  • On today's episode of content you didn't subscribe for, we're replacing the S13 heater core inlet/outlet pipes. S13 heater core replacement instructions seem to be vague when I was trying to find info for this project myself so I figure this might help someone one day This video shows the process while keeping your AC evaporator housing and AC lines intact.

    Install/Remove Notes:
~Not in the video but the glovebox does have to be removed. It's fairly simple but there are youtube guides if needed.
~Unbolt the ebrake handle if it gets in the way of the dash install/uninstall. Handle is held in by only two 12mm bolts.
~It's important to make sure the AC evap housing and blower motor housing are all loose. This is the only way you can wiggle out the heater core housing without having to remove the entire AC evap assembly.
~Drop the steering column to remove the gauge cluster bezel. It only takes 2 minutes and a few screws to avoid breaking it. I noticed S13 owners and youtubers tend to skip this part and end up breaking it into pieces.
~I recommend taking pics or video record the bolts you remove to make installation easier. It takes a little time but you'll be glad you did when you don't have to determine which screw goes where.
~Defroster vents are brittle. You can put a film of lube on the defroster tabs when reinstalling make the reinstallation less forceful

    General Notes:
~Some S13's do not come with a removable inlet/outlet pipes. Some were integrated into the core. Based on what I've seen, early 240SX models with the single jingle KA24E seem to have them. Double check before deciding just the replacement pipes.
~The aluminum inlet and outlet pipes in the video were brought on ebay from flat4gd
    ~Inlet/outlet gasket o-ring Nissan part no. 9223271L00

Oh and the climate control. Is it all electric or are they’re cables that go from the climate control to the blendoors?

So, I'm in the process of seeing if I can get the heat back in my project S13 and have been buying pieces to piece it back together. What is that box that's between the core box and the cream colored blower motor box? I didn't even realize I needed that piece. (I guess that would be why nothing fit together correctly. Lol)

That would be the AC evaporator housing

Quick question, could i just remove that heater core part entirely and still have a/c? Living in a tropical location so heat isn't a big issue

The outer casing for the heater core would still be needed since it controls the vents for both heat and a/c
