I Tried to Cut My Own Hair BLINDFOLDED: th-cam.com/video/grnKfY4MfLE/w-d-xo.html More tips: - Don't cut your hair with a shirt on like I did. You have 10 years experience cutting your own hair and you admit at the beginning you messed it up, guys please don’t cut your own hair unless you’re willing to fail. 8 Out of 10 years he failed. Be confident lol
Pro tip for people who are worried about not having a perfect fade or having lines in their fade: they go away in like 2-3 days so don't stress over it. Your hair grows irregularly enough that any sort of lines just disappear with a few days of growth.
I’m a girl and got my hair cut short almost 3 years ago. Every time I self cut my hair, it’s never the way I want it to look and the tutorials online just were never enough to make me confident enough to cut it “right”. But this video was a game changer and I watched it like 20 times and finally tried it out. By far the best cut and the best tutorial. So happy I came across your channel and this video! Keep it up!
Hey man, just wanted to thank you so much for making this tutorial. Hands down this was THE tutorial that made the most sense out of the countless quarantine self-cut videos out on youtube. Thanks for taking the time to NOT fast-foward past any parts, and for clearly labelling which guards you were using, etc. Finished my cut just now and gotta say I'm pretty happy with the end result. For everyone watching the video, just a few comments: 1) take your time with the cut. DON'T RUSH, and when in doubt, cut less than more -- you'll always have more time to fix it later 2) you don't need the exact guards he's using. I only had standard wahl clipper guards 1,2,and 3, and that was good enough
I cut my hair using this tutorial and it turned out great! I’ve gotten so many compliments and have had a bunch of people at work ask me where I went to get my hair cut 😂 I’m going to keep doing this even after barber shops open back up. Thank you for the great tutorial dude!
I'll admit, this was my first time cutting my own hair and the whole covid situation has obviously closed down my barber, I was scared shitless to cut my own hair, after watching this vid and actually doing it i'll admit I did A LOT better than I originally thought i would. Thank you so much for the vid!
@@Vastfill yup i sport a mohawk now, been growing it out for about half a year, planning on trying to get it long enough to braid down the center of my head

Dude, this is the main tutorial that got me cutting my own hair. It's really clear, enjoyable, thorough. I've been cutting my own hair for two and a half years now an have gotten pretty good at it. I wouldn't have got there without your vid man, thanks a lot!
Have used this video about 5 times now, messed up the first time by trying to follow the steps from memory, but after following it exactly the 2nd time it was a great success, this has worked great for both myself and my son ever since. Getting faster and faster at doing it.
This is THE best/most helpful video I've seen about doing a self fade! I appreciate you took the time to literally show every step rather than give a brief explanation then doing that fast forward edit people do. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Just want to echo the above. I've watched loads of these and your technique is good as it doesn't leave lines. It's very logically thought out. Will use on my next attempt!
I saw this yesterday as I really needed a haircut. I decided to give it a try and your instructions were perfect. To be honest, I gave myself the best haircut I've ever had. Thanks man!
I just followed your tutorial while cutting my own hair, and it turned out to be great for the first time ever. It look great on both sides but on the back it kinda show some cut mark, but it fine. You really helped me a lot, I was so scared while holding the clipper but in my mind, I followed what you said and I just have confidence and do my best shot, and it was great after take a shower. This is definitely the best experience for those who are thinking of cut their own hair. Thanks a lot @Jensen Tung
I had my wife cut my hair and it went well, all things considered. I normally get a low taper fade, with .5 on the sides and 8.5 up top. My wife, bless her, had such a hard time understanding that the taper fade line goes above the ears and then dips down on the back of the head. She wanted to leave a line evenly around, kind of like a bowl cut! She's gotten a lot better though as she now can use the comb to blend the fade better 😊
Your comment made me laugh as I did the same thing as your wife! “So the line doesn’t go straight across the back of your head??!” Oh man. Glad she’s gotten better! I certainly haven’t!
Oh man. It took me like two hours to cut my husband's hair because I didn't know what I was doing / nervous as heck, but I followed along with this tutorial and it helped immensely. Thank you!!!!
Hey, Korean guy here, typical fro-ey Asian hair, but on the thinner side too (not balding, just really thin and soft hair lol). I followed your video for the first time about 5-6 months ago and I was really happy with it. Barber shops opened back up since then and I got my hair cut again at the Korean hair salon since, but I decided to try cutting it myself again today. Of course the first thing I did was refresh myself with your video! I don't do an undercut like you, but in any case, I just wanted to say that the "ruler" trick is probably the best advice ever for cutting our own hair (especially Asian fro hair). I think that was the key to making the fade look good, especially for our type of hair. We also just had a baby who's now getting close to 1 year old and I used the "ruler" trick on him too, and my in-laws asked if we had his hair cut professionally 😂😂😂. So anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the video! Great advice.
Best diy video I've seen. Just gave my self the best haircut ever with some changes- Use a Conair even cut to set max length on the 'yamaka' after setting the low fade with the number 1. You go in circles and get a defined back and sides look, then start blending with number 2. It helps to keep the 'mulch' out of the way when fading with attachments 2 through 4. Then I use a Phillips one blade to fade the front/side and fade that into the side-fade, and to clean the line around your ear and the back bottom line with a mirror. Hard to explain but if you have all three types of trimmers you can probably follow what I mean. Only practical use I ever found for the conair evencut. It's. Avoid blender but DO NOT try to cut your whole head with it. You'll end up just 'number onnning' the whole head out of embarrassment.
This helped so much! I’ve attempted to cut my own hair before but this made me really feel like I knew what I was doing. Plus, I really like how it came out!
my boyfriend tried to follow this before we met & he ended up shaving his head 😂 I followed this while I cut his hair & he looks amazing 😍💕 thanks so much for making it easy!!

Very good video. Been cutting my hair for 5 years now and I've always been scared of using scissors. I've been using my straight razor for the top, which kinda works but it's definitely not salon quality. Seeing you do it really gives me the courage to try using scissors. Great, easy to follow video by the way. A lot of videos on cutting your own hair get really technical about clipper lengths and needlessly complicated. Your technique is pretty intuitive and how I've been doing my sides as well.

Well I gave it a try and it turned out ok. I can leave the house without a hat so I would say thats a win. I just kept telling myself baby steps and take your time. It took me one hour to do it. I've always thought, "Jensen has a fine hair cut." Not once did I think, "That's a self-experiment gone wrong." LOL Excellent video. A tip to amateurs would be to trim your hair every 2 to 3 weeks. That way you're only taking off a small length of hair so there's less chance of error and even if there is, it would be less noticeable than an inch of missing hair.
😂😂😂 Well, i guess he just meant to say that it’ll not work no matter how long you try IF you’re not confident enough. Won’t have to be perfect but a little investment of confidence into doing your own hair cut and you might become the legend who’s confident enough to do his own hair. 😅
Just finished cutting my hair and I can safely say that I can't wait for it to grow back 😁 HAHAHA but this tutorial really helped! Loved this! My sides are faded af, and I cut my bangs diagonally👌🏼 the back could've been better but for a first timer I'd rate my cut 8/10

Hey Jensen, I just tried your tutorial and: it worked....better than I would have ever imagined. Srsly it comes kinda close to what my hait stylist usualy does. Thank you soo much! You just saved my quarantine :D
Oh man, I tried this and it went better than expected, besides the part where I didn't have a good range of sizes so it isn't really a fade as much as just a line of transition
"no one gonna say anything" "that's the best compliment" "that means no one knows you cut your own hair" - that's all I really want when it comes to cutting my own hair
I’d recommend everyone to watch a video on how to fade your hair working your way from top to bottom. It’s much easier and you don’t create guidelines as you do fading from bottom to top. Just a pro tip

Aye bro, respect for cutting your own hair for 10 years bc I did the same! People got no idea how much money you save once you start doing it
And time too. I like your hairstyle in your profile pic!
Today I cut my hair and the result was perfect. Really its wonderful video, thank you so much.
I FINALLY FOUND THE VIDEO IN THAT ONE YOUTUBR AD IM HAPPY
Edit: I'm watching this whole video just cuz. Very thorough!
Totally agree, I usually cut my hair every 2 weeks. I only grew out my hair for 1 and a half months so I could make that transition in the beginning 😂
Jensen: It's easy.
Also Jensen: I failed for eight years. They called me monk.
Me: 😳 Nah, I'm good with the caveman look.
😂😂😂 Well, i guess he just meant to say that it’ll not work no matter how long you try IF you’re not confident enough. Won’t have to be perfect but a little investment of confidence into doing your own hair cut and you might become the legend who’s confident enough to do his own hair. 😅
Lol.. I was looking for this comment and laughed so hard on this.. No one knows what may happen if we go to barber shop now..
Tq bro, because of your video, i finally success cutting my hair, all your speach make me proud n inspired, hope you success in your life, tq again, now after watching this already 3 time successfully cutting my hair n satisfied about it

Best video so far! No long talks and explanations....very accurate
Holy cow, this is definitely a moderate level to professional level of DIY tutorial...hmm... I am torn, I know I would make a few holes in my head by following this method and...I think want to give myself a try.
The production is effing badass on top of the content value. Great job bro.
Thank you Jensen for giving me the courage to try it your instruction is excellent as well as your advice for my first time I thought my hair turned out pretty good not to mention the fact you've made me independent I remember first learning to throw darts I could not always hit the bullseye but with practice I succeeded thank you again
I fade my own hair and I picked up a lot of good tips from watching your video thanks
dang that's pretty solid! i've been cutting my own hair for about a decade and it wasn't until the last 5 years where there have been really good videos to help me. I wish this was available back then! i've done a lot of bad haircuts hahahaha thanks for the help!

Dude, I just wanna say thank you. I was looking for some tutorial to cut my own hair and, after watching some, your video was BY FAR the best one (also, it's the style that I usually do, so even better!).
Nice guidelines, explanation, everything. I did it and it was amazing. Thanks.

Awesome to hear!
I've always envied Asian hair, you guys have such good hair, always looks awesome no matter how you style it.
So you finnaly decided to look up that video from the ad Its about time

😢 Single tear for you
"no one gonna say anything"
"that's the best compliment"
"that means no one knows you cut your own hair"
- that's all I really want when it comes to cutting my own hair
I've been watching a lot of hair cutting videos I would say this helped the most for a beginner like me
This video is the most practical and is more clear on how to properly cut your own hair. Thank you so much!
I’d recommend everyone to watch a video on how to fade your hair working your way from top to bottom. It’s much easier and you don’t create guidelines as you do fading from bottom to top. Just a pro tip
Have a good video of this anywhere? I can't seem to find anyone doing it from the top.
Any video for top to bottom tutorial, all video (and my barber) do it bottom to top
I just used this to cut my hair in lockdown in the leadup to a wedding - I took it really slow but got a great result. Great tutorial!
Great to hear!
2:40 - This is where my clippers died. Can't wait until it's December so I can go outside again. I'm so excited.
I've been cutting my hair like twice a month since quarantinine started, and I'm glad I just sent it that first time.
