@@theoneminutebarber Hi, what do I tell my barber when I show him the top cutting part? I specifically want my top to be layered and textured that way so it doesn't feel all over the place. Thank you!

As a asian barber, I would say that you should come to asian hair salon, not many barber nowaday cut long hair like this accept old school barber shop. I would reccommend korean hair salon, 2 block is very popular at asian especially Korea. You must never go to a barbershop if you have long hair, tested on me lolol, going to a women's salon is way cheaper and so much better, they never messed me up because they were cutting hair for atleast 10 years meanwhile in barbershops they have people with like 1-2 years of hair cutting experience and it shows, it's so rare to find a professional barber nowadays
I have a kid with pin straight hair, and no barber or hair dresser has been able to cut it exactly how I request it, so I've been doing it myself for years, this is the first time I see a tutorial that is easy to follow, and shows exactly how hair looks like from beginning to end. I did it, and will definitely keep doing it until my kid gets tired of mama doing his hair haha. Thank you!!!
Dear @theoneminutebarber, as a Mom of two sons, I am very greatful of your videos!! They have been so disapointed at barber shops, because most of them are just crash learning so they can work there. So i started to cut their hair by myself and it turns out very well because of your helpful videos! Thx and greetings from germany
it’s so weird, just the other day I was looking up how to do a two-block haircut, and I was thinking “man I wish that one-minute barber guy made a tutorial on this,” and now here we are!
Happended to me, yesterday I was searching for this before I did the haircut, but didn't know the name until now. I loved this explanation, thank you @The one-minute barber
I used this tutorial to cut my daughters hair. I did a longer, more feminine cut, so I didn't do any of the tapering in back. I just did the lines and technique you used with the longer part of the hair. Made a few changes to make it more feminine. It turned out super cute. I didn't know I could cut hair so well. Your way of teaching makes it clear and easy. Thanks.
Did this on my husband last month. It was my first time, and he loved it. He kept saying, I cant believe you got it and the people that cut it before never understood what I wanted. So, thank you!!
I've never seen anything from you before but your voice is so lovely to listen to and you explain things so engagingly. Please keep talking forever, about any subject.
I've had to teach myself to cut my boys hair. I had no idea what I was doing but over the years of watching videos and learning from my mistakes this is close to what I've been doing. I still need some work but only getting better. This is exactly how my sons like their hair cuts. Thank you for sharing and explaining your techniques. This has helped with my confidence and knowledge.
Love the haircut. Best 2 block haircut I've seen, giving big emphasis on the back, that's so great to connect it. I finally found a haircut video that don't use point cuts or razors for layering and textures. Thank you!
as always, thank you one-minute barber! I just started working at a high end shop in nyc as a junior barber, and this is so helpful in my aim to continue learning and to eventually become a senior 🎉
Came here to help my son with his haircut and this was PERFECT!!! Thank you so much. It’s so hard to find a good barber who understands and I so appreciate this tutorial!!!!!
I love it. I'm a licensed Barber, and this is the current haircut I wear mostly. My hair is is not as full, so you need to adjust the length for a fuller look. It's almost like the original collegiate look back in the 80's, somewhat.
@theoneminutebarber I'm in Golden, Colorado. A lot of College guys, (wrestlers, rugby, football and swimmers,) all fall with this same or similar haircuts.
LOOOOOOVE how you cut hair! It all makes so much sense. The illustrations of lines as you show while doing the hair cut are the cherry on top. Thank you for this tutorial. Top notch, subscribed 😁
Hi Michael. You are excellent. I have had my license since 1969. I understood the cut you just did perfectly cause I cut hair just like you do. It is my zen. lol Thank you for this excellent video. The young man does indeed have a beautiful head of hair. Always a treat to work with hair like that!
Congrats on a long career Doug, especially coming through the 70’s which was a pretty lean time for barbers. A lot of my techniques come from the 70’s as my first boss was a 70’s barber. Huge Beatles fan.
Same with my oldest son too, he really like these Asian types of haircuts. So I'm learning too, because he tried to get the same haircut as this. And the hairstylist fail! He even showed her the picture. 🙄
Man you’re great. I wish I had dedicated barbers like you locally, people around here treat it like a chore. They just get it good enough and move onto the next person. No dedication.
I showed a photo of this style to a hairstylist in hopes she would be able to pull it off on my son’s hair but she decided to shape it and not take off too much length. The issue is he has trouble washing his hair at mid-length and really needs some length off. Might give her another shot now that I know it’s called a ‘2 block’ or I could go back to doing it myself after watching this video a few times. Thanks for the tutorial!
Take that boy to a real barber shop barber shop not great clips or your hair lady. and sit where your kid can be faced to see you but don't reply to what he says so he doesn't try to talk
My son has the same issue with washing his thick hair if it isn't short enough. And often, people don't cut his hair in a way that works for his cowlick even when I point it out. I just started doing it myself. He prefers me doing his hair now. These tutorials help so much.
I literally woke up the other day thinking about this haircut. I always had trouble with the sides because I was trying to blend it like a fade rather than working with the length of the hair, I was working against myself, if that makes sense. Thank you so much for making these videos and explaining in a way that helps keep me learning.
I think the problem with fades is that there is a lot of skill and knowledge in them but they sometimes constrain us and the only way is to just break the rules 😁 which is also fun.
I'm not a stylist, but have been doing haircuts for my family since 2001. I love bringing my kids to a stylist for something extra nice. It isn't that hard to do a basic cut on certain people. When an untrained person sees something they don't realise, like a small hairline cowlick that looks to me to just be a curl. The hair actually curls there, too, but it took a nice stylist on one of our special to us trips going out of their way to show me when I said I always did the one spot poorly.
I call this the k drama main lead cut ❤ love it! Can’t wait to do it on my husband. Your videos are so easy to follow and I joined to learn how to cut his hair. Pretty confident now. Thank you 🙏

Thankyou so much for this I've saved it my sons life time barber has retired and my sons 11 autistic and won't allow anyone other than myself or his barber touch his hair and this is what she used to do for him , I only know the short back and sides and hand cut on the top with side parting I'm not confident enough to do this style though so this is a great lesson thankyou 🙏
Very fine job! I don’t cut hair but enjoyed watching this whole thing! Now I feel like finding a wig to try my hands on it, lol. Looks like a fun career! Thanks for sharing.
My 7 year old had this haircut or the Jack grealish kind of cut (or as close to it as your average barber can get it) one cut it sat well and the next cut it didn’t, we ended up getting a more manageable length on top and short back and sides but I wish we had kept it and just found the right barber to do it like this each cut! Looks good 👌🏼
It does look cool. It looks like Jack Grealish has influenced his team mate Kevin De Bruyne as well. This style is going to be the next big fashion trend. I don’t say that lightly.
I live in Los Angeles ( long beach CA) I have a 15 year old boy and 13 boy. The early 90s are back in. Theyre even wearing the clothes parachute ultra baggy skateboard fashion . I love your channel 💕💕💕 b
I can't believe it! This is the video I was looking for when cutting my sons hair. He has the exact same style and I started with the clippers at the back but was not sure how to blend the excessive hair from the top and transitioning to the bottom. Long her is very tough for me but I have enjoyed cutting my kids hair which I learned during Covid! :) This was a great tutorial! Thanks so much!
wow!! this video taught me much more than any other video in my language. simple and clear explanation, so I could understand it much better even though English is not my mother tongue.
I am obsessed with your videos. I have three boys and am determined to learn how to give them nice, clean haircuts at home. I have gotten so much better since watching your tutorials. I was wondering if you ever get requests for kind of a faux-hawk/ wide Mohawk cut? (Looks like a standard tapered short hair cut in the front but comes to a point in the back.) The trimmer cutting is kind of difficult to get even. I would love to see a tutorial from you if you ever get the request from a client. It’s a popular cut in the Midwest US.
I know that type of cut well and there was a time here in Scotland where it was every second haircut. I do still do them so will try and get a model for a video. Thanks Kala
Amazing job on the tutorial! I love the graphics that showed the sectioning and your simple yet through descriptions. I followed each step to cut my fiancés hair and it turned out amazing! Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this! Since lockdown I've been cutting my own hair and recently I've been wanting to switch things up but I don't know many techniques to try out, especially to take care of the back. This helps a ton and I'll definitely try to incorporate a lot of this into my next cut!
Great tutorial! I've been scared to use clippers for a long time, but your tutorial explained it so well! I'm going to give my father this haircut, i hope it turns out well.
I just got a 2-block, barber suggested it. I googled 2-block and found this. This was, weirdly, therapeutic. It makes me appreciate my barber so much more. sick.
As an opinion Two block hair cut is Asian hair cut. they cut the sides and make the above hair fall of sides , in time not very short from back.( under cut from sides only). For that it’s named 2 blocks
It was a pleasure Martin and it’s always good to meet a fellow TH-camr. If anyone is into trail running and reading the comments then go check out Martins channel where you can find all things trail running and product reviews.
Glad you enjoyed it! I also have a free community where I help novices and learner barbers. There are people of all levels in there and lots of free tutorials you’d be most welcome to join www.skool.com/one-minute-barber-academy/about
I love this. Such clear explanations on the techniques used and why you’re using them. What to do if the hair doesn’t fall flat on the head and actually sticks out? When I cut the sides I can’t use a number 3 because the hair will stick out too much. I have to go in with a 2 but then it won’t connect to the back?
It will connect, you need to move the top hair out of the way and just at the area between the sides and back you connect like you would a mullet, but obviously your still tapering the back. I am putting a series of masterclasses in here in the members section where there is a mullet tutorial that shows this connection if you want to learn more you’d be most welcome to join
damn, this helped me a lot ! i always struggle and think that the middle part should be connected to the sides. I wish I found this earlier . nice video
I want a female version of this hair cut like a brushed back sort of pixie cut like when Scarlett Johansson had short hair. My hairdresser doesn’t really get it though and I feel like saying urgh just do it like you’d cut a man’s hair. Might show her this video!
@@stephendonnini6682 I have shown her pictures of Scarlett Johanssons hair, but she always leaves it too long at the back so the shape is a bit wrong, and she doesn’t believe me when I say I want it shorter. It’s also a bit choppy on the sides. My hair is in-between wavy and straight so I thought maybe it’s just my hair type messing it up. Maybe I just need to find a different hair dresser & next time I communicate very clearly with more pictures.
@@JaffaCakes98definitely show them pics of tapered napes! And it’s ok to try another stylist! I work in a men’s upscale barbershop but still have women clients that love having me taper the neck!!!
@@JaffaCakes98 Woo...I have the same problem! Finding a female to adjust a man's short haircut for women. Last girl I went to did an undercut and the cut made me look military, not feminine! (And proceeded to charge me 70 more dollars 😮) It's growing out fast and looks soooo disheveled right now...I'll need to find someone else to deal with this mess... Hope you find someone knowledgeable and fair(priced)! 🙏🏽🕊
This is such a classy and classic cut. I wish the skin fade would just fade out - from a female point of view, it’s really horrible! For Pete’s sake! Most guys are going to be balding and shaving it all off anyway within a decade or two! This cut makes a guy look soooo much better while they’ve got hair to enjoy.
I’m an older woman, growing out the top of what was a pixie with a fade. But I’m working towards a good 2 block. It’s a super easy versatile style. It’s just not easy to find a pro in my city who’s really good at cutting a 2 block.
Why would you go to a barber school when everything you need is right here 😂. All you really need to do is practical experience. Just grab one of your relatives and use them for practice, atleast thats what I did. When I first cut someone's hair, I was really anxious. Overtime, I learned that a minor mistake can easily be fix and don't be afraid to make a mistake because hair would just grow out anyway.

Hey I’m not a hair stylist but I just looked up wavy Asian men’s haircuts and found this and think I’m gonna try to ask my sister who is learning if she can do it. Great stuff
I tried doing something similar to this by myself and it’s taking me more thsn a day haha self haircuts are so hard it’s easier if I was just doing a regular fade
Thank you for these tutorials. Yours are my favorite so far. A question: why do you part the top in the middle for this cut, versus to the side? thanks
This is another great question. In this haircut it is almost perfectly in the middle. But and this is important, these types of haircut need to flow, so the natural parting is the best place to choose a parting. Find it by brushing the hair straight back and letting it fall. The same principles of compound over direction can still be used.

Long her is very tough for me but I have enjoyed cutting my kids hair which I learned during Covid! :) This was a great tutorial! Thanks so much!
You are so welcome! Thank you ☺️
Получила огромное удовольствие от просмотра вашего видео урока . Спасибо
Thank you ☺️
Thank you so much I’ve been looking for a few months on how to do this ! You’re the best , Made it easy to follow !
You're welcome!☺️
Oh my gosh! I been looking for The perfect 2 block video! Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Thanks Tasha 😀
Great lesson. Thank you so much. Very easy to follow. Thanks for not playing loud distracting music.
You're very welcome!
What a great tutorial video from the greatest teacher ever ❤
Wow, thank you!🙏
wow!! this video taught me much more than any other video in my language. simple and clear explanation, so I could understand it much better even though English is not my mother tongue.
Thank you, there is also subtitles in most major languages on my videos
Thanks Kala
@@theoneminutebarber thank you so much!
Great style. Many techniques I use. Love the overdirection and triangle shape. Looks great on him.
Thank you! Cheers! 😃
Amazing job on the tutorial! I love the graphics that showed the sectioning and your simple yet through descriptions. I followed each step to cut my fiancés hair and it turned out amazing! Thank you 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful! Thank you Kelly
Thank you so much for this! Since lockdown I've been cutting my own hair and recently I've been wanting to switch things up but I don't know many techniques to try out, especially to take care of the back. This helps a ton and I'll definitely try to incorporate a lot of this into my next cut!
I hope it helps
Been looking for a hair artist who can do this since 2018 but nah. They all don't know what a 2 block haircut is. 😅
Yeah bro..😅
Asians been doing this since they saw trunks do this in the 90s this ain't new 😂
Great tutorial! I've been scared to use clippers for a long time, but your tutorial explained it so well! I'm going to give my father this haircut, i hope it turns out well.
Let me know how it goes
"is the fade fading away?" killed me
I think it is 😁
I just got a 2-block, barber suggested it. I googled 2-block and found this. This was, weirdly, therapeutic. It makes me appreciate my barber so much more. sick.
Thank you ☺️
As an opinion
Two block hair cut is Asian hair cut. they cut the sides and make the above hair fall of sides , in time not very short from back.( under cut from sides only). For that it’s named 2 blocks
Just what an undercut is called in east asia
Cheers for the cut & blether the other day, my wife loves the cut, happy wife = stress-free husband 😀
It was a pleasure Martin and it’s always good to meet a fellow TH-camr.

I've see thousands of videos. This was amazing. Videos like these help you understand the science behind it. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! I also have a free community where I help novices and learner barbers. There are people of all levels in there and lots of free tutorials you’d be most welcome to join www.skool.com/one-minute-barber-academy/about
Ada beberapa menggunakan bahasa indonesia, sungguh terbaik untuk tutorial ini
Who knew Braveheart was such a great barber
🏴😉
damn, this helped me a lot ! i always struggle and think that the middle part should be connected to the sides. I wish I found this earlier . nice video
My pleasure. Glad it helped.
I want a female version of this hair cut like a brushed back sort of pixie cut like when Scarlett Johansson had short hair. My hairdresser doesn’t really get it though and I feel like saying urgh just do it like you’d cut a man’s hair. Might show her this video!
She pretty much had a 2 block but it was higher on the sides for her.
I would get all the pics you like and show your stylist!! Pictures help so much in consultation!! Good luck
(And proceeded to charge me 70 more dollars 😮)
It's growing out fast and looks soooo disheveled right now...I'll need to find someone else to deal with this mess... Hope you find someone knowledgeable and fair(priced)! 🙏🏽🕊
i have been searching for gud haircut tutorial video and u made my day easy with ur explaination...tq
This is my favorite haircut for my two boys, I will try this technique to see if I can make it look cleaner. Thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
man i wish my barber could do this i'm tired of barbers fukin up my 2 blocks
Well if you are ever in the north of Scotland I’d do it for you.
Very nice work. This kid is lucky to have such nice, thick hair.
He does have great hair.
before i go bald, i wanna try this haircut at least once. male pattern baldness is a mf
I’m an older woman, growing out the top of what was a pixie with a fade. But I’m working towards a good 2 block. It’s a super easy versatile style. It’s just not easy to find a pro in my city who’s really good at cutting a 2 block.
If you ever visit Scotland I would be happy to cut it for you
@@theoneminutebarber awww, I would definitely take you up on that offer 💜
If my barber was this good...
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT i was looking for , defenitly the best tutorial
thank you
Why would you go to a barber school when everything you need is right here 😂.
🎉
Thank you for this video my dream haircut. More Power!
From Philippines 🇵🇭
Thank you 🙏

Saludos desde Escocia, y bienvenidos al canal. Soy aprendiendo español también.
Este video tiene subtítulos en español si lo necesitas.
its actually because of the kpop industry that two-block haircuts is a trend.
Awww I really was hoping to see how it looked straight on when you were finished. The side looked lovely, but wanted to see how the part sat.
This video is of the same haircut, and at the 21 minute mark I show where the parting is and how to make it. th-cam.com/users/livedH55h7e89j8 hope it helps
Leon Kennedy's haircut.
I loved that game.
That kid has a beautiful head of hair! May the hair gods bless him with a lifelong luscious head of hair 😊
Я хоть и женщина,но давно хочу себе такую стрижку.Спасибо Вам!❤
I’d do it for you if you were in Scotland
As a former hairdresser this is perfection! Hi from Norway!
That is high praise indeed thank you

Ive been doing this style with my kids for a yesr now. But i love your technique! Looks great!
Thank you 🙏
Very nice, thank you Rocio Fe San Antonio TX Estelista, thank you for explaining everything in great detail and slowly so that I can understand it.
You're very welcome!☺️
Hey I’m not a hair stylist but I just looked up wavy Asian men’s haircuts and found this and think I’m gonna try to ask my sister who is learning if she can do it. Great stuff
Hope it helps
I remember in my 2000 High school year I always have this hairstyle. Now I have long hair and plan on getting back to this hairstyle.
Me too, all through the 90s I had hair like this
Justo ese corte se lo haré a mi hijo. Me encantó. Gracias por el video y la técnica. Lo haré paso a paso.
I did the haircut just now, newbie btw. and I DID SO GOOOODDD. THANK YOUUU
Great job!
I tried doing something similar to this by myself and it’s taking me more thsn a day haha self haircuts are so hard it’s easier if I was just doing a regular fade
This is a tough one for a self haircut 💇
Thank you for these tutorials. Yours are my favorite so far. A question: why do you part the top in the middle for this cut, versus to the side? thanks
This is another great question. In this haircut it is almost perfectly in the middle. But and this is important, these types of haircut need to flow, so the natural parting is the best place to choose a parting. Find it by brushing the hair straight back and letting it fall. The same principles of compound over direction can still be used.
Love the step by step process! A lot of great techniques here. Thanks for the great tutorial!
You are so welcome!
