I got my 03’ G35 Sedan back in 2017 with 46,000 miles! I still drive it to this day. These cars are reliable! Over the past 4 years, I just had to change the 2 camshaft sensors, radiator, sparks plugs and 1 coil. But I did it all myself, these are easy to fix and work on. Would highly recommend getting this car!!! I’m now at 89k, I’m sure it will last the next couple years or longer.

Great review -- brings back memories!!!
Drove the crap out my 04 G35 6MT and eventually sold it with just under 400,000km on the clock. Was exactly the same as yours except the fellow who first owned it bought the pop-up Navi system so I didn't have to cubby hole. Other fun facts about the carbianit was the last car Infiniti/Nissan made with a cassette deck and the spare tire was mounted on a matching alloy rim (expensive but great having a spare). None ever mentions the folding rear seats which were/are super cool. No idea why it didn't catch on as they were supremely comfortable. And the arm rest on the back has a hidden side compartment which is Velcro'd down.
Was the best sports sedan you could buy in 2004 and super reliable with proper maintenance...

I gotta say these are the best bang for your buck as far as getting a decent used luxury sports car. Ive owned a lot of cars over the yrs. Im sort of biased with Nissan's though. My first car was a 90 300zxTT. I've had a 95 M3 it started falling apart and it was just 12yrs old when I got rid of it. Had an Eclipse GTS it was just too slow. 02 Z28 Camaro absolutely loved that car though. My 1st stint with a sporty sedan though was a 94 Maxima SE, it was a 5 speed manual and it had a LSD front diff. It came with the fwd version of the 300zx engine. It just had a timing chain instead of a belt. I dropped it 2 inches, had a pop charger intake, and full exhaust from the y pipe back with his flow cats. It was loud and surprised a lot of ppl. It was the 1st time they used the 4 door sports car moniker. That car never let me down, not once and I drove the hell out of that thing. My next luxury sports car was an 00 Lincoln LS. It was only a 7 yr old car when I got it, came with a 3.8 V8 and it was surprisingly pretty fast. Ended up totaling it though, so I don't know how reliable it would of ended being. Over the summer I was in a need of another used car. I came across an 04 G35X, I was hesitant because I never had an awd car before and it had a lot of miles. But I knew Nissan's are pretty reliable. It looked to be in decent condition and was completely stock. So I knew it wasn't really driven hard, it just had a lot of city miles on it. I could tell because of the wear. It was also 16yrs old, so I knew it needed new bushings for the suspension. Even with them being worn, I was shocked at how well it drove. It definitely didn't feel like a 16yr old car. I've driven cars half it's age and with 140k that drove like shit in comparison. I managed to get it for $2,500. A lot of ppl want alot for these just because it's an Infiniti. But an older high mileage car, is still that. When I got it I cleaned the hell out of that engine. Added a CAI, 5/16th Blox Plenum spacer, new valve covers w/ gaskets and hardware that I painted. I actually found a lot of great deals on ebay for this car. People can knock on ebay all they want. But If you know what you're looking for you can find some great deals. For example only paid $55 for the valve covers, $24 for 6 Platinum spark plugs, $35 for 6 new coil packs, $55 for a set of cross drilled rotors and ceramic brake pads. $60 for the rear set. $30 for the CAI tubing and just got one of those Spectre Cone Air Filters from Autozone. I painted the plenum as well, before I did all of this work. The plenum would get so damn hot! Now I can drive it 4 hrs straight and whenever I touch it, it's just slightly warm to the touch. These VQs naturally run a little hot, so they love the cooler air. I must say just with these intake mods and a good tune up it brought this car alive. Love the way the intake sounds, and it's pretty quick.
It did take about 800 miles for the car to get used to the new parameters as well as me driving it hard from time to time. It would trip codes, which I solved. I still keep getting a lean code on bank 2. I believe I have a small vacuum leak somewhere. I haven't quite pin pointed it though. It's not really effecting the performance of the car. I need to pull the plugs on bank 2 and see if any are getting fouled. The plugs are only a few months old, so they should be in great shape. Other than that it does consume oil. These engines are known for this issue. It's actually fairly common on many high mileage engines anyways. It's the only thing that worries me. Because I doubt the previous owners were as meticulous as I am in checking the oil level constantly. So it may of been driven a few times with low oil. I installed an oil catch can, it's a baffled can with a closed system. So I have both banks running to one can that has and outlet going back to the lower plenum vacuum. When I had everything apart it surprisingly wasn't that dirty. Not alot of oil build up, not quite sure if it's been apart. It had to of been as I noticed there's no outside studs on the upper intake manifold. This could also be the culprit of my vacuum leak. Im thinking it's one of the hoses I have running to the OCC. I had to completely plug up the inlet on the intake tube. So I know there's no air getting in through there. It could also be that Spectre intake. I ran a can of seafoam through it before I did all the work I did to it. So I really cleaned the hell out of the upper and lower intake manifolds. When I peaked down to look at the intake valves they were also surprisingly clean. It wasn't getting a lot of blow by, but when I installed the OCC. I get maybe an oz of blow by buildup. So it is catching something and it cut by the amount of oil I had to top it off by half. I figure the oil consumption is due to work piston rings. I have no clue if the timing chain has been replaced. The car feels strong and healthy over all. It's still a 16yr old vehicle that has 209k miles. I've put nearly 10k on it over the 7 months I've had it. All highway miles, it definitely loves to be driven. For such an old car it really feels modern. The engine is of course outdated but I know it's nothing special. It's not the fastest car by any means. I've driven and owned some real fast sports cars. But it can hang with faster cars. It's just a nice used car and you won't find one for as cheap that are still reliable. You usually have to drop atleast 3k if you don't want a complete pos car these days. As long as I can get another 100k out of it, I'll be happy. I definitely recommend them. But get one that is stock and from an older person who didn't drive the hell out of it. The one I got had just been neglected a little bit. It's just hard to find one that isn't beat all to hell like he mentioned in this video. It's also hard to find one that isn't over priced. Some ppl are insane thinking they can get over 4k for a high mileage G35. Reliable they may be, it still has high mileage. Because you will have to put in a lot of work. Not because it's a pos, it's just due maintenance work. That a lot of ppl tend to overlook. The timing chain maintenance is the main one. I guess I'll find out in a yr or so. But for $2,500 by then I'll already gotten my money worth and some.

I got my '04 6 speed sedan for $5000 in 2016 with 132,000 miles on it. Only the 2nd owner, original adult owner had all the service records, maintenance log was filled out, even got the window sticker. Took 6 months to find a good one. Currently just passed 203,000 miles. I've replaced the radiator, brake pedal sensor, LCAs, VTC solenoids (leaking). That's it in 6 years and 71,000 miles. Still has the original clutch. Texas car so zero rust issues. Base model so mine doesn't even have a sunroof, sticker was $29,800. Most of the bolt-ons, Uprev tune, lowered using 350Z springs and struts, Hotchkis anti-roll bars.
FWIW, Car and Driver got a 14.2 @ 99 mph with their original road test of the 2004 G35 6 speed sedan.
Overall the interior is nice but mine has the base stereo, there's very little storage space in the console and armrest. Cupholders are pretty small. Seats can be an issue, they're perforated and prone to diagonal tears. They are really comfortable, most of the miles I put on mine are from road trips. 20 gallon fuel tank gives decent range too. The storage area at the top of the center stack is a perfect fit for a 6" Garmin between the edge of the door on the bottom with the door open as shown in the video. In hot climates, the leather on the doors eventually starts pulling away as the adhesive dries out in the heat.
The 6 speed base isn't that heavy, just over 3300 lb. Actually weighs less than the coupe and has better weight balance. 52/48 sedan vs 53/47 coupe. The main issue it would have on a track, especially a tight one, is the wheel base. It's pretty long. But interior room is great.

Your description/experiences is on point. The week after I bought it, the valve covers needed to be replaced because it leaked into the starter. Since then it’s been sensors & coils replacement galore. I’m sitting in Good Year as I type this because my 3rd coil has went out and I just got through replacing the 1st about a month and a half ago. Overall, amazing bang for the buck and my 15 yrs old baby is a head turner everywhere I go. I’d recommend this car to anyone looking for an affordable manageable lux/sport car. As long as you keep up on maintenance and getting the little fixes done as needed, your G should last for a long time.

How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking? Im from Dallas I just got an 04 G35X for 2,500. But it does have a lot of miles. It has 209k right now and it's reliable for sure. Just had to replace the starter. I got new valve covers with gaskets and hardware for $55 on ebay. I painted and installed them myself. Paid $24 for new platinum spark plugs, they normally go for $6-$8 a plug. Then I got a set of 6 new coil packs for $35! Ebay is your friend, but I do all of the work myself. It definitely made a difference, just keep track of the oil consumption. You have to constantly check the oil. The dipsticks design is straight dumb though, makes it a pain in the ass to read. It can safely drive with a qt low. But anything lower it starts wearing engine components. For such an old car, it still drives and handles great. The engine is strong and healthy and I definitely see it lasting another 100k. You'll definitely get your money worth out of it that's for sure. I just need to fix the suspension and that's it. It should be good for another yr or two hopefully.

Otherwise, probably could of got a few hundred knocked off the total price. I love it! Even at 16 yrs old, it’s a looker and I get tons of compliments everywhere I go around Corpus Christi and it get up and go when I need it to. Only thing I don’t like is the sucky gas mileage. • @DollFaceox
      @DollFaceox 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@nowimhigh yeah your miles are steep but with the Japanese made cars, it’s almost like it doesn’t matter as long as it’s maintained. I’ve seen a lot of Honda’s, Toyotas, & Infinitis with 300-400k on the clock and still tear the road up... That is the downfall of not knowing how to work on cars is I’ve got to pay 3x’s as much to fix whatever goes wrong. My dad is a mechanically/engineer inclined but I moved halfway away across the country by myself, so don’t have anybody close for that hookup and most commercial mechanics won’t let you bring your own parts. Tried a few independent mechanics but they’re unreliable. Like you, I’ve noticed the oil has needed to be added like crazy lately, it wasn’t like that in the beginning when first bought. I didn’t know the earlier generation Gs burned a lot of oil, I always heard the 05-08 did. So I’m surprised that this series does too.... I want to know, where everybody is getting their clear side markers from. I’ve looked high & low and all I’ve found is for the coupes.

@@nowimhigh Thanks. I’ve already replaced 3 out of the 6 all within a month from each other so far. The manager at Goodyear is honest & always tries to price the work that’s done at a decent rate to save me money. He said some of those coils are hard to get to without taking some of the other components out, so I think another is on its way out so I’ll probably just have them do the rest of them.

It'll last forever, just take good care of it. I have an 04 G35X that has 209k on it. I have over 100k more miles than yours. I can definitely tell you with confidence that it still is strong and healthy. I've also done some work to it. It's a fun car and I'm highly impressed with the quality of such an old car. I've had plenty of used cars over the yrs. I've never had a car as old as this one, that had so many miles. That still felt fairly new and modern. Other than the regular wear and tear of an older car. It is actually reliable af. I only paid $2,500 for it, but I've easily thrown about another 1k in it to get it in top notch shape. Just need to get the suspension up to date and it's good to go another 100k easily. Im going to drive this car until the wheels literally fall off. I have my mind set on my next car. I want an Infiniti M56S, they are really nice. 420hp V8 and you can find them for 10k-15k easily. I wanted a Q60/Q70 but they are still 20k+. So I'll drive my old outdated G35X for now.

Maybe G35 is not very fast but definitely not slow, either.
I would like to put some numbers from my personals 0-60 tests here...
    2017 GSF(my current car, 7K miles, almost empty gas tank) = 4.93
2007 G35S (my previous car and now my son's car, 112K miles, almost empty gas tank) = 5.07
    2010 M35X(my wife's car, 30K miles, almost empty gas tank) = 5.82
    2019 Q60 3.0t(loaner, 300hp, 6K miles, 3/4 gas tank) = 5.28
    2014 Q50 3.7(loaner, 6K miles, 3/4 gas tank) = 5.67
    2018 M4 competition (rental, 25K miles, 3/4 gas tank) = 5.0
    1
All the tested cars were stock and the tests were done at the same location and similar weather and conditions(T/C is on) with iphone DYNOLICIOUS.
PS: I also found Nissans were very good at 0-60 but not so good for 1/4.

My mint 2006 Cadi STS V8 just got wrecked, looking for another sporty sedan, and saw they made a G37 manual sedan, what are the main differences between a G37 and a G35? Also know that BMW made a 530i manual and I think you could get an Imprezza stick - none of these are going to be easy to find, I'm sure . . . . .
