I like the JF-17's soothing voice that gently informs you that a missile has gone pitbull on you. Sorta like how a nurse calmly talks to you as they prepare the big syringe.
Kind of manages to have a bit of the Mig21 as well. The main fuselage with that thick spine certainly hints at the idea that the underlying base it took form off of was the J7 / F7.

This is what I was so surprised about when I first saw the IAFs MKI for real as a kid. I thought that I would be able to climb on the wings, but they were almost a storey high for me back then. Its as big as the f111 which had the pilots sitting side by side. Its a god damn Attack Titan with its size and agilty.

@Growling Sidewinder There is a bug when you use the uncaged seeker of the PL-5E on a target locked by radar. The PL-5 may never lock in this case. Unfortunately uncaging is the only way to slave the IR seeker to the radar. So yes, the PL-5Es are currently quite useless in a dogfight.

That's actually a very interesting theory about the use of the 30mm cannons for one-circle fighters of which I never actually thought about... The Mirage and the Rafale use 30mm cannons as well 🤔
I think its just the preference of the plane manufacturer. Dassault likes the 30mm. US manufacturers like the 20, they put the M61 vulcan on everything. Including the F 18, which is definitely one circle fighter.

Russia did switch from 23mm to 30mm guns when they introduced the MiG-29 and Su-27 series to start replacing the earlier, generally less agile MiGs and Sukhois.
I think it's mostly Americans still using smaller callibre, in ww2 everyone had 20mm or even 30mm at the end but USA had 12,7mm, then in Korea they switched to 20mm but other countries were using 30mm or even 37mm, afterwards 30mm was standard on all not American fighters

@@harixav The su-30 is as much Russian as J-17 is Chinese. IF you say Pak had actual inputs into their jf17s, atleast ask them to completely assemble the craft in pak. Su Mkis are actually built from scratch in India... other than the engines ofcourse.

The manoeuvrability of the JF17 is incredible, one of the reasons is because it's light weight and < PAF is making more adjustments and adding in supersonic missiles to , so JF17 will soon be a beast, there's a reason why Indian Airforce Scrambled to get Dasualt Fafale

You forgot to put the JF-17 in 'combat' mode. It gives you a bit more thrust, you can get to 100% rpm instead of 99.3% which ends up being about 600lbs of thrust. It might not have made much of a difference, but it might have be enough.

The only way to get a gun kill with the jeff is to either outrate a target who gets really slow or, the better strat, get in a one circle trying to slow the enemy down and then abuse the jeffs AOA to get them to cross your nose
The jeff is my baby in modern stuff. It makes me sad that its weapons fail the airframe as it can hang in the one circle with an F18 and is one of the better 2 circle fighters behind the f16. It SHOULD be good and they effed it up lol

you cannot really beat the Su-30 with its fancy super manuvourability in a one circle unless you are in a raptor or something. Further the fully loaded jeff already has a horrible thrust to weight ratio, this problem has been fixed in the block 3 with the RD-93 MA engines and use of more composite materials. Further the blk-3 has the helmet mounted queuing system from the J-20 to fully use the sd-10s high off bore sight capability, pracitally hitting targets at 90°. Also the PAF dosen't have the export variant, we manufacture the SD-10 under license at kamra. It's just called "E" to differentiate, its also called SD-10 P (Pakistan) on many documents. The blk 2 and obv blk 3 ca eat the MKI in long range BVR battles speiallu with the PL-15 :)
Great gun shots from the Flanker pilot. Probably not worth lobbing those low Pk IR shots. The last fox 2 is worth 3 times as much as the first, because as long as they have HOBBS missiles it effects how you are able to fly.
Funny thing about the JF-17 is that its jointly made by China and Pakistan. Buuuutttttt a lot of the technologies and components used to make the plane, like the engines for instance are actually of Russian design. Normally the JF-17 would have an Klimov RD-93 But a lot of the planes are now supposedly running an _'improved'_ Guizhou WS-13 which is supposedly based off the RD-93. Its basically a Russian plane but assembled in China or Pakistan. China goes real hard on bootlegging Russian equipment and hardware. 100% commitment
@@MAli-rr9km Both the 23 and 30mm cannons it uses are also Russian. The only things that arent of russian origin are the selection of missiles and other heavy ordinance it carries. China makes a lot of their own munitions when it comes to that.
Seeing these make me wonder why they didn't engineer the gun to sweep up and down in a different configuration for air to air and air to ground. The technology for that isn't that complicated

It's definitely possible to build a motor/mechanism to pivot a gun with a high degree of precision. On the software side, it's just a matter of changing the ballistics calculations for the radar gunsight in AA configuration. In all, it probably would've been one of the cheapest parts of designing the aircraft tbh

I understand the logic there, it's just the choice between the mechanical complexity vs the extra weight
jf17 gun is below fuselage, to aim it up you would have to put it on top but then also move it to side to avoid canopy, to much trouble for super rare gunfights
In 2nd and 3rd rounds, it is definitely proven that if you have Su30 flunker in dogfight, low altitude is best to win or at least give flunker a tough time in dogfight as flunker finds limitations for it's acrobatic roles on low altitude.

Agreed, the Mirage 2000 is such a potent platform. Also, there have been upgrades in some countries, for example India. Since the JF-17 was offered for production in Argentina, maybe the Mirage 2000 could also be produced in Argentina.

I had a issue last night where after a rearm I just could not get the sneakers to uncage! They would get tone and track but couldn't uncage.
No pl 5 JF 17 is armed with PL 15E most dangerous and longest range AA ever produced..

The only difference is that su-30 is not really Indian. But f-17 is

@@harixav The su-30 is as much Russian as J-17 is Chinese. IF you say Pak had actual inputs into their jf17s, atleast ask them to completely assemble the craft in pak. Su Mkis are actually built from scratch in India... other than the engines ofcourse.

The manoeuvrability of the JF17 is incredible, one of the reasons is because it's light weight and < PAF is making more adjustments and adding in supersonic missiles to , so JF17 will soon be a beast, there's a reason why Indian Airforce Scrambled to get Dasualt Fafale

You forgot to put the JF-17 in 'combat' mode. It gives you a bit more thrust, you can get to 100% rpm instead of 99.3% which ends up being about 600lbs of thrust. It might not have made much of a difference, but it might have be enough.
How do you put the jeff in 'combat' mode?
@@peacefultyranny8981 near the throttle there's a switch that says cmbt and you flip it up. You'll see the "combat" light up on the eyebrow lights.

The only way to get a gun kill with the jeff is to either outrate a target who gets really slow or, the better strat, get in a one circle trying to slow the enemy down and then abuse the jeffs AOA to get them to cross your nose

The jeff is my baby in modern stuff. It makes me sad that its weapons fail the airframe as it can hang in the one circle with an F18 and is one of the better 2 circle fighters behind the f16. It SHOULD be good and they effed it up lol

you cannot really beat the Su-30 with its fancy super manuvourability in a one circle unless you are in a raptor or something. Further the fully loaded jeff already has a horrible thrust to weight ratio, this problem has been fixed in the block 3 with the RD-93 MA engines and use of more composite materials. Further the blk-3 has the helmet mounted queuing system from the J-20 to fully use the sd-10s high off bore sight capability, pracitally hitting targets at 90°. Also the PAF dosen't have the export variant, we manufacture the SD-10 under license at kamra. It's just called "E" to differentiate, its also called SD-10 P (Pakistan) on many documents.
The blk 2 and obv blk 3 ca eat the MKI in long range BVR battles speiallu with the PL-15 :)

Great gun shots from the Flanker pilot. Probably not worth lobbing those low Pk IR shots. The last fox 2 is worth 3 times as much as the first, because as long as they have HOBBS missiles it effects how you are able to fly.

The 30mm came to replace both 23mm gun against fighters and 37mm against heavy aircraft and light armour. Unification.
Funny thing about the JF-17 is that its jointly made by China and Pakistan. Buuuutttttt a lot of the technologies and components used to make the plane, like the engines for instance are actually of Russian design. Normally the JF-17 would have an Klimov RD-93 But a lot of the planes are now supposedly running an _'improved'_ Guizhou WS-13 which is supposedly based off the RD-93.
Its basically a Russian plane but assembled in China or Pakistan.
China goes real hard on bootlegging Russian equipment and hardware. 100% commitment

Seeing these make me wonder why they didn't engineer the gun to sweep up and down in a different configuration for air to air and air to ground. The technology for that isn't that complicated

@@subjectc7505 i mean, it's not something that could be thrown together in a garage haha... That said, we've seen planes like the Tomcat with variable swept wings. It's definitely possible to build a motor/mechanism to pivot a gun with a high degree of precision. On the software side, it's just a matter of changing the ballistics calculations for the radar gunsight in AA configuration. In all, it probably would've been one of the cheapest parts of designing the aircraft tbh
There are gunpods that can aim down, making internal gun tgat can aim up/down would be pointless waste of weight and space

I understand the logic there, it's just the choice between the mechanical complexity vs the extra weight
jf17 gun is below fuselage, to aim it up you would have to put it on top but then also move it to side to avoid canopy, to much trouble for super rare gunfights
Flanker has an advantage over jf17 in close range … the fact that you manage to shoot a flanker down a number of times is a testament to the pilot.
Honestly, this was incredible skill on your part. This was a completely mismatched fight.
In 2nd and 3rd rounds, it is definitely proven that if you have Su30 flunker in dogfight, low altitude is best to win or at least give flunker a tough time in dogfight as flunker finds limitations for it's acrobatic roles on low altitude.

I believe Argentina 🇦🇷 shouldn’t get t his JF17 plane, which seems to kinda suck even in DCS hehe save for BVR but thats something else, Argentina’s air force deserves so much better…it’d say our air force here in Peru 🇵🇪 , ought to get in touch with the Argentinean air force and figure out a deal with France 🇫🇷 to buy more mirage 2000 in our case, and some for y’all, and at the same time talk to all countries that are Mirage 2000 operators, just like Taiwan, Greece, and India, and fuckin’ upgrade the hell outta it, maybe even possibly with Dassult’s and France’s approval. The mirage 2000 such a great plane, far better platform, worth keeping in the air, instead of this Chinese adventure of a plane…vibes from Peru. 🙌🏻
Agreed, the Mirage 2000 is such a potent platform. Also, there have been upgrades in some countries, for example India. Since the JF-17 was offered for production in Argentina, maybe the Mirage 2000 could also be produced in Argentina.
