I have a 2004 SL500 with this exact noise. This is great information to check before replacing expensive components. The PS pump on this car is $2300!! You gained a subscriber!
Thank you so much for this video. My car makes that exact same noise and nobody could figure out what it was. This helped out so much. You’ve gained a new subscriber.
When it's first started there was a whining noise at idle, but on the second startup at idle, the noise was gone. But it's the same vehicle being tested in both runs. What happened? My 2006 E350 has the same whining noises as this one in the first test, and the PS pump pulley was loose and had noises when spinning.
I bought mine and heard a knocking noise and brought it back to the dealership and they said it’s the steering wheel box and it’s been there for 35 days now and I’m confused as to why it’s still not fixed. It’s a 2014 E class AMG 63.
Thank you for sharing this video I own 2008 c350 sport sedan The car was leaking oil from power steering hose so my mechanic replaced the hose and fixed the leak from crankshaft seal and put new pcv valve before doing the power steering hose the car was steering perfectly and smooth , now the steering wheel is hard to turn , i check the fluid was good and the pump was also not leaking since it was replaced before with oem part . i just saw the video of sps sensor which controls the sensitivity of speed to smoothen the steering wheel but i couldn't find the location of the sps sensor on the car please make a video a short video if you can . so i can fix this issue that will be very appreciate . cause i did all the services and now its very clean car only the steering wheel is stiff and tight on slow speeds . thank you again
I was having a chirping sound. I thought it was one of those idler bearings. I changed them one at a time. I changed all three. Still getting the chirping. I even changed the belt. Now, it makes a slightly different sound. As I watched the belt, as it would go around the pulleys. It seemed to have a whitish spot go by when it made the noise. The belt actually wore down a bit on the edge. You can see a section where the threads are showing on the side. I guess it's a defective belt. I wish I could attach a picture.

Поздрави от Варна!
I had similar noise on my minivan and it was the alternator
I have the same problem
This is the noise my car is making. Did a power steering fluid flush, changed the belt and noise is still there.
the noise is from the bad pulley (idk the name maybe crankshaft pulley?) so changing the belt did nothing to fix the issues i guess...
Have you found the issue?
Check your pulley’s
