the easiest way to tell which side is dragging is to hit brakes and let go of wheel it will yank the car in the direction with the most drag generally speaking it is most common for the front end brakes to go out faster since there is more weight at the front
I'm in Sydney have a 2004 FORD BA Falcon. When I turned the steering wheel sharp to left/right it made an AWFUL LOUD SQUEAKING/SQUEELING ( eh..hah..eh...hah sound ) from the front end of the vehicle. Everybody walking on the street could hear it. Lots of stares...LOL! Mechanic greased the control arm. Made a slight improvement. But I ended up replacing it, your could hear the noise in the cabin while driving with the windows up. This is what I paid (prices will vary according to your vehicle). Runs smooth now. Hopefully this might help someone else. New R/H Lower Control Arm: $395.00 + (2hrs labour) $198.00 Wheel Alignment :$88.00 2 x Front new discs: $220.00 Set front disc pads $93.50 + (1.5 hrs labour) front brakes) $165.00 2 x Rear new discs: $209.00 + 1 x Set Rear disc pads: $93.50 + (1.5 hrs labour) $165.00 Total: $1627.00 ( inc gst: $147.91) (ex gst: $1479.09) 👩🔧👍
Yeah, state inspectors at MOT use that kind of a lift. Also some mechanics have them. They help alot. Some lifts that are designed for a wheel alignment also have the same feature.
Scary! You're driving on the wrong side of the road, and I'm expecting a head-on collision at any moment. Then, I realized you must be in the UK or Australia. 🙂
Woow 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 i think you should rename your video something to mention breaking issues in the title aswell. I think i may have just found my problem. Need to jack the car up tomorrow and inspect closer. Thanks
My car started manifesting similar issues a few months back, still driving as I thought it was just the pads (which were brand new). Took it to the dealer and had a rear passenger tyre replaced, same side but the calliper and issue still there (as they had issues). Today will go to a garage and have them diagnose my car and I still suspect its the bearing but sucks after spending over £1k at the dealership to still have the issue and them "saying its probably gone" Too bad we can't hear the noise the car was making so I can compare it with the one mines is.
Fuel filter under the back seat 100% !! Did I win the Teddy bear ?? 🧸 Nahhh.. I'm taking the piss !! Whilst braking I will take a Longford Longshot and say it's probably a wheel bearing.. Yeah it was LOL 😆
Took my car to the dealer and he changed the brakes. Now my car makes a squeeking nose from the front left wheel, but only when I'm turning right. My guess is that the brake pad is put on slightly off?
Hey those folks are driving on the wrong side of the road 😂👍🏻 great video I would have recommended doing both front bearings just me Iam very retentive 😁
I have a Kia optima lx.. I have this noise that sounds like metal on metal, but the weird thing it only starts when I cold start the car in the morning. Through out the day, I can hardly notice it but I can hear it when I slightly turn left or right.. I took it to midas and they said it could stearing wheel pump.. but I only hear it to the left front and not the right where the pump is located.. could it be road debri? Also the caliper was replaced and brake pads look good from what the mechanic said.. what is your thoughts on this?
I don't know much, I'm still learning about cars. But I saw in another video that the grinding or squeaking when breaking could mean you need new break pads. Some breaks start making noise to indicate that's is pretty worn down and its time to replace them. Eventually it's just metal scraping against metal. I would look this question up and search for other videos on it, that way you can see it and compare it to your car.
Having this issue right after changing the bearins on both front wheels. Will take it back to the mechanics so they can fix whatever they did wrong. Annoying af, thx for the video.
Well now, I’ve done all the tests and I know exactly what the problem is. I should take it back to the workshop to repair this, but to be honest I’m totally lost !! 🤣🤣
Having the same symptom, took my car to the mechanics but been said everything is fine, they cant diagnose the issues. Wondering if the wearing out wheel bearing has to necessarily make louder noise corresponding to the higher speed?
You can leave the tire on if it rocks right to left it could just be a tiny bit of play in the steering. If it rocks all around its almost always the bearing
Question, I only have a grinding noise when turning left and applying the brake. There is no play on anything when the car is up in the air, No grease leaking. I've checked pads they have even wear and lots of life. There is slight grooves on the front rotor where the noise is coming from. I recently had a new tire put on that front drivers side to. any advice would be appreciated
My moms car had the same issue, So I took it to the shop put it up and took the caliper off to find out that it was one of the inside clips that was rubbing on the rotor
I just gave my car for it’s 1 service with just 1000km driven. Prior to the service there was no sound. But post I received it there are huge squeaking/cracklings noise on braking , releasing brake slowly on a stopped car, turning steering right and left in a standing position, reversing etc.
Bye the way Gerard, nice tutorial !! Greetings from The Big Blaa.. That has to be the most obvious County Roscommon accent I have ever heard. So I guessed it was the bearing, was I right about Boyle, Roscommon because you sound like the actor Chris O'Dowd 👍😁
Thank you so much for this video ! My car has the same problem now I know what’s the problem. Thank you again for sharing your experience! I watch your video from Canada 😁👍
I have a 2004 Vue. my son just replaced the caliper on the driver side Sunday. last night three out of five left turns I heard a screech sound. what could it be and is it dangerous to drive?
Glazed brakes... The materials of the brakes have been heated & have hardened... Likely the rotors are compromised. Fine grain sand brake pads or change as well as change your rotors.
I'm having the same noise in my 2015 jeep grand cherokee and nobody can seen to diagnose it. I tell the dealers but they seem to say you need new brake pads and resurface the rotors
I have a 2021 Ford ranger and it started making this rattling noise from the front suspension, felt like it was right under my feet, it would make it at all times EXCEPT while accelerating. It’s under warranty so I booked an appointment with Ford 5 days from now. Yesterday while changing my oil I found the source of the noise. There is a plastic and rubber dust cover over the ram on the strut. The top plastic part was cracked and somehow rattling all about. I dicked with it….spun it around and shoved it up and down and it hasn’t made the noise since. Very very minor issue but it’s still going in to get a new dust cover…….hope that may have helped someone.
What is the indication for replacing the wheel hub and not just the bearings? I got my bearings replaced, the noise is mostly gone, only some subtle wob wob noise when turning right.
Yep my car load squeaks when I turn left and the left wheel feels loose. You can hear the calipers hitting dust plate occasionally I suspect the same issue. I never heard the bearing whining but I think its same issue.
I was driving about 45mph and hit a curve on the driver’s side and basically broke both left and right of the piece in your video. They told me that particular same piece in your I’ll need both sides and they replaced them and fixed it but now when I drive about 30mph+ when I slightly turn to the left there’s a noise on the passenger seat side front tire and it sounds like it’s metal touching another piece of metal and it only happened when going 30mph+
Great video . I have a Audi s5 Quattro . I have this very slight noise coming from passenger front , sounds like a slight hum / wind noise . Happens only after 20 mph and stays consistent , does seem to generate more slighter loud noise on rougher roads . Could this be a wheel bearing ? I’ve checked brakes , caliper rubbing etc and everything is free . I cannot feel any movement in the wheel itself up on a jack and it’s spins just like the other side tyre not making noise . Cannot pinpoint this but can a wheel bearing give out only a slight noise ? Thankyou
Mine does the same after new pads / rotors. Only thing i can imagine is the caliper . Rotors and pads push the piston completely open so basically the brakes are rubbing a little
Replaced it, also replaced rotors, brake pads and cv axel on both front sides but still get a sound when turning and feels like car will stop, it is a 2015 ford explorer.
I didn't really hear much, but always hearing some kinda noise, im hearing a clunking noise, when braking from the front, the pads and rotors are new,& the suspension in front, is about 6 months old, or so, but what u think?
The lip if my rim hit a curb Now there a light grinding noise when turning . What could this be everything by looking at that side with the wheel off looks fine .
So I know a little about cars and mine sounds like bad brakes in a way so I replaced them but it's sounds like a catching or rubbing noise when I turn or hit the brakes buy I do have a bad lower ball joint would you have a suggestion on what it is?

only noise I could hear was his mouth talking over what may have been noise.
Ong him talking is more annoying then the noice
@@Sunsetwithlotion change his pads :)
exactly, if he could stop talking for 2 seconds we might be able to hear the sound he is talking about

is that an area rug on the dash...
Was wondering what that noise was on my Chrysler 200s
If a cv joint is worn normally there is a knocking soundwhen you have it on full lock left or right and when it gets bad it knockes when in a straight line
If the problem is when you turn why keep driving straight took too long
Inner and outer cv joints.
So what would happen if you didn't bother fixing it?
It gets noisier and wears out quicker and eventually seizes up on the side of the highway, leaving you walking home.
Kobek is exactly right happened to me so I can verify.

So my wheel hub is causing this holy cow my surface for that assembly with the backing plate is corroding anymore tho I rock a 2005 wk1
Without watching the vid completely, it sounds like, and based off the symptoms, that related to stabilizer link/bushing

You checked your anti roll bar bushings they can click and knock
What if you hear a squeak while braking which is typical for brembos not heated up. But also when turning right, but not left?

What is it when you turn your wheel and you car slightly lift up
