    I`m doing my first season of seasonal work right now, working in hospitality in a small hotel in the middle of the Alps. I feel like this is such an incredible opportunity to live/travel in amazing locations with no expenses and get paid for it. I cut a very nice deal for myself I have accommodation and food provided + a nice paycheck. I work almost every day but it`s quite an easy job and when I have free time I can spend it all in beautiful nature, hiking, swimming in rivers, chilling in the forest. I work in my home country but I think I will do my next season somewhere abroad.
    For anyone interested, there are so many positions you can do as seasonal work during summer in the Alps (specifically I`m in Bovec in Slovenia). Most people I met here are guides for different activities: rafting, kayaking, canoeing, zipline, canyoning, etc. - literally getting paid to have fun! And these are people from all around the world (Chile, Argentina, France, Poland,..) working in Europe.

    omg i have been so nervous to get into researching seasonal travel work and this video made me so comfortable! thank you for being transparent and helpful on what it’s like to be in that environment. i’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how i want to go about life and working to pay for an overpriced apartment is unrealistic and exhausting. i want to travel and also minimize my responsibilities and this may be it! however i don’t have a car and i’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing😬

      also this video was so cute and friendly- it’s hard to keep my attention when learning about something but you made it entertaining and i sat through totally undistracted 😆 the bees had me weak. i’m always terrified they’ll get caught in my natural hair 🥴

      Love your comment 😃 it pretty much sums up why I started working seasonal jobs. I don't have a car and I'll be honest, not having one means some places won't be a great option but I've been able to make it work I believe you could too. ✌🏼

    Seasonal workers can come with slum lords. Just be careful with who you work for. Some will charge you most you wages for housing. I got lucky and make dang good money and get free housing but there a rarity.

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey so it definitely depends on the type of job you take but comfy footwear is so important!! I usually work the front desk so I bring the comfiest nondiscript black or brown shoes to work in. You'd benefit from that in other depts. such as housekeeping and anything in the kitchen. I try to really make sure I have everything I think I'll need for the first couple of weeks so that I'm not trying to get into town two days after arriving to get deodorant.

    It would seem like, unless you have a lease at home, with housing expense covered, I could save money even at a lower wage. Concerning wages, I have no regard for the opinion of law makers. In my life, minimum wage is $17/hr.

    I can relate to you I used to work at a call center before I got laid off. I had terrible back pain and gained a lot of weight from being depressed from those bitchy callers

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I swear working in call centers is so hard mentally and physically, terrible environments most of them. I gained something like 30 pounds in maybe two or three months after working there and was having severe pain in my fingers from the repetitive typing day in and day out trying to meet daily goals. I personally couldn't go back to that, just wasn't for me.

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeaah the housing kinda does suck, It's an old property so the housing is old and often wasps and bugs get in because the windows are old and not sealed well. The food was worse, I talk about it more in-depth in one of my other videos, but they really gave employees whatever slop was cheapest. Would never recommend it.

    how do you find places where you don't need a car to get around?

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So without a car you have two options, you can either look for jobs located in towns with public transport options, or you can find jobs that provide employee shuttles. I've worked at two places so far that have employee shuttles and one that was in Breckenridge, CO that had free buses in town.

    Hi, howdy, do you know of any agencies that recruit employees for temporary jobs? I know of a few that hire all over the world. I know agencies keep a percentage of the salary you are earning, but they have a much more direct connection with the employer and can process H2B visas.

    Have you encountered people doing cool work jobs who are dating? Like did it together like friends or something with pets as well?

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen some friends, couples, siblings, and a few married couples doing seasonal work together. Dating can be complicated though, as the nature of this whole thing is temporary. People are often in different situations in their lives when they meet while doing seasonal work. However, a few lucky ones do meet their partners while working. When It comes to pets, unfortunately, it can be quite difficult to find a place that will let you keep a pet in the employee housing.

    • @bri_nicolex
      @bri_nicolex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know some places specifically say, on their coolworks job posting, that they accept either J1 visas or the H2B visa. If you're looking for the winter time ski resorts are plentiful, resorts in general are a good option summer or winter. If you find a job that doesn't mention taking international applicants, don't be afraid to send them a quick emailbans ask. I've met alot of Jamaicans working seasonal jobs so I believe you'll certainly find a good place.
