- The multirole JF-17 Thunder (also known as CAC FC-1 Xiaolong) flying at the Paris Air Show is a joint venture between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China’s Catic group, and is being offered as a supersonic replacement fighter for militaries using older 2nd generation combat aircraft.
The aircraft offers low acquisition cost, compared with other new fighters. At the same time, the JF-17 provides the low operating costs that come with a new, more efficient aircraft as opposed to the much higher operating and maintenance cost associated with competing second-hand, earlier-generation fighters.
The JF-17 is powered by a Klimov RD-93 afterburning turbofan, delivering 11,105 pounds of thrust or 19,280 pounds with afterburner, allowing for a top speed of Mach 1.6.

@Alfred Churchill Well... JF17 is one of the new comers... and for sure at 1/3 of standard jet price... it's not as good as Gen 4+ /5 ... But still, AAM and A/G weapons, sensors from 2010 and reliable airframe made it a nasty opponent.
I shouldn't have to remember you that F35 get shot down by F16 and a Raptor almost get shot by a Su25... Pilot skill and combat prepare is more important than the tech.
JF17 don't have to blush... In Pakistani air force it will be one of the most advanced aircraft in the region ;)

It’s not a lie. There’s videos of jf17s taking off and flying towards Kashmir at full afterburner on the 27th Feb. F16s were only used days later for patrol during the airspace shutdown. There’s also a jf17 with a mig 21 kill mark not to mention the shares of the jf17’s sister company went up right after the mig 21 was shot down.

The manoeuvrability and the overall performance of the Jf-17 block 2 resembles so much with the early models of the F-16. JF-17 will be an absolute beast with all the new features and will be categorised as a true 4++ Gen aircraft!

Moreover the block 52 has HMD more harpoints and can carry a better payload
