    WB needs to lean into the fact that they can corner the market on R rated superhero movies. They have the perfect cast of characters for it, plus it would allow them to stand apart from the MCU and offer audiences something different.

      It will also allow to be nowhere near as big as the MCU. You will never capture MCU style box office returns with a movie that kids are not allowed to watch. Even if a R rated movie makes a billlion it would have still made more if it were available to a wider audience.

      Actually, I would say she was the weakest of the main cast of important characters. Heck, she didn't even feel like she was in the movie much, it was almost like she was written in at the last second she was gone for most of the movie, and even when she returned she only had some small romance subplot with some dude for a few minutes lol until the climax. I was actually surprised at how little of importance she was, honestly if she was left out the movie would have run smoother.

God, why did Peacemaker have to turn out to be such a douche? Things were going well, everyone was looking alright, but no, Peacemaker has to ruin it. And his character wasn't even that much of a jerk earlier, just comic relief before. Sure, the fight between him and Rick was a good scene, but it didn't have to end like that, did it? Oddly enough, I'm kind of glad Peacemaker survived, even if he's a douche. But he should definitely apologize to the team, and ESPECIALLY to Ratcatcher 2. And until he does, he'll always be a joke and a douche. Beacon of freedom, my ass! Seriously. What kind of supposed "hero" points his gun at a young girl? After Col. Flag explained that they were experimenting on kids, Peacemaker should've put the damn gun down, and started helping Flag and the others STOP the giant kaiju starfish! Seriously! I'd think a massive killer space starfish would be MORE IMPORTANT THAN A STUPID flash drive!!! Glad Bloodsport shot him. Peacemaker is damn lucky he didn't get killed. And the funny thing is, I'm actually a HUGE fan of John Cena, as a wrestler and actor. But he's not above criticism. Nobody is. Honestly, I didn't like Amanda Waller actor in the first movie at all. I never bought her as intimidating, it was an obvious act. In this movie she was far more believable, tho I wouldn't go as far as say its perfect casting. But we dont have actor who could portray Waller very well, at least I cant think of one. Cena was great though, I totally bought him and his motivation, its a villain who really believes that he is a hero in his story, great performance and writing. This movie was great, during first act I was stunned how much I was loving this, second act drops off and it lowers my initial 10/10, but third act picks it up again. But at the moment we got Kaiju attack, I really was wondering where the F is Superman at this point, though Snyders Superman probably a fan of mass destruction and murder (yes, I am still salty over Snyders fuck ups...)

      Amaan khan the javelin was supposed to be THE weapon of choice for someone in a super powered squad. I just assumed it had some special properties that make it different from bullets. Not to mention how sharp it could be as something to add. It’s possible that it is a small plot hole , but I think it’s the symbolism of the javelin that kinda works for me when thinking of how THAT pierced the eye when other weapons couldn’t. Like how before they began fighting Starro, Harley goes “I found the reason why I have this javelin” or something of the like. It wasn’t particularly the physical properties of the javelin that defeated Starro, but the symbolism it represented that defeated him. I don’t think that’s overthinking it. It feels pretty intentional. Feel free to tell me I am over analyzing if you think so.

    • @Hollowdarling
      @Hollowdarling 2 ปีที่แล้ว +253

      They spoke about it awhile back, they're focusing on stand alone stories going forward. There isn't a overarching plot leading into anything. They are gonna world build still within each film, so characters can crossover or spin off into other films but the stories will be self contained. And there still will be cross over films like The Flash.
      But this imo is for the best this is what will make them stand apart from MCU. Marvel focuses on interconnected stories between there films to tell a bigger plot, while DC will instead just tell do their own event movies within a stand alone narrative.

The female characters also dont have to pretend to act like men to be considered powerful and 'feminist". They'are all their own fun characters, are allowed to be vunerable, fun, serious, and have any emotion they want, because that's how people are in real life. And Disney still doesn't get that with their female heroines.

      And that Rat living at the end was Gunn's finger at the cancel culture for cancelling him. Seriously, why else would he let the character that killed 43 or whatever children, come back to life at the end of the movie? He wanted to trigger them again but he's untouchable now. He can go back to his crude sense of humor involving kids. I don't get that or the whole anti-America bs, that's going to make the rest of the world go wtf or get cheers from China and other socialist countries. I found the movie predictable af in almost every scene. The overly gratuitous violence and how he changed pr killed every character from the last movie except for Harley was also a statement. I never thought he should have been cancelled, and still don't, but this movie, as good as the fx scenes, really sucked. Like who knew Harley could jump straight up about 10-15 feet and these nano-tech scenes that kinda started with Starlord's character then Ironman and now Deadshot weapon is such a Hollywood short cut in every scene like how much a world would change with that kind of tech around, yet he breaks the bullet proof helmet crashing into a wall without even a cut? I mean seriously, this guy sometimes writes a scene like a 12 year old fantasizing. I could on and on about this movie I was so looking forward to seeing and I'm sorry, it felt ugly and juvenile trying to joke in every scene and again with Harleys scene screwing that guy and killing him about what he said about killing children, yet she didn't mind the child killing weasel? Also, what was the point about the big guy with glasses looking up at Waller, everytime someone mentions harm to children, but never ends up doing anything until someone else knocks her out. She killed them all in the last movie but let these live and get herself bribed to free the squad, who won't let the world hear the truth they just risked their lives for and Harley Quinn was the moral one against not using it? Yeah right, like she would give a hell, either way. If she really cared enough to kill a guy she just loved to bang, yet not release the info that her friend died trying to break the rules to do what's right, yet they use it to go free as if he somehow got that hard drive info to someone to secretly hold it right after the battle in s small country that just got torn up and murdered by a giant starfish from a SpongeBob movie. I don't get how so many people rave about this cartoon bs movie. He must have not had alot of control over how Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 was written except for the great song choices. I just now watched it and I have no desire to ever it again. If he comes back to Marvel, I hope they keep whatever control they had in making another Guardians movie. Just tell a cool story and keep political and cultural messages out of it. So yaah, the cute, hairy weasel that nobody ever heard of killed or ate almost 50 kids lived and is free now, what a cool end scene. I bet y'all are excited about him catching whatever kids that survived their town massacre, woo hoo, YEAH, you tell them Gunn, it's ok to make the sickest jokes.

      i agree w/u when u say 'it's a movie better enjoyed w a group'. i watched it alone & the whole time i was thinking - my friends should be here. BUT not because i thought the movie was great or anything. Overall i'd give it a C+. Not exactly what i'd call a 'good' movie, but certainly above average & entertaining enough. To me this flick felt like almost two films in one - 1st) a more fun reboot of the 2016 SS. 2nd) kind of felt like Guardians of the Galaxy 2 & a half(i can't b the only 1 out there who sorta feels like certain ideas in this movie were just things Gunn decided he wasn't going to use in GotGv3 - right?). There was also some some writing that left me puzzled - like when Black Guard sells out the team... wouldn't Waller just blow his head off? However, i really don't wanna bash on this film because i thought it really did have some heart. The casting was great. I felt that the core SS team members who were in most of the movie were endearing. I thought Elba & Cena played well off each other. Robbie was spot on as Harley again. the running gag w Polka Dot Man & his mom was fun. Rick Flagg was way more likeable this time around. The breakout characters IMO were for sure King Shark(towards the end of the movie i really was starting to worry that he was going to be killed) & also Rat Catcher 2 provided a welcomed innocent charm. And i'll say that my favorite line in the movie was - "There's a freakin kaiju in this bitch!!!". What did u guys think?

    I loved that for a violent movie it wasn’t too violent, it didn’t take every single chance it had to be violent. The best thing about it by far is that every choice that made throughout the movie by the filmmaker is the right choice. James Gunn really knows what he’s doing, not only with the content, but he knows exactly when to have comedy, when to have heart, when to have an action scene, how to have tension build between characters, how to use the budget and in what shots to blow money lol he reignited a spark for me to get re-invested in the dc universe or at least have hope for the future lol the writing for this is impeccable. Everyone had enough screen time. The cast was really good. The plot was insanely cool. Everything about it works.
