    Are you experiencing annoying Engine Rotational sounds heard throughout the cabin, at idle, or during light acceleration? It may sound like the intake manifold is leaning on the frame, the high-pressure fuel pump leaning on the firewall, or the whole engine leaning on the frame or body of the car. It even may sound like body plugs are missing on the firewall? Watch this video as I diagnose and repair on my own with my "BEST GUESS" on what the issue could be. You may be surprised. I found the fix and the repair made a night and day difference.

    Great, I can see your detailed introduction on how to solve this noise problem. This noise has been bothering me for 3 years. After watching your video, I took the car to a repair shop to replace the engine mounts. I am from China and have been trying to repair it in the past few years, but the repair shop says it's normal noise, but I really hate this noise. I hope it can be resolved, thank you!

      Thank you for watching, I went through the same thing you did. I took my car to a professional Mercedes-Benz dealership and they told me it was normal. I did not believe them, then I took it to another very nice Mercedes-Benz dealership in the city and they also said it's normal. I did not believe them so I had to fix my Mercedes myself. I feel very confident your car will sound like new and will be nice and smooth and quiet 🤙👍👍

    Same here with the noise in the cabin. I have the c200 kompressor in Australia so the same design, just reversed for rhd. My rubbers are as flat against the mount as possible and after rebuilding the supercharger which, 2 mechanics, including a mercedes tech said it was, the noise remained..so now I. Convinced it is mounts. Cheers for a great video.

      Hello Lance, thank you for watching 🤙🙂, the sad thing is,, is I brought my car to 2 Mercedes-Benz dealerships here locally,, the first dealership said it was normal, and I drove for a month hating the sounds and noises, I then I brought it to a high-end Mercedes-Benz dealership near me and they also said it was normal...... I called bulshit so I had to fix the car myself. With simple tools and a hoist the job takes only about 2.5 hours. I wish you the best and I'm pretty sure your MB will sound whisper-quiet once you have new mounts. 👍👍🙂🙂

    Hi,
    Thanks for the great content very usefull!
    I have almsot the same problem on my manual w204 (c200d stage1), I wanted to know if your car also made a loud noise et big vibration when you Turned off the motor ?

    • @MotoTouringWorldWide
      @MotoTouringWorldWide  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hello and thank you for watching 😊. A manual w204 C200d is an excellent Mercedes. My car does not have a loud noise or vibration when turning off the motor, but I'm thinking that you may have an exhaust heat shield vibrating or a turbo spooling down?
      Do you have an automotive stethoscope? It is very cheap and will help locate noises. Here is a link to an example: www.amazon.com/Lisle-Stethoscope-Kit/dp/B0002SQYSM?th=1
      I would remove the black portion of the stethoscope so just the plastic tube is near the noise. The sound will travel and become "louder" to your ears the closer the "end" of the plastic tube is "nearing" the "noise".
      You will need someone to turn the car off while you listen and place the tube where you think the noise is coming from.
      I hope this helps with diagnosing the noise.
      Keep me posted on what you find. Have a great weekend. 😊👍

      Hello, thank you for your answer! After watching your video I changed the rear mount (of the gearbox) I started by this one because it was the cheap one, but the big (one time) vibration still here when I turn off my motor.
      I putted a full inox exhaust as the c63 with 4 piped about 3 months ago, but I don’t think it’s linked…
      I noticed on these last 2 days that when I drive really slowly it still does the strange sound but quieter and I feel the motor lifting a little bit around 2-2.5rpm, I guess it’s the big mounts.
      I’ll keep you informed when I get over this and hope my comments can help other people in the community ! Thank you

    U dont need to wait to sense such exessive "vibrations" to happen. When mild aging occurs, one can tell by simply sensing the steering wheel at idle with engine ON. I am hyper sensitive for these 3 mounts state of well being and 25,000km or 16,000 miles is my unpleasant limit for them as in reduction of super smooth behaviour. The higher the torque of the engine, example like my w212 E400 m276 turbo or others M278 V8 turbo, the more agressive one drive, these comfy mounts will loose its pleasure limit faster.
    If possible dont use lemforder, they are crap nowadays, stick to genuine MB ones.
    Left side mount usually suffer more, because engine rotation is clockwise if seen from main pulley.
    So left side engine mount get compressed while right side mount get lifted up under brutal kick down.
    Fyi my rear tires only last 12,500 miles from the way i accelerate, i dont do burnt out or anything of that silly sort, simply hard acceleration. Michelin pilot sport 4.
    Great documentation on the video, thank u.

    Hi there,
    Thanks a lot for your vid, I have had this noise issue on my C350 (2010) since getting it and became really anoying after a year or so of driving. I identified it coming from used engine mounts and seeing your video helps confirming my belief. Your vid is really straitgh forward, good shots and love to discover there are places like that garage where you can work on your own car. I am curious how much it cost you total and how many hours of work you put in for this, also wondering if you could send a link to the mercedes motor special tool? Cheers!

      Hello and thank you for watching. I'm glad you found this video useful. The noises were driving me nuts hearing all those sounds resonate inside the vehicle. Used motor mounts makes absolutely no sense, new motor mounts will make all the difference, don't forget the rear transmission mount since it's inexpensive and easy to do. The place that I rented the hoist charges $50 an hour and it took me 2.5 hours total to repair my own car, so I paid them about $125. I have used this location in the past to perform full services on the vehicle, such as the transmission service (takes 7.5 liters of fluid right way), spark plugs filters, rear differential, undercarriage cleaning and thorough self inspections. I have to admit I'm OCD with my car trying to keep it perfect like new, LOL. I wish you the best of luck on your project. Please report back on your results, we would love to know how your repairs went. Have a wonderful week. 🤙😊

    Hi, I have W212, have 100% same sound on acceleration, changed 2x engine and 1x transmission mounts as you did but still have that sound.. now I am waiting better quality transmission mount from Germany and also I'm doubting that sound also comes from bad drive shaft bushing.. what you think?

    • @MotoTouringWorldWide
      @MotoTouringWorldWide  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching 🙋‍♂️. If the noise is only there during "acceleration" and you do not hear the noise when in park OR neutral, and if you do NOT hear the noise during "deceleration" ,, and then only hearing it during "acceleration",, then I would be focusing on your drive shaft.
      Another test, (and be careful when doing this,) put it in drive, put one foot on the brake, and give it some gas, but not too much, (nobody in front of the car), do you hear the noise in drive with some load on the engine?
      Is yes the problem is under the hood or the exhaust is leaning on something,,,,, if no noise I would focus again on the drive shaft.
      Once you have the car fixed keep me posted cuz I'm sure curious now 👍🙋‍♂️

      @MotoTouringWorldWide  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello and thank you for watching. A good mechanic should be able to complete the job in 2.5 hours if you have a 4 cylinder. If your car is a 6 cylinder it is more difficult to remove the right motor mount and will add maybe an extra hour. I'm guessing labor will be around $500 for a 4 cylinder and $650 for a 6 cylinder. Please let me know if I'm off or pretty close. (it took me 2.5 hours to replace on my car and it was my first time). Thanks again and best of luck. 🙋‍♂️😊

      Hello and thank you for watching. What year is your car? If your car has the "same" noises and vibrations like in my video, I would definitely start with the engine mounts and rear transmission mount "first". You mentioned that the "throttle" shakes too, is this while looking at the engine with the hood up and the engine at idle? You may have 2 different problems that need to be taken care of.

    • @MotoTouringWorldWide
      @MotoTouringWorldWide  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, that clunking noise was not an issue on my car. You would have to have really collapsed motor mounts to hear bumps on the road. Usually, clunking sounds will be bad suspension ball joint or bushing, loose skit plate, or broken exhaust hanger. When you put your car in reverse or Drive, do you have a clunking noise? If yes, then you may have a bad rear transmission mount?

Yes, these are very easy mounts to remove and can be done from the bottom with no special tools. But the tool is good to have for most all projects. This SHOP is called STEW'S Garage. Here is the video link: th-cam.com/video/QSVs0BeklfE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hsoXawBZ7_yVyYkb They have 13 hoists that you can rent by the hour. However, they rented out all the hoists for 6 months to the Rivian EV Truck company. So at the moment, you can not use a hoist when needed which is really interfering with my need to "Self" maintain my vehicles. Thanks again for watching. 🤙🤙🙋‍♂🙋‍♂

      @@skippyone3085 ,, ok, I see now what you're dealing with. I have heard the V6 engine mounts can be a pain in the ass. I'll keep my eye out for you and hopefully find something 👍. Hopefully you don't have any rusty exhaust bolts to further complication. All I hope you have access to hoist because doing this on the ground can be painful.

      Hello and thank you for watching. Yes I did and totally forgot about this weird sound & vibration at around 68 to 72 MPH. It was a plastic type of fluttering type vibration and I haven't heard it since the new motor mounts. After the repair, my ears have been enjoying piece and quiet. Be sure to inspect that rubber flap as in seen in the video and make sure it is not touching the lower part of the mount. It is a sign that it is worn out. I hope you have luck with your car 👍😊

      @@MotoTouringWorldWide yea it’s like it would get into 7th gear and hum my c250 is a year older than yours and has double the mileage so it’s a lot worse but I knew that we had the same issue from that hum at idle

      @@kidfoodieusa3806 ,, I forgot to mention the rear mount too. With your car having double the mileage,, I think you should seriously consider replacing your 3 mounts if they have not been done. I'm actually very surprised that Mercedes-Benz engine mounts failed on my 2014 so soon. I Read other posts online about how the car is smooth like butter after replacing all the mounts.

      64,000 miles. But keep in mind also 9 years old. (9 years of engine weight also compressing the motor mount too)
