If they removed the overrated BS, and any other questions that trash others, I’d be for it. But as is, I don’t want my guys taking part. Just my personal opinion.
You wanna criticize people, do it with your voice and your face out there. Otherwise, keep it to yourself. Some guy batting .180 with 6 RBIs calling Jaz or Bryce or whoever overrated is just weak to me.

4:51 less games equals less revenue. There are less people at the gates, less people spending money on concessions, less commercials being sold on tv. Maybe, you would get more tickets on average sold at some of the smaller markets that don’t do well so it would be less of a hit to them but their revenue share would be less from the big markets. The owners would make less money off the product so they in turn would pay people less. No where in life do you ever get more for less. You fooling yourself if you believe that.

Elly is very streaky. His big plays are electric but they're scattered between some rather cold stretches. Still, he's hitting pretty well for a shortstop overall (wRC+ of 117) and he's ranking as a plus defender with his cannon of an arm coming along. I think some of it is he plays with the attitude of a superstar but he's only a superstar for moments at a time. His game hasnt caught up to its hype, but it may well do so so the hype continues.

148 games would be good. What about back to the 154, even? 8 more off days is about an extra day a month. Wouldn't kill bullpens as much, rotations could stick to 5 far more often. Guys get a little extra rest, so everyone is more fresh and we get a more consistent good product.

I 100% agree the season is too long, and 148 feels like a good number. If the league really wants a better product and reduce injuries across the board, which I believe would lead to more popularity and income overall. Records with only 14 less games would normalize after a few years, especially with players actually playing a higher % of the games. Rarely does anyone actually play 162 games in a season. There really isn't a good argument for not reducing the number except the owners greed.

The other thing about converting from a 162 game season to 144 game season...the amount of player games wouldn't go down by all that much. Rotations almost never see all 5 guys pitch 130 innings throughout a season, those extra off days would just mean the starters start about the same amount of games and they'd need to plug in fewer call-ups to fill out the season. A total of 76 guys played in over 144 games last season out of the ~700 position players, we don't have the Ripken type ironmen in baseball anymore anyway.

    • @reggae-rock-roots
      @reggae-rock-roots 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Oh absolutely. But that's one of the reasons why it's stupid - in any area of life - to judge people from the past based on modern criteria. His comments about Babe Ruth were more charitable to that notion, probably because his career was 60 years prior to Maddux's. But the reality is that, just because Maddux wouldn't have got the strike calls on many of his pitches from the 90s in today's game doesn't mean that Maddux would have stubbornly continued to throw balls 8" off the plate and expect strikes to be called. He'd have approached the game differently. Just like Ruth would have had to approach the game differently if he had been surrounded by other players that were reaching their full potential.
The greatest players in the game's history were great because they figured out what to do to stand out from the crowd in the era in which they played. And there is no evidence that, were they to play today, they wouldn't figure out how to do precisely the same thing.
So, comparisons across time are fundamentally flawed, and that fact is obvious, making anyone who is particularly opinionated about it pretty foolish.

That was a big part of their talent. That being said, I still thinks it's absurd to expect people to do that now because they had incredible command that only a few people in history ever had. Only pitchers that hit their spots on every pitch can pull that off.

Of course they’re opposed to a salary cap, because then they’d get less money, and the results from other questions on this poll clearly indicate that’s all players care about. (Even though they’re all massively overpaid as it is)
Not having a salary cap means the big market teams will always have an advantage. It’s created a league that is quite literally pay to win. Whoever has the most money wins, and it’s usually the Yankees. 🙄

I think the response to the season length has a LOT to do with the quote coming from Rendon who has not played 30 games in a season since he signed his fat contract..
No one wants to agree with that guy.....even if it benefits them or makes them look better..... the question would have gone better if it was an unassociated question

Is it fair to say though that the Rockies don't value analytics (pitching side of it that is) AS MUCH because of the unique circumstance of Coors Field? You said it, Free agent pitchers are not constantly knocking on the door to come to Colorado I assume cause of the altitude which means the Rockies have to basically rely on home grown talent in pitching or struggling pitchers looking to maybe revive their careers. I dont think the stone age quote is a fair one but i definitely understand it 😂😂

#12 is infuriating for fans. Without a salary cap/revenue sharing of some kind, its the crappiest of the pro leagues. Now its just bigger cities = more money.

i'm a reds fan and love elly but...yeah. people treat him like he's already a finished product. one of the best players in the league. he's definitely not that yet. it seems like he can get there, but who knows? he strikes out A LOT. he makes a lot of bad decisions in the field and commits a lot of unforced errors. he's got a lot of stuff to work on. it's gonna be very sad when he leaves the reds and becomes THAT GUY on another team.

"There's less money being paid to all the players total" in regard to a cap seems a whole lot like something that would lead to more parity and less stupidly huge contracts. Lower overall average team salaries would make the league more competitive. In a prior video you said you would need to play 5 games a day to justify 30 million but now say that more money good? For players maybe, not for fans who see everything around their teams becoing more and more expensive to participate in while the price of milk and bread gets inflated beyond affordability.
Also O'Neil Cruz should be on that over rated list.
