You can! However if you haven't done it already, that clip which secures the res to the power steering pump on the M272 is a fair amount harder to access than on the M112. That clip is by far the hardest part of the entire job. Very straightforward besides that.
I like your video it helped me a lot and save me the money. Thank you for everything. There’s a best of the best a video of the presenting on the TH-cam‘s and I have my 2005 Mercedes-Benz G 500 the same thing on S 500 the engine model M113 the same engine but that’s a great video. Thank you. Looking forward to see more video from you.🎉
Thanks for your kind words and subscribing! The next episode we have in the queue are upgrading the battery on a jump pack and replacing the hood struts on a Mercedes. Stay tuned!🏎️🔧
Great video, I'm looking to do this to a s211 how much power steering fluid did you use as the good old Internet is giving loads of different information from 1 litre to 8 litres which is a huge difference
Thank you, this video was filmed on our wagon :) we used close to 2L. However, if you replace the filter before flushing, you might be able to use closer to 1L.
There's a lot of different opinions on this ranging from every 2 years to 100,000 miles. We would say every 60,000 miles to be safe. It's also a good idea to replace it if you are replacing the pump.
@@fatherandsonfix on W210, 100.000 km, year1996 we changed the oil and went from the original 345.0 green to 236.3 yellow because it looked more dark yellow when dirty. Everything bled correctly. Immediately after the change, I felt a much stiffer power steering than before. I thought it was because of the slightly more viscous oil. I swapped it back with Fuchs 345.0 green and the steering wheel is still noticeably heavier. I am now thinking of replacing the canister filter. What is your opinion ?
@@joesaric1 the price of these are not too much and worth replacing it as part of troubleshooting. it's not a guarantee that it will fix it, but you can rule that part out.
@@fatherandsonfix I think the filter could be the cause, especially after the thicker oil that got stuck in the filter and the pump probably has a harder flow. In any case, I have already ordered a new one and will report the result
Preventive maintenance, there's a filter inside, only way to replace the filter is to replace the reservoir. Some people say it quiets the pump, we didn't notice any major difference.
You can use the turkey baster to pull a little back out. The amount depends on temperature of the engine. 80 mark is for a warm engine. If you have a warm engine, you need to take a little out, probably not a big deal. If you have a cold engine and you are above the 80 mark, you definitely need to take some out. In general, overfilling puts strain on seals.
These steps generally apply to flushing the power steering reservoir on most vehicles. You should double-check part numbers and fluid specs for your CLK.
Great video. No fluff, no wasted words, or filler. Just straightforward instructions with good video.
Thanks for your kind words, we appreciate your comment.
Hey. I just bought the parts to do this on my 2000 E430 (w210 chassis) Really great video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. Great car with the v8 too!
This is a Master Class in both video and repair instruction.
Thanks for your kind words, we appreciate it!
Great vid. V helpful. Saved me buying a new tank when i saw the o-ring part no.
Hello, this is the best D.I.Y video I've seen for this job, thanks very much
Thank you for your compliment, we appreciate it!
Thank you! I'm going to change me PS fluid soon and I'm gathering useful info here and there, and this video is great indeed!
You're welcome! Thanks for your comment! We like your approach to research *before* the repair 👍🏼
very educative. Thank you regards
I will soon be doing this on my cls 55 when the reservoir arrive from MB. Thank you.
That's awesome, what a great car.
OUTSTANDING video. I have made a few videos myself, but this was superb. Really nice. Thank you. I am going to do that job NOW!!!
Thank you very much!! We appreciate your kind words and hope everything went well with your flush!
Great video ! Makes me feel I can tackle my 2006 e350
Thank you a little bit of patience and a lot of rags will go a long way! You can do it!

@fatherandsonfix thank you for your reply 👍🏼, I'll get the extra litre just in case lol
@@l8ton803how much did you end up using?
@@fatherandsonfixso doing the flush first ensures the new filter starts off with new fluid! Great, I think it's worth the cost of 2 quarts.
@@MrRjnr we totally agree, better giving it a fresh start to life! :)
does one have to be the O-ring seperately? What's the part number? Thanks! Great video
thank you! Part number is 0279979548 always double-check that your model or year applies.
Agree with the great comments!
I have the same system in my s350, do these reservoirs have filters in them?
Yes, that's why some people replace them.
When it is the time to change that filter tank ?
