Today, it remains the companies best seller and most known model. Personally, we think the first generation has better driving dynamics but the second generation has a much more luxury car feeling interior. Hopefully, Infiniti will figure out how to blend the two with the upcoming third generation.

Ness Rosenbrad If you find yourself in the market for the coupe, make sure the windows go up and down, the window motors were known to fail and if they don't work, you can assume the rest of the car isn't in great condition either.

I have a 2003 Infinti G35 Sedan 6mt for almost 8 years, and I am still loving it. Very reliable car, no major repairs except the dashboard replacement due to electronic problems, still runs, engine is bulletproof, I use to daily it like crazy but now it's my summer car. I kept it because it's literally a fun car to drive.

i got 05x, silver with black interior(awesome) 2 years ago after seeing this video and i'm glad i did, for the money you can't beat it, it's been reliable and i haven't lost my love of it. i've only had to do the basics with it... tires, battery, wheel bearing tune up, and brakes. I have 0 regrets, i love it even though it's 10 years old now(can't tell that it is) , besides the dated instrument panel... great car.
P.S. Rain/Wind Gaurds cut down the outside noise considerably. i got the ones that fit in the window, not the ones that tape on.

After owning a first AND second gen G35 (my 05 was actually identical to this one aside from the fact mine had grey interior&RWD) I can definitely say there are pros and cons to each. The first gen is definitely a little more raw. Feels smaller and lighter, more checkable, but it is a little slower and a little louder road noise wise. The second generation definitely comes with more tech and a quieter nicer interior. But honestly if I had to give up my 08, i'd have no problem going back to a 1st

I had the exact same model and year vehicle. Very smooth and pulled strong. The AWD was a dream to drive during the winter where I lived. Minnesnowta. Please note that the camshaft sensors on these vehicles can go bad. While driving down the road if you have a bad camshaft sensor/s the car can and will shut off locking the steering wheel, sputter and die. Very dangerous because it happened to me. I was very disappointed that something so small such as a camshaft sensor could put my life in danger. Luckily I was on a 40mph zone. I've read up on the recalls and reviews online and many people have had this experience. I had it fixed, bought a truck and sold the infinti. Never looked back. Will I ever buy another infiniti/Nissan? Maybe... if its a GTR, imported skyline or a silvia. Lol. If you plan to purchase or looking into purchasing one of these please be wary of this. Overall a nice luxurious ride for the time I had it.

You know, it's interesting. I currently own a 2013 G37x, which I LOVE, but there's something kinda special about the First-Generation G Series. The lines are very pure, they are lighter ( and by extension, more tossable ) and the interior just hugs you like a glove. I just found one online super clean for only $6000. Talk about a STEAL for a pre-owned Sports Sedan !! Take care guys :)

My older sister bought an 03 G35 sedan, her's was silver on black. I loved when she picked me up from middle school. Got a lot of attention, than not even after a month she traded it in for a 03 G35 coupe in red/black. this was her first car ever. I have driven and rode in her car so many times but I agree interior quality was just really bad when you compared to a TL of the same year.
She had so many issues with electrical, oil leaks, coolant reservoir cracked after 14k, she had to get it towed

If you have money to repair these cars incase you have a timing chain problem or oil consumption etc. Then go for it. If you really wanna get smart about it get a good racing team like apr or nismo to modify and change a few things to perfect the engine

Just bought a 2008 g35x second gen. I have owned and driven both the first and second gen and the second gen is far superior. The engine is a lot more responsive, it has a wider power curve and revs to 7500., It looks better, and it’s more refined and feels a lot more modern. Also with the right exhaust it also sounds a lot better then the first gen.

I own a 2005 G35X and absolutely love it, handling is awesome, power/speed are very good. I disagree about his assessment on the interior, I think it's clean and simple and the amber lit gauges are great (even in the sunlight). Biggest negative is lack of an aux port or USB.

I had a g35 coupe and now have a g37, both died. Like these engines die in different ways, but almost ALWAYS DIE. I absolutely love my g37 but is known for having a galley gasket failure and g35's especially the uprev motors 05/06 have oil consumption issues can you can easily without knowing it burn your engine by running out of oil, my g35 coupe was an 07 with track package(19in rim) and it was the best car I ever owned and I owned an Audi b7 s4, a c55 amg and a 330i bmw but the g35 coupe was without a doubt my favorite to drive and next to my catless c55,my favorite sounding too. And next to the s4 the best handling

For those who are confused: This G35 is the Nissan Skyline V35 in Japan~ And the Nissan Skyline brand still exists today, but only in Japan~ Not to be confused with the Skyline GT-R as that's a completely different nameplate, with a more sportier feel.

Thanks for reviewing this, as I originally wanted an '06 6MT as a first car in 2004-05 and of course my parents didn't agree(I later got an '08 V36 6MT Sport model. I have to say though, the first generation G35 (V35) didn't come out in 2003. It was actually designed in 1998-99 and previewed as the XVL Concept in late 1999 and early 2000. It later was unveiled in the summer of 2001 and went on sale in March 2002. Actually, by 2003 this facelift was designed & introduced in 2004 as a 2005 model.

I have an 06 g35x. It's a decent car overall. A little cheap inside. It feels solid going down the road. It rides well but the rear suspension tuning and geometry need work. Large bumps are not handled well. It has good power but needs to rev above about 3400 rpm to really come alive. I like the narrow feel and low cowl. It feels like a small car when driving which is nice. Gas mileage isn't great and the engine revs too high on the highway. It's around 2500 rpm at 60mph/100 km/h. It needs taller gearing or another od gear. Overall a pretty good car but definitely doesn't feel like a luxury car.

He hads a Acura now with no problem, but he misses his Infiniti and my cousin had a infiniti also, eventhough it was falling apart over the years it was still running strong it was a 1993 and sold it in 2008 .Good luck on your search

I wanted something that was luxurious, spacious and powerful. I looked at the G's but they didn't appeal to me like the I35's. I ended up getting the I35 as it proved to be more spacious and a softer ride. It feels just as fast as the G but doesn't have the fun of a rwd car. Your reviews are great man, makes me wish I could also have a G next to my I35.

Just test drove an '06 coupe and an '04 sedan this past weekend. I'm looking for a reliable used luxury car and although the G sedan is definitely the most enjoyable to drive that I've tested (also tested '03 I35, '06 TL, '99 ES300 & '05 ES330), I'm still not completely sold on it because it got mixed reviews, but damn that thing can move! You ever drive any of the 03-04 M45s or any Q45s, Sofyan? I've been looking for one to test drive but they're incredibly rare unfortunately.

Excellent review. All of your points are dead on. When car shopping between the G35, IS, and TSX (couldn't find a TL in my price range...) I found the IS250 to suit me best. The G by far was the fastest and sportiest, but for the time being, was way more power than I needed. The TSX felt gutless. The IS provided a luxurious environment as well as a decent amount of get up and go. That being said, I would gladly take any of the 4 cars. Thanks for the review.

I test drove a 2009 G37 Sedan a few years ago & it's just a blast to drive! Very quick acceleration, very agile handling & very supportive comfortable seats! I currently drive a 2007 Nissan Altima which is a very fun car, but this car would be a nice upgrade.

For those of you who have experienced both the Coupe and Sedan, are there any noticeable differences? I really want to buy the Coupe for its styling and better exhaust note, but the sedan is so much more practical, for me especially seeing as I give my friends rides to and from places. Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a 2006 sedan. I love it. I do like the styling of the coupe better, but the practicality of the sedan. The sedan, depending on package, is actually lighter than the coupe, so you're not really sacrificing performance. If you get the 6 speed sedan, you get an extra 18 horsepower, so 298 bhp.

ewt415 I recently bought an 04 Coupe 6MT. Love it so far, and it sounds amazing. I wanted back seats for ocassional passengers. I love the styling, its quite fast. But it's not the most comfortable, but its fine for me. As for the back seats, their good for anyone under 5'5 and medium to slim build. I have had a few of my friends tell me they aren't the most comfortable because their isn't a lot of leg room. If you have more than 1 passenger often, go for the Sedan. If you ocassionally have more than 1 passenger, go for the Coupe. I have a red 04 coupe and I LOVE IT!!!

I looked at a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupé. I'm 6' 2" tall and the headroom in the coupé is not adequate. When I was driving down the road my right knee accidentally turned the key and turned off the ignition while I was moving! The Infiniti G35 Sedan has much better ergonomics, weighs less, offers all wheel drive, and costs less. I would recommend the Infiniti G35 Sedan over the coupé if you are the same height as I am.

Get the sedan it has way more space and the backseats actually recline which is rare in a sedan. The only coupe i know of that has backseat space like an original midsize sedan is the Toyota Solara coupe.

I will give you on the rattles, but as far as peeling plastic in what areas? Using real aluminum is way better than any painted silver from an 03-04 when they finally brought brushed aluminum in 05. TL leather did wear prematurely but has since been fixed in the 4G TL. But the G35 door handles creaked, and hers had rattles as well but cant agree on wearing well
Since it had hard plastics the coupe doors had bad scratches compared to a TL thats soft on lower door panels.

Thankfully I went with the 2005 Mercedes benz c320 kompressor instead of this 05 g35x both my top two options when I bought my first car, for a while I was wondering if I made mistake going with the Mercedes (only cause you can't customize a Mercedes like you can customize an infinity. There a loads of after market options for a car like this where as the Mercedes, too much aftermarket and it just looks ugly) but after seeing a full review of this vehicle, I'm happy with the choice I made :) also just a quick point I think is kinda important, the g35x I was going to buy was 500 hp!! I think the Benz I have is around 230 I think

love your reviews but we are here to listen to you talk about the car and to hear the car. Not generic background music. It can be there, just don't make it so we need to actually listen past the music to hear you talking about it. Not even 30 seconds in and I'm already wondering when it will fade out or will I just go find another video. Like I said I really like the way you cover cars and this is a car I'm interested in but nearly getting a headache because I'm trying to listen to your words over one of the most generic guitar chord progressions known to man....
I hope you don't see it as an insult but more as constructive criticism. Keep up the good reviews.

Has anyone had a 2004-2008 TL and a 2003-2006 G35? I just got a TL, and I really like the seats and the interior quality (especially how quiet it is), but I want AWD again, so I was thinking about the G35x. Will I be stepping down in highway road noise and seat support/softness? My car has nicer seats than some of my friends have in their houses, and I'd like to keep it that way.
