    I've found a lot of brass libraries are missing that low end you want from a grand brass library, only close ones I could find are Metropolis ark, which sounds really muddy from how much is going on. Spitfire's brass is simply awful to use in my experience, has a lot of high end noise that doesn't sound too realistic. Cinebrass has the most realistic sound I've used so far, it's just prefect and majestic.

    I feel like the legato in Cinematic studio brass is unmatched and will be for at least a few years. The 4 horn patch is just sublime. With that said, the sound of Cinebrass is very tough to beat, it absolutely nails that hollywood sound and the room fits PERFECTLY for the instruments recorded. It's a purpose built scoring stage so it better be hahah. Overall still holds up great and the legato is good enough.

    The solo horn in the CORE library is still the best on the market, IMO.

    Thanks for the review here! As a long time session player in LA for years I appreciate this and agree. I do a lot of my own sections in my studio here, which is really fun!

      @@ChristopherSiu I deleted this from the timeline on your 2nd vide. I just grabbed this Library after all I went with the Pro. "So just bought the Pro Library Almost downloaded in 45 min. Much faster that OT was at 37GB for Ark 5-:) One thing I have noticed in all of the major libraries I use, whether it be Spitfire, 8Dio, CSS,(don't have but have used at another composers studio), Audio Imperia, etc. etc. is that it helps to kill some of the honk in the mid range at around 500k say -3db, which is were the ear starts to hear a change, but do it to taste. It helps it to be more creamy IMHO,

    Great video Christopher! I bought their brass only last year and my goodness it’s incredible! It’s the classic agile John Williams brass and just sounds bright, snappy and powerful! As for upgrades, I had a quick chat with Cinesamples over the festive period and any existing NKS products are upgraded for free, and libraries upgraded to NKS will carry a $20 upgrade fee which covers the encoding, library improvements and new GUI. It’s really cool they are upgrading older libraries as I’ve found myself using gems such as Drums of War again! :) can’t wait to see what they come up with in 2022!

    Christopher, I have been using Cinebrass collection for the last 10 years (ever since they released them). I absolutely love all of them, and I use for all my productions (for the big sports arena pre-game shows). In the mix they sound magnificent and authentic. No reason for me to "switch" to another library, or augment (perhaps I should ? Please advise). It has absolutely all articulations across the entire range, legato sounds believable, round robin is solid great ! Good presentation.

    Though it maybe be simple and light on features, Cinebrass just has 'The Sound'. That sony brass sound thats so classic, others come close but nothing quite sounds like Cinebrass. I also think their default mapping is really great, not always for playing but for editing its so fast. No bouncing between tracks or scrolling down to find keyswitches, just adjust some velocities real quick and you're good. Arguably less fiddling than other libraries.

    I think, like Damage, and Jennifer Aniston, this iconic library has got a LONG way to go before ever being replaced. I also personally feel, just like Damage the samples blend and react to fx processing in ways that newer brass libraries just don't do, that make it a must for epic trailer music. Thanks for the video and Happy New Year!!

    This is my favorite because of the articulation patch. You can switch very quickly and it lets you write in ways you otherwise wouldn’t have. Maybe other libraries sound more realistic, but I love the way that this inspires you in different ways than other libraries.

    • @-Meric-
      @-Meric- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of other libraries let you do this too! Not out of the box but Berlin Brass for example with Capsule or SINE lets you do velocity-based articulation switching as well.

    I have CineBrass Core. It’s pretty good for the sound it’s trying to achieve. My main issues are that I can’t find a Logic Articulation set file for it (everyone tells me to make my own…) and that the 1/2 note articulations end instead of going on as long as I want them to. I want to use 1/2 notes for long notes sometimes because the legato notes have such a different timbre than the short notes. I’m still new to this and there must be things I don’t quite know.

    • @ChristopherSiu
      @ChristopherSiu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just use the default mapping to be honest haha!

    Was very interested to hear the verdict here and seems many people agree that this library works. It’s the only library I still use from cinesamples right now.

    I own Cinebrass, but I wish I purchased EW Hollywood Brass back then - I think that the french horns in that library are the best when composing for epic stuff...

    Annoying that the A3 note in the legato trumpet patch is out of tune meaning I can't really use it. Otherwise it sounds pretty good.

    Chris have you tried the original first release of Cinebrass? Before they changed it to Core and Pro? That version has the best legato imo. With the solo horn especially.

    Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful, in deed.
    I'm used to using spitfireaudio libraries, and CineBrass Pro's articulation style is SO different than BBCSO, for example. Question... What's the reasoning behind the multiple articulations loading into one instance (I'm not sure if that's the right expression?). Doesn't that just take more RAM?
    Thanks in advance for your help 😊.
    K

    • @ChristopherSiu
      @ChristopherSiu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could say so - on the other hand, it takes less patches overall to give you more articulations, so it's a give and take. I prefer having more articulations on one patch and keyswitch as needed, rather than loading up separate articulation patches and filling up my template.

    yes Christopher, they will do a free update for everything symphonic,they even revisited the samples to make them more up to date,other changes are the UI and scripting,so i guess it will be on par with newer libraries,and its free for existing users

    There are many libraries, some pretty old, that are and will always be useful.
    Use what you like and what sounds good to you. Don't fall into the trap that the latest is the greatest.

    I didn't like it when it was new. Infinite Brass all day long these days. Even Modern Scoring Brass beats Cinebrass because of vastly superior workflow and flexibility - even if the samples are only slightly better. Cinematic Studios seems to be hitting it out of the park and Audio Imperia is a trumpet section away from a 10/10 Brass library. And yes, tons of composers have used Cinebrass on songs I like. Just never sounded good on my stuff.

    Considering NF and Tommee Profit used CineBrass Pro for his brand new song HOPE I can say with absolute certainty that it held up very well. The song HOPE is amazing!
