Done this for years too and have saved thousands of dollars. In my opinion one of the best setups is a door with a body mirror, handheld mirror hanging on the wall at head height, and a clip on light at the top of the door shining down on me. I like it because the door moves so I can get a better angle if I need it, and the lighting is directly on me so I can cut easier. Most of my bad cuts have been because I didn’t have good lighting. Also carpet is better than tile or hardwood in my opinion for the slip hazard you noted, never had a problem vacuuming up afterwards. Wear shoes so you don’t get hair splinters in your feet.
I have a $7 mirror and 360 mirror with lights. I use the 360 mirror more often but I can see where using the $7 mirror comes in handy for the fading of the cut, but the 360 mirror comes in handy for detailing and lining up. Either setup isn’t perfect but both combined you can get really good results.
I have best results with 360mirror (used it for the longest time) bought X2 big wall mirrors to hang from door and shower door, need to try the 45° degree solution more to get it perfect.. (like the more space)
Yeah 360 mirrors work well if you understand how to use them. Big note, make sure you get one with re-enforced hooks that connect because one of the hooks broke off my old one due to metal being thin and week
Excellent video💈❤ Thank you Alex 😊 Since the last one year, I have kept my hair shorter ( #2 on the top with clean faded sides and the back) just to keep cutting and learning my own haircut once in every two weeks.. It looks so fresh every time when I give myself a haircut 💈 I have some haircut suggestions for you, why don't you start to teach us military haircut variations including some extreme southside fade, high and tight, short flattop etc.. it will be so fun and interesting to explore more such haircuts 💈❤️😊
Great videos. I have the 7 mirror setup and felt like I was doing something wrong. When I'm looking through the mirror, I feel like my hand/eye coordination is off in the wrong direction trying to use 2 mirrors. Does that make sense?
Great question! All of the tools I recommend are listed on my website. From a budget friendly list to more expensive price range options: www.selfhaircutuniversity.com/equipment-tools-oip
You just lean the $7 mirror ever so slightly against the wall at a 30-45 degree angle. Don't worry, it won't fall on you unless you hit it with your arms or body by accident. Also, make sure you adjust it if you want to leave your bathroom. The wind from the door opening will make it fall over. Hope this helps!
I used the 7$ mirror setup for the first time and I kinda had a blind spot which was the back of my head, u can see the sides very clearly but not the back. Any suggestions on how to improve that?
Hi Alex ; Can you show us how to cut the tops of long hair with just a clipper? Without too many abbreviations. I have difficulty cutting the tops of my own hair with scissors and I can't cut them evenly. I need an easier method with a clipper.
Due the 3 way mirror is way better than that, hang it off the shower and do your haircut in the shower, easiest clean up ever. How does a grown man slip on some tiles and hurt themselves lmfao cant believe that was your biggest con
You have to cleanup anytime you cut your hair what do you mean cleanup is an inconvenience? If it’s that inconvenient go to the barber and stop complaining
Thanks for watching! Which mirror setup will you be going with?
The 3 way mirror setup is still the best for me.
Listen to this man. He helped a lot of us stay looking crispy during the Covid era
I totally agree with you 💯👍🏻😊

Smart, I use the massive body mirror and the vanity wall mirror in the bathroom, only challenging part is getting a crispy neck line haha

I prefer a large mirror on the wall to a vanity mirror. It allows me to get close rather than lean over / sit on a sink. I agree on the $7 mirror.
How does the 3 way mirror produce more hair clippings on the floor than any other mirror .. lol wtf...
literally??? stupidest thing ive heard in a while😂😂
Excellent video💈❤

I am your first viewer this video from Bangladesh😊
Any recommendations on lighting? I got white bulbs in bathroom but its hard to see sometimes when im cutting
I like GE Reveal bulbs for natural, daylight looking colors.
What’s the best clipper to order on Amazon?
depends on prize

Don’t. Go to a physical store (Walmart, Target, Sally Beauty, Ulta, etc.) and buy Wahl clippers with the metal clips.
How do you keep the mirror stationary on the wall? (ie attached hinge from wall to back of mirror). I’m just afraid the mirror will drop

Kouras επιτελους βλεπω εξελιξη στο fade σου good job 👌

I use both hands, more stable, left for left, right for right side.

Buy the Flo Bee with vacuum direct from the manufacturer. I recommend the optional short fade guards too. It will do a perfect scissor cut every time.
Dude nothing beats 3 cameras connected to a curved screen in front of you
I use 2 mirrors to selfhaircut....one in the hand and one on the wall... oldschool 😂
I think ths video clearly shows the buzz cut suits you way better.
A brush cut is not a buzz cut.
Still you have dandruff 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Seborheic dermatitis bro
nah cutting hair for so many years and still giving ass cuts is craxy
Hihihihihii
