Being the least mechanically inclined person on TH-cam… I tried it and BOOM! Bulb changed. Discovered that on the 2021, the cap wasn’t a screw cap but more like a snap in place cover. If I can do it, anyone can. Thanks brother!

@@KurtofTrades Got it with 2 hrs of messing around. Just such a tight space. Fail to the Jeep engineers if you ask me! Your video was very helpful, was just way more challenging than expected! Passenger side is no fun at all.
Success for the engineering dept lol. They design new vehicles to be nearly impossible for the do it yourselfer. They don’t even have a dipstick for the tranny, they hope you’ll never service or check it so it’ll blow on you and you’ll buy a new vehicle that’s even harder to work on.

@@ticallianstallion9328 I feel your pain. It was a while ago already and I only remember it just taking forever and multiple attempts to manage to line up the bracket. I found the right angle to get my hand in and then just had to mess with it until it fit in perfectly. Check the grooves on the light and do your best to get it in by lining it up the best you can before going in. It will go, just takes time. I still can't believe how hard they made this. I also have small hands. If larger hands, it may be almost impossible.

Able to change drivers side with your tips. I made a tool out of pvc pipe to get enough torque. I had to pull off the bumper and remove the headlight housing to change the passenger side.
Some models are harder with the reservoir tank in the way. Glad to help!
any tips on turning the gizmo hold the lamp, I've been trying longer than I should be to get it to turn. Any one else have an issue turning it.
FYI, if you have HID bulbs, they do not "twist out" there is a arm/tab/lever that you have to release, then the bulb pulls out straight, do not twist

The key for the passenger side: go through the wheel well. Get a finger or two on the plug part of the bulb and pull down to TWIST THE BULB counter clockwise and it pops right out. This is the third video I’ve watched and no one has explained that critical step.
Did the auxito LEDs require a decoder?
Hi thanks for this. Will it work for the low beam that moves up and down?
It shouldn’t be any different as long as they are halogens. The hid beams are a little larger and have different connections but basically the same process to access them.
I couldn't change anything even with this tip.
FINNALY I managed to change those bulbs via factory opening in wheelwell but only with 3d printed custom wrench/adaptor.
So if you can't do that this way, try 3d printed wrench.

Do you have a suggestion on what to do if the bulb will not come loose from the socket? I've used every bit of strength I have and it will not budge.
I find it best to go up through the wheel well to loosen the passenger side bulb, you can get a finger on it to loosen it, then take it out through the top
I have a 2018 grand Cherokee and the bulb doesn't just twist like normal. It appears to have some sort of locking ring around the bulb that's giving me fits, especially since my hands are large..
What do youmean pull it down to loosen it? Does it twist counterclockwise to remove? You have to pull then twist?
Twist counterclockwise to loosen yes
You can pull down on the bulb connector which will turn it counter clockwise
Don't wanna sound stupid, but my low beam went out. Are there a low and a high beam in the same housing? How would I know which one I'm removing?
High beams are closer to the center of the car lows are on the outside. Same housing I don’t think the hi beams have a cap covering them though can’t remember
Thanks for the tutorial! I had to replace the driver side lamp. Very little cussing! 20 minutes and only lost one grommet for the air cleaner box. 6 bucks at the dealer. I can’t wait for the passenger side to go! 🤪

I tried.... Would you mind flying to California and helping me? both bulbs are stuck and I can't get the leverage to loosen them. :-(
Try going through the wheel well on the passenger side. I’ve also heard people using an open end wrench on them. Not sure what size. Good luck!
I used a rag to get better leverage on the bulb housing to get it loose. Make sure you’re going counter clockwise (pushing down on it) to get it out.
So you do everything but change the light bulb, great.
It just unscrews the hard part is getting to it

what are the bulb sizes?
H11 low and I thing 9005 for hi beams
Is there only one bulb for high and low beam?
2 separate bulbs, the hi beams are easier to access they are the inner bulbs

In the dealership now I ain’t about to do it myself 😂 also the way the set these cars up now is so dumb. The nicest and easiest ride at our house is a 2004 Silvarado. Just turn the latch and the whole headlight comes out in like 3secs😂
I can't seem to loosen the bulb from any angle my hands are too big, I think I'm going to have to loosen the bumper and get my hands in that way
Loosen it from the wheel well hole, you should be able to get a finger on it
It's Humiliating but I had to take it to a local shop because my hands were cut up and bleeding, I miss my WJ when all it took was an 8mm bolt and 3 pop clips. something is seriously wrong with engineers who designed this@@KurtofTrades

@@KurtofTrades you did. I was not at my best when I posted this. The bulb is replaced now thanks to you. I ended up doing everything from the top. I needed to walk away for 3 minutes and come back. Ridiculous design.

Helpful video but I would have loved if you actually would have moved the camera in a different position so we could see once you remove the airbox what everything looks like and what you're removing
Once the box is removed it’s very easy to see both bulbs, the low beam is the outside bulb, disconnect and twist counter clockwise to remove

i can barley get 3 fingers on the driver side bulb scared to pull it and not be able to get new one in 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Its NOT that easy trist me, spent 5 hours trying, getting those boxes out of the way is not hard, but the low beam is in a tube, this tibe has the bulb several inches inside this tube, i have normal size hands and i could not get my hand in deep enough to the bulb, almost need a little kid size hand, what he is showing is no way close to reality
If you can get the boxes out of the way it shouldn’t be hard to reach the bulb even with big hands. The passenger side is a lot more difficult for sure, but this is the easiest way
Man. Thats alot of plastic to come out. Id probably break half of it yanking on everything. Car is going to the dealer if a hl goes out. Lol
I just had to change mine and I cannot stress this next sentence with enough emotion to convey my feelings... "JEEP CAN GO TO HELL!" 😡 Who designs a headlight this? Grrrrr!!!!
They intentionally design vehicles likes this now hoping you'll just take it in and have mechanic fix /replace things instead of bring able to easily do it yourself.
There’s no way you actually changed the bulb on this vehicle. It’s one thing to demonstrate how it’s supposed to be done, it’s a whole other thing to actually do it. This is one of the worst designs to replace a simple part I have ever seen. And, I was in the middle of changing out my driver’s front fender so I had the wheel liner out and the air box. There is no way to get a man sized hand in the area provided while also being able to get enough torque to twist the bulb. You need Martian fingers to do this.
I’ve actually changed them this way like 6 times haha, I don’t have abnormally small hands. The best way to get the passenger side bulb loose is to reach up through the wheel well you can get a finger on it and loosen it, then go to the top to take it out. Once you do it a few times it’s not that bad. GL

You're not going to change the "easy" side (the driver's side) in 10 minutes. Trust me.
Stupidest design ever! They either didn’t think this through when designing, or did it intentionally to try to get more people to bring them in for service. Either way, I will not purchase another Jeep product due to this insanity!
Most useless video regarding doing this job , it one video has actually shown it being done without cutting video.
You cannot see the bulb being removed with how little space there is.
