I really wish I could get you to give me a very short recon style haircut, using the clippers with a #1 guard on top, and cut the back and sides as close as possible with the clippers and no guard.

brother I cant thank you enough for this! I'm going through a divorce right now and my ex was a hair dresser and 3x a year she could clean me up lol. Now I can do it on my own and honestly my hair looks better then she ever did it! Also had people at the local market look it over and said it looked top notch! Not all heros wear capes, some make youtube videos helping peasants lol

I can see why she left, you are a cheapskate. The claim you made that you do a better job than she did is either you are bitter or she's a real terrible hairdresser. Or, she fucked up your hair on purpose.

Here's my personal story: I'm now 29, and I've been getting my hair cut by barbers since I was 15. Before that, my mother used to cut it, but you know how complicated and stressful that can be, especially if you don't have the best relationship with your mom. By December 2023, I hadn't cut my hair for two months, and it was really long (I usually cut it every month). My girlfriend asked if I had ever thought about buying clippers to cut my own hair at home.
So, I bought a Kemei clipper, and since then, my girlfriend's been cutting my hair. However, she always gets nervous during the cut, so I decided to learn how to do it myself. That's when I discovered Michael's TH-cam channel and his amazing way of teaching. He made it so simple and straightforward that anyone, even those who don't know anything about barbering, can do it themselves.
Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever return to a barbershop, maybe for a special occasion, but definitely not regularly. There's something incredibly satisfying about being able to do it yourself. It's not just about saving money.
Michael, I want to thank you for the wonderful videos you've made. You've made a difference in a lot of people's self-esteem.

I realize this is 2 years late, but our budget at home has gotten really tight so I needed to cut even some of the small things now. I watched your video a few times, and took a chance I could do it without making myself look silly. Your method in this video worked beautifully. I just wanted to thank you for this knowledge. This guy just helped me get my first half decent cut since lockdown. I've watched many vids but this guy simplifies it.
Too many people are trying to do fades at number 1's and 2's who have never even picked up clippers before or, don't realise how you need the right lighting and mirrors.
I'm going to miss my dumb and dumber bowl cut 😂

Okay, so I just finished my first haircut using this video. I cannot believe how well it came out. The part on how to cut the hair on the top of the head...why does no one else ever mention this in their videos? It is incredible. That was always the part that baffled me; I knew using scissors and a comb was too advanced. This technique is so simple. It was a little bit stressful seeing so much hair being removed (it has been a long while since I had a haircut), but it came out great. This is literally the only video I needed. Thanks.

Thanks to your videos I've cut my own hair five times now. I bought some Wahl clippers off Ebay during the first lockdown and was brave enough to cut my own hair after watching one of your videos. I use number 8 (25mm) on top and usually number 3 at the back and sides. I haven't been brave enough to use number 2 or 3 to go down the back and sides to blend it in more...but I might do now after watching this video ! 👍

      @theoneminutebarber  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Thank you, Michael your videos are really a saver. I have been cutting my own hair since a retired plus my grandson. Your technique is incredible and easy to follow. The Occipital Ridge has always given me so much trouble. Usually, I ended up with something like horns or Mohican style. Considering that I am almost 80 years is OK for me but not for my wife and granddaughters. I like to go to the barber every two or three months and they make a lot of fun with my hairstyles.

Third time done. Getting more confident and finally got it almost as short as my barber does.
Very conservative the first two times, which meant I needed a new trim 2 weeks later. This time should last my usual 4 weeks.
I keep about an inch and half on top, so fading/merging takes patience for a newbie!

This is a game changer for me, I've been doing my own hair for about a year now but this is by far the best video instruction I've ever seen, I like the fact that your hair isn't totally straight & 'perfect', especially the fringe which is exactly like mine (sort of curls up), you've just shown me the best way to cut this, plus the tip of following the direction of the hair is brilliant & gives a far better cut. THANKS!!

Great video!!! It has given me the confidence to cut my own hair every two weeks (nice to feel a clean cut), all while using the Wahl Clipper Lithium Ion Cordless Kit. During full Covid lock down I was hesitant at doing a cut just once a month, when using others guidance. Your coaching and this video in particular shows us a fool proof blending method that completes the cut. I will be adjusting the comb attachments to vary my hair length based on Summer or Winter needs. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I bought a hair clipper set for Christmas and gave myself first haircut today using your clear, concise, informative and entertaining instructional video. I learned a lot and felt confident. My first haircut, I'd rate myself an 8.5/10...with practice it'll get better! Thanks mate, couldn't have done it without you ✌️
PS. The "phaser" blow dryer 😆
PS2. as a woman with a longer hairstyle, I used an 8 on top, 7 on the side, 6 on neck taper. Fantastic results with your "cut with the natural direction" method.

I’ve been cutting my own hair since March 2020. Just came across this method, by far the easiest way to get as close as you can to the barbershop in very little time. Thanks!

Thank you Michael, great video. I appreciate the all in one in this video. My self cuts have never been better! At the halfway point between my haircuts, I like to just trim up the edges and around the ears as well, keeps me looking great until the next cut.
    Cheers!

I bought myself some clippers and I just finished my very first self hair cut, and it was all thanks to this video. It gave me a lot of confidence and also the techniques you shared, were really good. Don’t take me wrong... my haircut is by no means perfect, but it came out pretty damn good. I’m sure with more practice and once I familiarize myself with how my hair behaves when I cut it, I’ll get better at it. Thank you very much for the video! And I’m subscribed to your channel now. Next stop, how to make a good fade hehe

Cutting my own hair during lockdown using his method . It works so well I can not believe it.
I use a small Remington clippers . But when I cut my boys hair they complain it pulls the hair a bit. Would anyone recommend a good cordless clippers to buy. Nothing crazy expensive , but good for a DIY .
