Inglewood is a huge cemetery. Maybe he didn't have time so had had to post a second video. The largest I've been to is Colma, where some of my relatives are buried. Odd but true: my cousin took me to her grandfather's grave. To his left: the person buried there died on the day he was born! I found it unbelievable that two strangers share a date: one is born and the other dies and in death, they both are buried side by side in one of the largest cemeteries in the country. They are not related to each other.

Big Mama Thornton is buried in an indigent grave with those 2 other people. There is a man who is trying to have her buried alone or at least give her her own stone. She died living in a boarding house. She is such an important part of rock and roll history she deserves better.

18:48 A bit out of the subject of celebrities here, but for anyone whose eyes were in anytime caught by the “gleaming” golden etchings to the left, that is the grave of WWI pilot (2nd Lieutenant) Harold Forbes Maxson. Three months before the war would end, he & a cadet were doing scouting training off the New York Coast when their plane’s engine combusted. Though Maxson managed to steer the flaming aircraft away from the ocean in the attempt to make an emergency landing, the two would unfortunately give the ultimate sacrifice when they crashed into a hayfield. 2LT Maxson was 22. He & his fiancée Mary were slated to marry on what would instead be the day of his funeral.

Also found in the Mausoleum of the Golden West is Lawrence Phillis, arguably the greatest talent to ever wear a Nebraska Cornhusker football jersey.
He, unfortunately, had very adult problems which often manifest from the kind of abusive and neglectful childhood he sadly endured.
You can learn more about him from the Showtime documentary, Running For His Life: The Lawrence Phillips Story.
I hope he has found peace ♥️
(Oh, and thanks for remembering Juanita Moore)

Interesting to see the graves of LaWanda Page, Floyd Dixon, Richard Berry, Big Mama Thornton, Cornel Gunter and Patrice Holloway who is also the little sister to Motown legend Brenda Holloway who first sang, You've Made Me So Very Happy.

It's always such a joy to find one of your videos has been posted. You know I loved your first visits to these spots because they brought back performers I had gotten to know over the years - either at the movies or (usually) when they ran the old films on television. These second visits are introducing me to people I hadn't known before and their wonderful music! I had never paid much attention to R&B music before and right now I can't wait to find some great compilation albums that would allow me to get to know them even better. (If anyone knows of any good ones, let me know!) Thank you so much Arthur - for bringing them all back to us!

The flowing statuary if Lillian Lietzel and partner is very impressive. The broken trapeze ring is a nice touch. Wondering if the artist/sculpture has any other works in other graveyards. Your relating of her husbands demise is a good reminder that there were tabloid stories being told long before, well, tabloids.
