      Actually that's what Redbull actually does to make money... The drink is just a side business, there's not even a "red-bull" factory... It's produced by license
      Doesn't mean it's bad...
      It's a brilliant media marketing empire....

      @@xistsixt ???? Redbull made $6B from drink sales in 2019. The drink is the business, even if it's produced by a thai licensee. Everything else is marketing, it doesn't make money directly.

    • @vocalimpactplays217
      @vocalimpactplays217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      @@xistsixt Lol what? The drink is absolutely their main business, and the income from the drink funds everything else they do (sports events, F1/esports/football teams, wild one-off extreme stunts like Baumgartner's jump from the weather balloon, etc). F1 teams (any racing team really) and sponsoring events and tournaments eat up a TON of money and don't turn a profit on their own - the benefit is purely to get eyes on the "Red Bull" brand and get people to buy it. The company generally spends around 30% of its income (which is almost entirely from the drink) annually for "marketing", which all of this stuff would fall under.

    • @xistsixt
      @xistsixt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SilverScraper Answer in 2021..Red Bull sells eight billion cans(!) of their energy drinks but it doesn't manufacture any drinks at all. So how you want to get 6 billion$ out of that if you make only a fraction of a dollar for one can...? How you want to finance a F1 team with that? And Soccer team... And a flying WW2 Museum... And so so much more...
      There are multiple documentations that they make more money out of marketing the events and producing media out of them. What's brilliant in my opinion.

    I've said it before I'll say it again, Cedar Wright is one of the most genuinely good human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was a summer Intern for a gear manufacturer back in college, and was lucky enough to travel to the Outdoor Retailer convention. In between working shifts I would just wander the show and see all the newest gear, but when I went over to the Black Diamond booth, Cedar was sitting in the middle of it having a meeting with one of the designers about what I think was a backpack (?). So I'm a bit star struck as an 19 year old kid who is an absolute NOBODY, but also just trying to see what Black Diamond had. Cedar stops his meeting, stands up, walks over to the other side of the booth and shakes my hand asks how I am doing. We chat for a few minutes and he has to go finish his meeting again.
    He didn't have to do that, I wasn't going to interrupt, but he took a genuine interest (Or made me feel like he did) in me, how I was doing, and just wanted to say hi. I loved Cedar before that moment, and since then he has continued to be the awesome human I met probably 10+ years ago.

      He is a power beast. He can one arm pull up and stand ! His grip is like a vise and his short legs eliminate extra weight. He is a top expert but the highest form of climbing is technical and uses more hips and legs, not as much power.

    Yo magnus, great climbing as usual 👌 I went to a climbing gym (UK) for the first time in my life yesterday with my best friend. We both had a great time, and I was able to tell help him and myself a lot because of your channel. I actually managed to get a couple 6s and flashed most of the 4s and 5s! Even though I've always climbed trees and messed around, I just wanted to thank you, because that was mostly from your videos that I did that. I will keep saying it - I would love to hear more from you with whatever you're willing to share (whether it's climbing or not). I'm waiting for the day when I see you on a podcast of some kind haha. Hope you're well brother 🙏

    Magnus, its always fun for me to see you ramp up the intensity in situations like this. You manage it well with your verbal back and forth, but its so obvious how fierce a competitor you are, and how determined you were to have a clean climb. You are so in your element at times like this. This is my favorite "Magnus" type of video, it reminds me of how world class athletes are different from the rest of us. I still think you should swim the English Channel.

    Always good to see, that pros are humans to and say things like „you’re basically on Top Rope“ or „you’re on short leash“. Makes them feel not as crazy as in the movies. Especially a bad ass like Cedar.

  • @carazy123_
    @carazy123_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    17:41 You can see that Magnus is a good belayer here. The fall was far on purpose. The rope didn’t have extra slack-he let it release on the catch to slow him down instead of whipping him into the wall. Good job Magnus.

    • @Palek83
      @Palek83 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wonder how he „let it release on the catch” while using grigri?
      How do you know there was no slack when you cannot see Magnus there?

    • @Mike-oz4cv
      @Mike-oz4cv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no way to do a dynamic/soft catch when belaying with a Grigri from a fixed point. It’s soft because of the rope stretch.

    • @carazy123_
      @carazy123_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn’t tell if he was using a grigri. There is a chance there was just slack off-screen or enough rope that it was rope stretch, as both of y’all suggested. If so, my bad. However, grigris don’t always catch immediately, so it could have slipped for a little while-rather on purpose or not.
      Take my initial comment with hesitation, then
