  • I posted an earlier video showing the steering wheel noise coming from my 2020 Kia Forte GT. After taking it to the dealership they confirmed that there was a noise and they went ahead and actually replaced the entire steering column under TSB CHA084 that took about a week and a half for warranty approval combined with the repair. This video is showing you how it sounds after the repair. To me, it seems like the sound is no longer there especially when I compare it the older video. If anybody else is having this problem feel free to show these two videos from before and after.

I have the same car in Mexico and I have the same problem, the dealer tells me that it is a normal sound but now with your video I am going to show that it is a fault that they have to fix, thank you very much.

Sure thing Hugo. Yes I would show them this video and I have mentioned the fix they did in the description - replacement of the steering column fixed the issue.
      Thanks for watching!

Hello What Kia dealer did you take your car to?

Having this exact problem with my 2020 sorento. Taking it in monday. I can tell it's the C-MDPS Small Bearing noise from reading the TSB document. The document links you to a video with this exact same noise. Hope it doesn't take a week and a half when they can just replace the bearing.

Thanks for the info. It's frustrating reading the comments seeing this happen with several different Kia models. I'm hoping Kia is keeping this in mind for their newer models.
I think it's dependent on the dealer with how long it takes - I hope they were able to fix yours pretty soon after posting this comment.
      Thanks for watching.

Trmac did the sound ever came back after fixing it?

Hey Rick we actually no longer own this vehicle but the noise never came back after this repair. We traded the car in with about 20k miles. I hope it doesn't come back for the new owner but who knows. Thanks for watching.

Have the same issue in my 2021 K5 GT Line. They are replacing the steering column next week.

Sorry to hear that. I hope they were able to fix yours and the issue hasn't popped up again. Frustrating to see a lot of owners affected by this on such new cars.

had mine replaced on my 2019 forte ex at 32k miles and it started making the same sound at 62k miles and they wont do anything for me since I'm out of warranty and the replacement column has only a 1 year warranty

Ha funny description - definitely not a pleasant sound. The dealer ultimately fixed it for me by replacing the steering column under warranty. I'm hoping that this issue doesn't affect too many Fortes.

Did they cover you for a rental? My 2020 forte 14,000 miles started with the noise.
      Is it a kia recall?

    • @trmac72911
      @trmac72911  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ElOsoPolar91 I think they would have if I asked but I didnt end up needing one; we have another car at home so I just used that. I don't do as much driving during the pandemic as I used to. I think the rental question would be dealer specific though.
And as far as I know there is no recall for this yet but as you can see in the comments, several people are facing the same issue. I definitely feel like Kia needs to review this and confirm that its not widespread.
