I want to see a story where a deathwatch kill team is sent to a world where the lamenters are fighting the tyranids. As their ship lands, Chyron rushing out screaming that he will avenge his bros, and then stops when he sees a lamenter standing before him. The lamenter salutes him as Chyron begins to feel joy, crying out that his brothers still live, before then charging into the fray. Feel like Chyron needs to know his brothers are alive.
It seems stupidly pointless, almost unbelievably improbable, that their continued existence is kept hidden from him. Like the DeathWatch has a rolling roster, taking in Marines from hundreds of other chapters over hundreds of years. And not once, did any of those Marines mention the Lamenters to him, who they would all know are still active and have a notable reputation throughout the Astartes as a whole
@@KappaKiller108the Lamenters wouldn't be sending any Marines to the DW while on a Penitent Crusade. Now that it's over they might send a few and Chyron will see he's not alone.
So true, imperial fists just hide in bunkers and behind walls, their successors are so much better, brave to the end, actually do fighting rather than hiding
He is actually also mentioned in the trial of gabriel seth, though whether that’s just a mistake or an oversight i don’t know. It’s nice to have pretty much legitimate confirmation
My brothers from the third company will be never forgotten. Raimos and Dagos will be remembered as heroes to the chapter, their names edged into the halls of the Mater Lachrymarumour, our Fortress Monastery's hall of heroes. "For those we cherish, we die in glory!
I heard: "the Lamenters have been reinforce" My first thought: "What are the odds the first fight would be against the tyranids" 😂 Awesome summary, can't wait until Vox in the Void does his magic with this story.
One direction I do like the GW is heading into is highlighting more of the successor chapters as of the last 2 edtions. Its a direction I think I would favor GW long term, keeping things fresh with new faces and major lore for these chapters that have risen out of their parent chapters. Especially those chapters that still see the reprecussions of the HH like the Salamanders and Raven Guard. Hell Black Templars even got a whole range to themselves that I hope can continue in the future with other unique chapters
Can't wait for the Raptors video. So glad they're getting more love. The Raptors, Howling Griffons, and Lamenters short stories were the ones I was the most interested in so its great to see you covering them
I feel like these books, many about Chapters that fought in the Badab War, is hinting towards a return to Badab. A looming confrontation with the Luft Huron for Badab War 2. Afterall, they're are rumors of a new Huron model
I love them because they don't care abour their misfortune. They care they don't have more to give. Truer heroes in the imperium are few and far between.
There aren't many chapters that wear yellow so it's nice to see one have some really cool lore and an interesting story. I can't really think of another one, maybe blood angels in the bantax crusade away kit, but do they really count as a yellow chapter?
If they did do a sanguinus returned story, it should really be with the lamenters and not blood angels. The lamenters really believe in the dream like he did
Yo Valrak! I've got some fun Imperial Fists related news for you: I KNOW WHO THEIR CHAPTER MASTER IS AND WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE! A throwaway art piece in the 5th edition Space Marines codex actually shows him! He apparently dual wields relic thunder hammers, which kicks ass.
The fact that the gun jammed at the crucial moment, like everytime with Lamenters doing anything, and the marine in question going all "I have enough of this bad luck nonsense!", just fix it on the fly, like if he was a Salamander or an Iron Hand, and take an impossible headshot was so damn good. Also I love the idea that at the end that guy is all like that opossum from a meme, where on got into bakery, eat all the jelly cookies and fell asleep while laying in the box with a line of text "Do what you want to me. I have already won."
thanks valrak, i love the lamenters. this story is such a lamenters story. i dont think the MC died, more likely layed to rest some, until his brothers find him. if not... then *lamenting the lamenter*
Man I would a space Marine 2 like game featuring the Lamenters.. or any game featuring space Marines for that matter with the Lamenters as the main chapter and story center..
Wait did Bobby G-man give the lamenters primaris whole on a penance crusade? Would have liked to see how that went down with the various groups responsible for the crusade in the first place
Do we forget that when a space marine flat lines. Doesn't mean true death. Their experience and memories maintain through gene seed transfers from one body to another
It's still sad that most of the Badab War Chapters get more lore, but the chapter that beat the snot out of these chapters didn't get a short story. I just want more Shark lore, especially because they have been fighting Leviathan before the actual invasion.
Richard Swan is an amazing author. If you like this short fiction, and you like the Eisenhorn books you REALLY need to check out his Empire of the Wolf trilogy. The first book is called The Justice of Kings and the author said one of his biggest sources of inspiration for his main character, Sir Konrad Vonvalt, was Eisenhorn. Konrad Vonvalt is an Emperor's Justice, who is a Detective, Judge and Executioner all in one, and as chaos threatens to engulf the empire "these are dangerous times to be a Justice" It's not Warhammer, but don't let that put you off because his books are stunningly good, like the Eisenhorn books are.
Hey, thanks for all the lore. I just started playing the tabletop, partially thanks to your channel, and chose a successor chapter of the Imperial First. The sons of Varadon the Shadow Wolves. Thanks for everything. Long live the sons of Dorn!
Part of me feels like we might see this tied into the CSM/Red Corsairs narrative you have mentioned. Hopefully that rumor comes to fruition and we see the Lamenters and Executioners sent to fight Huron and his Corsairs.

@KappaKiller108 they aren't hiding the existence of them from him. They have told him his brothers live but he doesn't believe them.
After reading the end and the death and hearing this story, Sanguinius lineage should have its own motto "I didn't hear no bell"
That and "Imagine the worst day possible. For the Lamenters' thsts just Tuesday."
Ah, the chapter who wears yellow so much better than Fists
Valrak just fuming at the mouth over your comment.
And has a longer average marine 😊 life spam
