  • @corrinflakes9659
    @corrinflakes9659 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

    It feels fitting to reach another boxmap or “dimension” using light, it's just an actual sci-fi trope.
    Stranger Things uses light to communicate between the Upside Down and “Rightside Up(?)”, Melia of Bionis and Nia of Alrest communicated through Light while pre-Aionios. And hey, that last example was made by a team that would have been programming TOTK.

    • @Starfloofle
      @Starfloofle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The moment someone else mentioned it was fitting that light was the only thing that could do it, that was my thought too. "Oh my god it's just like Xenoblade 3."
      The idea that there was no ""distance"" between the two; distance is used as a visual reference when in reality they were in the same place all the while on two different planes. That somehow light is the one thing that transcends those realities.
      Now... To be real, I think in *our* world the universal constant is gravity, not light. But that's a lot harder to represent in a cool sci-fi-y way. It doesn't carry the same powerful symbolism either.
      (Tangential; this isn't based on much evidence but I've had this nagging feeling for a *long* time that what we see as "dark matter" is actually something like this. An entire world (or more) that exists parallel to our own operating on a different "color" of matter that we born and made in this world have no means to perceive... but can observe the implied existence of because gravity is seemingly this universal constant...)

    In the older versions of TotK, there is a glitch that by overloading the game with indestructible fences (found from the construct factory) at the final boss, it is possible to corrupt the game's memory so much that you'll appear in the title screen room upon reloading your save. This is reminiscent to the "back in time" glitch in Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword, where when Link does the respawn sequence after falling into a void or continue after a game over, and resetting the console on a specific frame causes the game to respawn Link into the title screen.

    so, i remember messing with shader weirdness on emulation/modded switch, and while viewing only the world space normals and depth buffer, and trying to add 3-d camera offsets, i could see link's model in the main menu. so it very well may be that the camera itself is set to only have the map/world objects visible, and to that particular camera, all other objects are culled. since the dynamic lights still affect the world objects, it worked.
    in other words, if we could see the depth buffer or world space normals. we'd see the objects.
    fun side note:
    the depth buffer is honestly a very weird thing in totk. in most 3d games, the depth buffer is static, and the lightness/darkness we see in the buffer is directly linear to how far away the object is to the camera.
    but in totk, it's dynamic, and shifts constantly. sort of like high dynamic range, but for depth. i suspect that this is done to adjust object visibility and fog effects at varying distance, as the game needs it/calls for it.
