I wonder if Gerald is the true villain of the movie. Like they’re going after Shadow, but maybe Gerald has been plotting revenge this whole time and using Shadow as a distraction. I have no idea, but I think that would be a great twist.

Im pretty sure Gerald will become the main antagonist during the 3rd act, considering he was during SA2, even tho he was dead in the game.
It could be that Eggman kills Gerald or torture him for information
Actually, I'm pretty sure Gerald is using Shadow to help him destroy the world to get revenge for his granddaughter's death. That was the situation in Sonic X and I had been seen a repeating pattern of Shadow's introduction in the franchise is him being manipulated into doing evil by the real antagonist.

From what I understand, they’re not doing the “Eggman and Shadow” thing like they did in SA2, (because they kinda already did that with Knuckles in the Second Movie and they’d be retreading the same steps) but it’s gonna be Gerald and Shadow being the main villains, and yes; Eggman helps Team Sonic.
But yea, out of the two missing characters, I REALLY DO HOPE that they have Amy in this film mainly because she was so integral to Shadow’s Arc in SA2.

I originally thought it was Black Doom as well judging by the new Sonic X Shadow Gens but I feel like it's something else now. I feel like Eggman's going to kill or torture Gerald for information and that's how he gets to know about the Ark in the first place..
