refugees to those ?
Thanks for enduring this in our stead Thorias. Great review for a movie that truly lived don to our expectations.
See, now that movie poster has me wondering: would an hour and forty-five minute movie where all the actresses were replaced by cats have been more watchable?
Cats, the scifi
Dear friend, thank you for taking the bullet once again.
You saved a couple of hours of my life (I was tempted to watch the movie just to see how bad it is).
I will use those hours to do something much more enjoyable (a wisedom tooth extraction, for example)
If you want to see it go see it. Never let someone's opinion sway you
To think, Disney happily spent $275 million on this, under the complete belief they could recoup at the cinema box office. Just goes to show their arrogance is truly astronomical.
This is just sad review honestly, not for marvel. For you
One of my highest viewed videos of the year that gained my almost 500 new subs. I'm not sad at all.
Hey, give the cats a break? They didn’t ask to be affiliated with insane feminists? That, and they’re the best actors in the stupid movie 😂😂😂
They should have made a Goose the cat origin stand alone movie (Without all the marvels) because he is the only good thing in the Captain Marvel movie even better than Samuel Jackson that might have worked :)
Probably why they had the poster with all the cats on it. The only thing I remember from Captain Marvel is the cat.
When did people stop using the word "actress"? It's always "actor" now.
Maybe they thought "actress" was assuming someone's gender.
put a chick in in...actually put 3
Don’t…. Tell…. Me…. To…. Watch The Marvels and tell me I’m sexist if I refuse. I’m not watching The Marvels, Disney! Don’t call me racist or sexist or else you’re just being the toxic ones! NOT ME! 🙄
You can take nitpicks and make them sound like the most significant flaws ever criticized. It's an art 😅. I never even thought about the "Where did Kamala Khan learn how to fight?" thing. It doesn't really matter, but it's still a valid point. Reminds me of Shuri, a tech nerd, putting on the Black Panther suit and suddenly she can defeat a warlord in hand to hand combat
It matters
It's a skill honed over many many rants.
Finally someone mentions the ribbon scarf thing. I was rolling my eyes like what the fuck? hitting people with a scarf throwing them left and right knocking them off like with a scarf??Wtf??She has no superagility, superstrength nothing!
I see that absolutely everyone is agreeing that Ms Marvel's actress is trying her absolute best here
She was the best part of the show.
Ill never watch this movie. I dont watch most superhero movies. I just enjoy watching people dump on it.
