Let's Talk Tuesday goes to the movies, as we chat with President and CEO Tracey Todd, and House Museums Curator Mary Edna Sullivan, who will tell us about the filming of The Patriot at Middleton Place National Historic Landmark.
We won't just be talking about the garden party scene (featuring the terraces at Middleton Place), we'll delve into some truths and myths that are perpetuated in blockbuster films surrounding the theme of American Independence. We'll also consider representation within the film; where enslaved people can be seen, and how historic characters are portrayed to a general audience, to fit the heroes and villains narrative of the movie.
