(UPDATE, Nintendo is releasing V1.2.1 - Testing has not been done yet but I recommend turning off Auto-Updates in System Settings if you are interested in these glitches just in case anything is patched, I will release a future video updating you guys if they break more things LMAO)
wa
I have version 1.1 on my switch (only because my switch auto updated my game while I was playing it(won't happen again)), so I have those old glitches and do them all the time. But I see that newer versions have their advantages... still not updating though lol
Yeah i saw that but I didn't update, i'll maybe do it if the glitches aren't patched
I never updated my version of TOTK because I don’t use the internet ever on my switch and so I am still on version 1.0.0, does anyone know of any easy dupe glitches for 1.0.0
in 1.2.1
"because when developers try to fix code, they often unintentionally break it in brand new ways"
as a professional developer, I felt that
@@oliveira2022-emCB an open world game on a huge scope like this won't be bug free even if you give them 10+ years for debugging. Unless it has some game breaking bug any common user can encounter, the game is good to go.
@@quemaindaseimportaem2023Not really, the game had a ton of polish and random bugs were very minimal.
All of the glitches exploited didn't just happen during normal gameplay as they require very deliberate steps and methods that don't happen on accident.
A single extra year or even a full decade longer wouldn't have done anything to prevent such glitches from being found because it took a mindset of thousands of players deliberately looking for methods to break the game to find them.
@@aether610i mean throw item dupe is pretty basic and even i could find it without any tutoriels. Now Mineru hold storage + cinematics skip and zonai dispenser storage ? Thats sum Harry Potter shit i cant find that on my own
I personally love the infinite height feature that Nintendo definitely added on purpose in 1.20
it's fun imagining rebellious programmers like "ruin their fun, will they? Wellllll"
@@KairuHakubi yeah. i love thinking that it was a rebellious programmer that added these but that's extremely unlikely
You meant feature, right?
@@ZalvadorZali Oh sorry. Glitch was a typo. I'll correct that immediately
1.20 is minecraft
It's crazy how many times companies can break a lot more things by trying to fix them
True
I mean this is true of any program. Squash one bug and many more scurry out, not just because you were able to find them, but sometimes your fixes create new, unexpected bugs.
The funniest thing for me is, the whole reason for "You can't take that out here" is a patch to prevent Breath of the Wild's menu overloading or the octoballoon duplication. If the core of the software is written badly, a patch rather than a true fix, is the best you can hope for.
That's programming with a time schedule that's too tight, for you.
It's not crazy at all, and anyone who knows even the slightest bit of programming will understand that.
It is insane how glitched this game is and that I never encountered a single one during my playthrough.
The only glitch that I encountered unintentionally was the crash in the house of bones. And it's still not patched in 1.2.1, so I'm not updating
@@James2210 Huh, I never encountered that crash and also can't find information on the internet and am now wondering what it refers to...
Me too. What?
You really need to try to find these glitches. The game was not released unfinished as many games do these days.
@@GreenEmperor true, it really is a great game since release
7:00 So Nintendo remembered how much we all loved the cape power-up from Super Mario World and gave us a way to relive the bounce style of flight! Thanks, Nintendo!
How ironic that 1.2.1 came out minutes before this was uploaded
I forgot to turn off auto update 😞
Yep, and they patched Midair Item Duplication -.-
@@oonrb of course they did. Now the glitch hunters will find another. I remember one for BOTW coming out 6 years after launch.
@@oonrbwell yeah. Their glitches. Their not supposed to be in the game. Any other game and the players would complain yet in this game they want it to be buggy.
@@nathanpfirman625 Skyrim.exe
Nintendo must have heard my feedback about totk not having as much cool movement tech as botw, so they added it in a new patch.
Good to see them wanting to improve their game.
Glitchless TotK already has more and faster glitchless movement tech than BotW *period,* glitches and all.
If only there was a version that could have every glitch from every version, then we wouldn't have to make compromises for any glitches.
That sounds like it would be an interesting challenge for a skilled programmer. Seeing how the glitches in the later versions stem from fixing glitches in earlier versions, I'm curious how difficult it would be to intentionally create the patch glitches without actually patching OG glitches.
Yea, I just tested the invisible item (smuggling) on 1.1 and it doesn't work. I can't even update to 1.2 because they pushed 1.2.1 minutes after this went live and I don't know what all they fixed in that version... So I'm gonna keep my easy to get dupes and such
@@rzezzy1 That's something I'd intend to try to do if I'm ever involved in game development. Also stuff unlocked after beating the game once like speedrun toggles that removes all cutscenes and text/dialogue so no one has to worry about what language is fastest they can just play in their native language, basically a debug mode that let's you practice certain things with different amounts of game progression, etc. Our speedrunner homies deserve a bit of QoL support for how fun and entertaining their content is, not to mention stuff like GDQ.
Possible with mods
@@MisterMusashi- Yes, same. I’d love to make a game that caters to speedrunners by putting all the patches for normal play behind a flag check, such that in “speedrun mode”, all the glitches are reenabled and all the cutscenes are skipped / shortened drastically.
Just in time for the 1.2.1 update!
😭
fuck
Just finished an infinite jump training section after watching the video and Nintendo patches smuggling in 1.2.1 😢
Thanks, good to know ! I've never seen someone talk about the patched glitch
Even duplication glitch is gone
😂
@@redring4083yeah
Aw man did they really patch it the moment this video came out?
I don't often use glitches or exploits in video games, but I've honestly enjoyed trying them out in this game. Some of the glitches I think are pretty hard for an average player but some of the techniques used in the speedruns seem pretty accessible which I think has made for this beautiful mesh of both the speedrunning community and casual players. Love the video Linkus
More or less same, here. I don't have totk, but botw is the only game I actively used glitches in, and something about it just felt correct.
Linkus: Uploads a video showcasing a bunch of glitches
Nintendo: Patches them all out the next day
🙄
I chuckle a bit when Linkus refers to the dispensers as dispensaries, because in the US, dispensaries are where you buy weed, which I guess works with the color scheme
And then they where all patched in 1.2.1
DUDE you explain so incredibly well. So detailed. I know one other TH-camr that also uses button prompts but now that the glitches are so easy we don't need them. Kudos.
I'm surprised the inventory is so glitchy given there is no reason to change it from breath of the wild bar zonal devices and fuse but that shouldn't mess with the core system just the items in it
When will Nintendo learn? You can never truly rid a game of glitches, the only glitches worth worrying about are the ones that would ruin the casual experience. Obsessing over speed running glitches just results in more glitches and potential to effect the casual gamer.
from my testing in 1.2.1 Smuggle (infinte durability bow, etc.) doesnt work anymore
When I try to change something to my codes, it also always breaks the rest of it.
The sorting inventory step is, ironically, faster if you sort in the pause menu between duplications rather than the Dpad menu.
Sounds like a classic form of someone trying to fix a problem by forcibly making the end result into the "correct" result, but not actually solving the underlying issues which caused the problem in the first place.
Yo I found a fall damage cancel glitch that I have tested up to 1.2.0 and all you need to do is shield surf a little before you hit the ground
R.I.P. Quick Smuggle. You will be missed 🙏
16:07 My guess as to why this works is that the wheels are building up speed because they can’t move, and it’s being transferred to the platform you’re standing on.
im not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but can you use the "invisible shield" glitch from earlier in the video with rocket shields too? whether by shield jump or just holding it out, does the rocket continue to work?
That's what I want to know to 😆 it would make getting up to sky islands MUCH quicker 😆
The problem I can perceive is that the rockets will still use batteries, so won't be truly infinite, although it seems like it would still be useful.
Doesn’t work tho
If it did it would be cool
I'm not on latest patch but i have an idea:
try the ultra hand big wheel movement glitch with a minecart, or an upside down cage from a bokoblin camp. those are the two objects which come to mind that have more favorable geometry, hopefully this makes the movement more stable and it can be maintained through collisions
Linkus, I don’t know if this is weird to say but your voice is so soothing to me. I find myself watching videos like this where you are just explaining stuff to fall asleep. You are my bedtime TH-camr
Your right that is weird it sounds like a love letter
@@-Yunya-True haha, kinda love confession
🏳️🌈? 🤨
Glad to see you’ve come along way man, I remember watching your streams back when botw first dropped and all the hype around Barrier skip, you really deserve it man can’t wait to see what else you accomplish
i found the the bow and shield glitches are fixed, i have tried multiple walls and bows and none if it seems to work anymore...
It genuinely seems like Tears of the Kingdom has become one of the most broken video games early on in its life ngl
Major glitches for BotW took much longer to exist afaik
---
Does anyone know whether smuggling would allow you to skip proving grounds shrines etc (I hate proving grounds shrines, and I've only personally done two of them, but with smuggling, I should be able to do all of them)?
I don't think you can call it broken if many people play it without issues. Glitchy, yes, but not broken.
Well my game just updated to 1.2.1 💀 What great timing
with the duping glitch at about 14:00 or so, it's possible to do it with a jump if you jump off of something the same height or higher than one of the common wooden crates, opening the menu right before you hit the ground
I used this in the fire temple boss fight (can't remember the boss name) to dupe diamonds in a throwing only run
mix pushing the mechanism with the wheels with the backwards smuggler jump
And now runners found a way to perform arrow smuggle fly in 1.0, which means the fastest version of the speedrun will have all these previously 1.2 exclusive glitches.
When you’re watching an old video of linkus and he uploads a new video :D
Wow what great timing seeing as most of these were literally just patched
Can you clip out of bounds to get on top of the invisible sky ceiling with that glitch?
As a programmer, I really appreciate that Linkus7 uses "patched" and not "fixed". There's a huge difference and a lot of people don't seem to know and/or don't acknowledge what it is.
To me, as a novice game dev, patched is basically leaving og code in and adding additional checks to ensure "proper" functionality, whereas fixed implies a reworking of the systems involved to ensure PROPER functionality.
@@a_d3mon Patched implies code was taken out or added and committed to a repository where all of the recent changes can be compiled as the current build or branched off for further testing. Fixed implies the programmer is arrogant and knows without a doubt nothing is wrong anymore.
@@a_d3mon Almost, not quite. A fix doesn't necessarily need to change the OG code. And what's "functioning properly" is subjective. But, for the most part yes.
To be precise (since you are a game dev and, thus, have coding experience), a patch(in terms of fixing software, which is separate from "software/security patch") is a change in the code to prevent someone/something/the state from reaching the bug in question as opposed to resolving the bug itself. This is considered a sub-optimal solution because of "attack vectors". There can be a lot of (potentially infinite) ways, and often unforeseen ways(as the bug itself was unforeseen), one can reach a bug and it would take an tremendous amount of work to cover all those vectors. Not to mention that the effort might be incomplete due to said unforeseen vectors.
Just to round out my answer, there have been incidences where code is not used properly/properly functioning, but its result is consistent, and hence, reliable and usable. In fact, most of modern web technology is based off of one such thing. XHR (XMLHttpRequest), the core to AJAX/asynchronous web calls was never meant to call non-XML content (as per the name). Other examples include homebrew'ing consoles as well as a famous fix back in the early 2000's to windows 2000/XP/NT that broke a lot of software because many programmers used a function beyond what it was intended to get what they want done.
What I wrote and what @a_d3mon wrote might sound the same, but the distinction is very important when writing software. For example, let's say there is an item in a game that's not working as intended or was never meant to be found/used (like the wind resistant railings in TOTK). One way to patch the problem would be to delete the item from the game entirely. Another would be to ensure that the item in question is unusable and/or immovable. This is important because neither of those solutions add in checks to ensure proper functionality and, depending on the circumstances, might be a better/cheaper/quicker solution than adding in checks, and hence, should be considered.
As a master of software engineering, there isn't really a significant difference between "patched" and "fixed". Bugs are fixed, and security vulnerabilities are patched, but both are accomplished in the same matter: investigate, repair, test.
For infinite height its better to go in the shoot animation and wait for the arrow count and then press y and repeat
the way you transitoned the invisible bomb glide glitch to the clip out of bounds was perfect, thats cinema right there
Good explanations, nice demos, not crazy long and rambly. Great job!
Me still on an old version: Fascinating-
the fact that nintendo just released 1.2.1 and glitch hunters got more stuff to screw is amazing, hope more gamebreaking stuff appears lmao
tell me, PLEAASE
my switch... reenabled auto updates for some reason???
@@prorandocopier7945yeah welcome to the 21th century
@@prorandocopier7945 that... is a massive oof
I think you have to go to Suishi here, probably best TOTK glitch hunter/collator, I've seen his vid on 1.2.1 glitches, thank goodness I didn't update the game, but horse duping still works
Just imagine these niche "invisible" glitches and how hard some of them are to do that mixes so many different things at once, each glitch is almost like... devs: "so wich part of link do we want to break first?"
There was an interview with Mivamoto around when Oot 3DS came out. The interviewer asked if they remived the glitches and stiff found by speed runners. Mivamoto said something like "No we want to keep al the fun experiences in amd enjoy seeing players break the game and find something creative that we missed". Now they patch everything before i get to try 😭
Now that I think about it, Link doesn’t even need a bow, he can just hold and throw the arrow.
Ah come on
Nothing works for me in 1.2.1
3:08 The jumps are so infinite, they got mentioned twice.
I love that this video goes up the same day as the new patch...
Really like the demonstration and walk through of the glitches!!
going from lookout landing to the speedrun clip area was smoooooth
Fan from depot glitch vs Lynels was patched.
Me: Oh well. Time for these lynels to experience brutal pain.
7:17 Hey, this is actually something I’m bummed I can’t do. But I think I’ll stay on 1.1, even though that bomb shield gliding looks so cool
Very well done and just in time for a new patch. Looking forward to 1.2.1 vids
BTW does the bomb flower/spring effect with the shield glitch also work with Time Bombs or no?
Hey linkus, I am still on 1.12 and the infinite height just with the “frame perfect” shield menu isn’t that frame perfect because you can just mash the button, either that or I am really fast, because I constantly use this glitch in shrines just for the fun of it to beat a shrine incorrectly
Hey, Linkus, it would be great if you have the controller layout that captures the inputs.
3:09 “infinite jumps…. Infinite jumps-“ lol
1.2.1 is just out... I can't wait to see what has been changed/broken with this new patch!
you can make your screen go bat-shit crazy if you spam stickers in one area and then zoom all the way out and click edit stamp. (not 1.2.1)
Very well put together man well done 👏
4:18 Darts added to the game to go with the sheikah ninja theme! Thank you Nintendo glad to see they listen ♥
I closed my totk once and forgot i had auto update on. I was devastated.
I don’t think he explained this well enough so here it goes: when doing the infinite bounce shield at the beginning you have to bounce, press r to dive, and then right before you hit the ground, immediately glide and then shield jump.
Can the new zuggling be used to keep an active shock emitter on an invisibile shield?
Do any of these work on 1.1.1? I'm on that version because that's when I turned off auto update
I turned off auto-update the day it came out. Sadly, they had already pushed the 1.1 patch, but it didn't fix anything, so I can do most of the og glitches. I REALLY want to test if these work on 1.1 😆
Edit: Smuggling at least does NOT work... I didn't test the others but that one makes me sad T^T
Umm so i dont know if this matters but if your equipment is 'invisible' when you get electrified it wont leave your inventory even if the "You dropped the ____" popup appears.
Question has the infinite shield jump been patched already? I can't do it in my own save :(
Duplicate doesn't work anymore on drop there's no drop option on newest ersion
there are even players who take advantage of reporting bugs because they believe it will break something connected in an advantageous way I know this happens in wow although the biggest example of this I can think of is the nocom exploit which supposedly happened cause a couple of players found a different exploit and realised that if it was patched in the most obvious way then it could turn into a much more powerful exploit and low and behold a couple of server crashes later and it was patched in the most obvious way
6:52 what version are you in, for the shield glitch???
huh 22 seoncds linkus you uploaded this amazing video at the incorrect time its way to early
can the infinite bow/weapon/sheild durability glitch be done on version 1.0 ? i don't really want to update the game.
Linkus - any movement glitches you suggest for 1.2.1? I literally booted up TOTK only to try this new infinite jump glitch, but it looks like I was too late
They patched smuggling 😭😭😭😭😭
7:18 Rail jets
You had to also show vendor scam and hydro clipping which are also extremely op and work on the current patch
Man became a professional bouncy boy too late. 😔
Hey Kleric
@@Xenado22 Hello~
So that why i update 2 patch on same time
i tried the infinite jumps and bounces glitches and the game got patched just after too lol
*Immediately dies
*Fairy revives
"As you can see I take less fall damage."
I followed every step but the now glitch doesn't work for me
11:06 You can go faster if you use the speed from the glide set.
Guys I tried the bow suggle and it did not work but I got into a state where I tried to sprint and it just tried to pull out my bow and then when I went to pick a object up I froze I child not do anything. I also realized that I could use by invisible bow but only just after I bought something
Soni wantet to play totk again but i saw a new update(note 1.2.0) is there anything i should know about it?
Good thing I'm not updating from 1.1 unless they drop a fire dlc that adds everything I feel is missing from the game like more enemies and better dynamics with NPCs and sages in the story. Either that or a dlc that makes up for the lack of stuff like that in another way
So Totk gave us the Knuckles Jump glitch again 😂
10:57 it looks like Link is scratching his side.
The invisible bow glitch will not work I'm on 1.1.2 so I don't know what is going on I tried it on 1.0.0 and it still didn't work can someone please help.
Linkus: **makes a glitch Showcase**
Nintendo : nah **patches totk**
I think I’m just bad because even the “super easy” glitches don’t work for me
Losing pocket rocket actually effected my life negatively, whenever I thought about TotK, the thought of not being able to pocket rocket made me stray away from the game. Even though it’s not the same, I feel so much better now. I thank these glitch hunters from the bottom of my heart.
use zonai devices more often, maybe stop abusing glitches, and then your gameplay experience will likely be better
@@goldstinger325Glitches are just advanced zonai tech. Maybe get good yourself
Or maybe how to enjoy gameplay should be left to the individual to decide, since this is a single player game, and glitch exploits that don't break the game affect only the player that chooses to use/enjoy them.
What is the earliest version for the glitched bow thing
The broke riling in the new version. Now it disappears when you use it in auto build.
1 update i was rly happy about was the durability not lowering when activating zonai devices that was soooo annoying
Wait, that update happened? That might just be the best update EVER
@@HungryWarden i meant when hitting non-zonai devices when activating but i feel like it works only on certain objects
Infinite jumps also works 1.1.2, you just achieve arrow smuggling using a different method
fingers crossed i can pull off the coordination for that dupe glitch
The duplication glitch works on the 1.2.1 version ?
Crazy how they created cat momentum in totk
