Wow! Is this a national geographic short movie?? Beautiful shots, an interesting, chill and empathetic interview, and great climbing... We can't ask you more magnus!! Keep it up! Cheers from Italy!
I met Wolfgang Güllich during the 1982 international climbing gathering in France: They had just started their sport climbing association and invited 2-3 of the best climbers from each country to visit for a two-week trip to several of the (at the time) best climbing spots in France. The last weekend was in a limestone area south of Paris where the best french climbers had been rehearsing a new route which they thought one of them might redpoint with the TV cameras rolling. The crux was a 4-5m horizontal overhang on nothing but blind one and two-finger pockets, Wolfgang simply did one-finger front lever moves and hung around long enough to feel his way to the next usable pocket, then repeated that process all the way out and into the vertical wall above where he finally fell just before he would have flashed the route. Easily the most impressive piece of climbing I have ever seen in person.
For me this was one of your best videos. I think you are a great interviewer and a great story teller! I liked the rawness of this video. The B-roll was awesome as always, very cinematic, but I also appreciated that you didn't make too many cuts during the interview. Photos and videos really added to the story. Thank you. I don't agree with the liquid diet, but I respect the honestly and transparency. Looking forward to the next one as always! And the slightly somber music that you used for the climbing part especially after ending the interview on that note. Very subtle, but so respectful. What a solid dude you are!
Couldn't agree more, you could really feel when the emotions ran high as Alex began fiddling with the sand. It was like he was telling his story while simultaneously reliving it or picturing certain things in his head at the same time. It was almost heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time . Well done Magnus.
My first comment ever on a blog because I could not stay silent in front of such humanity sharing moment. As a climber I see so much ego and arrogance usually. With your video you demonstrate opposite. Edlinger was my reference before, now both of you will be on my mind for what you are and what you demonstrate during your climb, elegance, calmness, simplicity. A big thank you, you made my day.
I am a huge fan of alex. I watched all the movies and read a lot of his book .... but this was by far the best interview I ever saw from alex! great jop magnus :)
I agree, very very good! Interesting stuff coming up like huge freeing potential in Yosemite, and Wolfgang being the strongest by far. Change that camera dude, though ;)
Wow, quality everything. When the music cuts and all you can hear is the desert wind as you near the top it felt like I was there . That was next level
Speechless. When legends speak and you can listen in. A true pleasure to see Alex climbing - his style is the definiton of elegance. I love you for this video Magnus!
I have been following your channel Magus since nearly the beginning but missed this one. One of the best and so raw, passionate and emotional that interview. Please do some more like this as it was amazing. And the beauty of that climb in that location is next level.
I've seen a lot of your videos Magnus, but this is still one of my favourite ones ever. It's beautiful, professional, raw and emotional. A work of art.
Alex Huber is for sure one of the most impressive climbers there is. Fantastic video as always! Its amazing to see how graceful and relaxed he is climbing although he must be in his 50s now.
Got to meet Mr. Huber per chance while hiking in Osttirol once. Very inspiring and reflected person, it‘s still crazy to me what they did back in the days.
beautiful homage to Gullich, Albert, and Huber all in one...so thank you! I bumped into Kurt Albert twice in my weekender travels in California, USA and he had also the same down-to-earth compassion as Alex showed. All good men and I only wish you had something of Huber's dad to see....
Time and time again I'm just so amazed by the amazing quality your videos have. Not just the cinematography but also the stories and the climbing. None of the others even come close to your videos.
Thanks for the extended interview. As someone who just started climbing this year it is great to not only see amazing climbing but hear some first-hand history. Your best video yet!
What a fantastic video! You feel how passionate Magnus and Alex are about climbing and that it means a lot to both during the interview. Watching that felt so chilling.
Wow. By far the best video from the trip. Love how you interact and touch on some deep and human subjects. You did a great job with getting Alex to open up.
Magnus I have enjoyed all your videos already after joining off of Jujimufu! I'm already ecstatic of the subtle changes you have made to your channel to improve! I'm stoked to see what you will bring to the table in the near future! Keep up the great job!
Loved your vlogs and especially today's style of shooting. Really cool getting a history lesson and having you interview such a legend. Really well done with the shots, its unreal.
Watching this interview was a real experience - especially for a climber like me who started sport climbing in 80s. Listening to the stories from Alex about the early days of sports climbing and stories about the German legends from the 80's like Wolfgang & Kurt really highlights the evolution of climbing. I think this is one of the best videos you've made Magnus - don't get me wrong the new stuff is great but this video had soul.
Magnus, this is hand down the BEST video that you've made. I really enjoyed your series of videos with Adam Ondra but this video just hits on another level. I've been to Wadi Rum in 2020 right before the world closed down so this feels really nostalgic as well. I haven't climbed there since I started climbing only 6 months ago. One day, I'm gonna return to Jordan and climb there as well.
Your quality of production is far above standard! I really enjoy watching your channel. Thank you very much! And this one is special as well, as the Huberbuam were Icons for me in my youth, as they live close to where I live! Keep it up ❤
Love that old land cruiser @1:35 - I've got a 78 FJ40 myself, cant wait to finish up the transmission rebuild and get her back on the road! Great vlog as always. - cheers
Never forget how fortunate you are. Always meet the thought with a greatful heart, a willing spirit, and of course, a huge smile in your very being. Thank you for sharing your life of choices! We reap what we sew. A life of proper choices lends itself to greatness. Thanks for the courage in your life that bares this out. Always, great job!!!! david
Dude.....this is easily one of my favorite videos ever. A really good buddy of mine is cut from the same cloth and dude, I could just sit and listen to the legends from the golden era of climbing talk all day....big respect to Alexander and Lynn and all of the legends who are still around doing their thing. Got a little choked up listening to him talk about Wolfgang. Wow......#Legends #Respect
Amazing set of videos set in Jordan! I've been here for 1.5 years now and it's cool to see others experience it as well. Also, while I understand the lack of comfort with the word jihad given how it is used by extremists, the word in Muslim tradition means the personal struggle that one has to go through to be the best Muslim they can be. I think the meaning of personal struggle fits quite well for a climbing route!
Awsome great work man. Probably the best vlog I've ever seen. Thank you so much. Great to see the Olds and the Youngs loving the same things. And a super nice reminder to the basics and our all time hero Wolfgang. Thanks ❤️
I remember reading about Alex in climbing mags back in 2002 and I really became intrigued with the man. I wish I was old enough to have been climbing in the early days when pioneers such as him were leading the scene. They climb for different reasons and support those around them. Today all you really find is arrogant and obnoxious "climbers" that do it purely for thrill and not all that it truly encompasses. I've never felt more free than when I'm in the mountains on the side of a wall. The peace and serenity. Being one with mother nature; caring for her and hoping she'll care for you. Going out and doing what most never will and helping others with the same vision. I am very glad I found this channel. It is refreshing to watch a legitimate climber that isn't all about chest-pounding.
One of your best videos, Magnus. Amazing to watch! You captured the special mood during the interview and the climbing so well (with the help of the music and camera angles - thanks to Jan and Tommy who helped you). This video makes you lean back and think about the pioneers of modern climbing, about yourself and stuff, and that is what makes it so good! Thank you for that!
This was a really pleasant video to watch, very chill. As someone who only recently developed interest in climbing, and only as a spectator, it is really neat to hear the significant historical moments of climbing told by those who performed them.
one of your better vlogs Magnus. the interview with Alexander was great. really makes you tink less of climbing as a sport, and mor the pure beauty of it.
Mate the footage quality just went next level woah! Love it! You motivated me to start climbing exactly 1 month ago. In that 1 month I have progressed to v7 boulder problems thanks to your motivational videos and watching your technique!
this is a beautiful video. thank you so much for connecting your audience to the history of free climbing, and also just for hanging out with alexander. One of my climbing heroes but also he seems like a gentle, intensely intelligent and sensitive human being.
I rarely comment, but this time I couldnt hold back. Fantastic work, great documentary and interesting personalities! I love everything about climbing, It has become a huge part of my life! Thanks Magnus and Alex!
I watch and listen to the vids you make while I try on the hangboard I honestly like the conversations and techniques and climbing stuff you generate from the content you produce keep it coming
I rarely comment on any videos ever. I had to make an exception cuz this was such a dope video. Amazing work Magnus! Your music choices were spot on and fit perfectly with the visual side as well as the interview part... well actually with every part. Definitely my fave channel to watch. Thank you.
Awesome video! When you climb with people it's fun when you tell us who they are and what they've done, little interviews like this, I think you take for granted that we all know them, but you know them on a whole different level, than most of us can. Jordan looks amazing!
When Wolfgang died, it cut the heart out of the climbing community world-wide. It's both heartbreaking and inspiring to see that he's still missed and remembered as much as he is.
Fabulous documentary! Alex is an amazing all-around climber! His achievements are incomprehensible! In my eyes he has a definite Candidate for the GOAT
Man, what a great interview! Alexander is a legend and such a charismatic guy! One of your best videos ever, Magnus.
Fantastic Magnus, Great sportsmen, big social heart and also a good interviewer. You keep suprising me.
Wow! Is this a national geographic short movie?? Beautiful shots, an interesting, chill and empathetic interview, and great climbing... We can't ask you more magnus!! Keep it up! Cheers from Italy!
One of your best ever Magnus! You're a great interviewer.
Tom
Thanks Tom! Hope we can do something together at some point:)
It’s only a matter of time!

what a gift to have been able to witness this.
oh...and there was me thinking this video was about alex huber...:)
Terje Mathisen: are you the assembler programming legend?
@@patrickareny2551 Yes, I guess so. :-)
I had just started my professional programming career in 1982.

I know why you disagree with the liquid diet, you're already Slim.
regarding liquid diet: its not stupid if it works haha

My second! Agreed 100%. This video made my day better.
Dust in the wind and playing with sand between our fingers... "but that's life". Simple, real, uncut and emotional "unofficial" interview, great talk!
Well said Alina !
Yeah, I felt that too. Felt like I was there with them.
Also fully agree with you!

This video is a real gem. Most underrated and underviewed video of yours I would say.
Thanks so much for this awesome video! You legit make me want to climb every time I watch a video, so I'm going to do just that.
Alex Huber is for sure one of the most impressive climbers there is. Fantastic video as always! Its amazing to see how graceful and relaxed he is climbing although he must be in his 50s now.
Such an excellent talk you two had. It's nice to hear some of climbing's history from a man who lived it!
Excellent video as always.
Got to meet Mr. Huber per chance while hiking in Osttirol once.
Very inspiring and reflected person, it‘s still crazy to me what they did back in the days.
As a climber and an alcoholic, Alexander's diet blew my mind ! Thank you !
Hey Magnus u are the reason I am climbing ❤️ love ur vids and ur editing in the last few vids have been next level much love my dude from Australia ❤️
beautiful homage to Gullich, Albert, and Huber all in one...so thank you! I bumped into Kurt Albert twice in my weekender travels in California, USA and he had also the same down-to-earth compassion as Alex showed. All good men and I only wish you had something of Huber's dad to see....
Alexander Huber absolute LEGEND!! So good to see his worldly attitude, humility, living the dream, gent. Utmost respect.
Thanks
This is your best video Magnus. Love when you have strong climbers on the show especially icons like Alex.
Living legend. The Hubers and Lynn Hill are the kings and queen of the free climbing scene. They were doing it in the early 90’s, wow.
Fuckin awesome ! Nice to see that not only is Alex Huber a world class climber, but also a really cool and down to earth person .
Brilliant chat with such a legend and love the fact he still climbs with his dad
Actually one of my favorite interviews I ever saw of Alex. He just opened up wihile you were quiet in a way. Great work.
Magnus I have enjoyed all your videos already after joining off of Jujimufu! I'm already ecstatic of the subtle changes you have made to your channel to improve! I'm stoked to see what you will bring to the table in the near future! Keep up the great job!
as a big Huber brother's fan since my childhood I really thank you for this lovely video.
Loved your vlogs and especially today's style of shooting. Really cool getting a history lesson and having you interview such a legend. Really well done with the shots, its unreal.
Huber is a great guy and was really one of the strongest out there ! Cool you did the interview.
You've been stepping up your game Magnus. Every video is better than the video before. Keep it up!

Alex is such a great inspiration to me. I can't wait until January when he'll be giving a slideshow in my hometown
Magnus, this is hands down the best video on your channel - interview, Alexander's charisma and the climbing, 10/10
and music of course
Magnus, this is hand down the BEST video that you've made. I really enjoyed your series of videos with Adam Ondra but this video just hits on another level. One of the best interviews I've ever seen with legend Alexander Huber. Very intimate what he said about Wolfgang Güllich. Thanks a lot.

Amazing to watch how calm and smoothe Alexander is climbing.
Love that old land cruiser @1:35 - I've got a 78 FJ40 myself, cant wait to finish up the transmission rebuild and get her back on the road! Great vlog as always. -

Awesome. I’ve gotta finish the bodywork on the fenders, do electrical, and then interior on my 71.
Man, can't wait for next summer, when you two meet again! So stoked to see both of you guys get along so well. Keep it up Magnus!
Absolutely my favorite Magnus video!!! What a beautiful interview

When Wolfgang died, it cut the heart out of the climbing community world-wide. It's both heartbreaking and inspiring to see that he's still missed and remembered as much as he is.

Thank you for that video Magnus. Great interview with Alex Huber - very honest!
Wow that was very special! I am a big fan of him and could really feel the vibes when watching that video! Big thumbs up for that!
Alexander seems like a very cool and calm guy
I love it, when mountaineers talk with montaineers :) Thank you !
@magmidt Just a friendly reminder that you and Alexander talked about climbing together in Norway in this video 😁
Lmao 18:51 that flake sounded hollow affff XD
Again a really great atmospheric video and a very deep and interesting interview with Alex Huber. Chapeau!
Oh Alex is gettin old but legend, my 1990s climbing hero together with his brother Thomas. Salute!
Such true quality content in this episode! This is so so good! Awesome stuff, keep up the good work 👌
